Aaaaw he is too cute..that turtle just comes up & is like "you better share with that" lol I didnt know u could house em together. Pretty bad ass though. I want one ;)
I've heard nothing but bad things about dwarf caiman. If you're looking for a small crocodilian to keep as a pet you're far better off with a west african dwarf crocodile or a chinese alligator.
My Caimen is about the same size. Have only had him for about 2 or 3 weeks now. But not nearly as bold. Sits in his water full time..only eats at night, in the dark, if no one is up. :( He is very shy. Wish he would eat like that.
I don't know too much about caimans but I can tell you that the set up you have is way too small for a turtle. I kinda want a caiman but I don't have the money to support one.
what are you even talking about?! this is one of the first proper set ups i've seen on youtube!! while i do NOT condone housing different species together this is a wonderful set up for a juvenile turtle (minus the caiman being in it lol). VERY nice caiman btw. hope he doesnt have any toes missing by now from that turtle!!!
I highly disagree it's one of the nicest looking set ups I've seen but it's not good for turtles. Hatchling, juvy, or adult, the turtles need 10 gallons of water per inch of shell.
where did you read that. most informational owners manuals say 5 times bigger than the turtle at full growth. and at least 1 ft deep. "TURTLES A COMPLETE PET OWNERS MANUAL" check it out.
I'm selling my Caiman right now for 300-400 dollars and that comes with everything it needs. I live near Toronto, Canada. If you are interested in buying him send me a message to my youtube account... He is 2 feet long right now very healthy and not shy at all.
Black, brown, yacare, and spectacled caimans reach lengths of 8 feet or more, but the two dwarf caimans (p. Trigonatus and p. Palpabrosus) generally only reach 4-5 feet. The one in the clip looks like a p. Palp or Cuvier's or Wedge head dwarf caiman. Most people consider this species the "true" dwarf caiman. They do stay smaller than the p. Trig.
how tame do they get do they always stay snappy for like monitors do they get tamed down with regular care and handling?

i am not an expert, but i do keep various reptiles, and i would NOT keep a dwarf caiman with a turtle.

are dwarf caimans legal in california...PLEASE ASNWER THANKS
mattjr3 3 years ago
If FERRETS aren't legal in California, then I guarantee this is not. Seriously, there are very little exotic pets legal there.

That set up is beautiful. I wish more crocodilian (or repile in general) owners took the time to care for their animals like you are. Keep it up!
