@sameer137 Again, as I said, the fact that industrialized societies have all but eliminated early mortality is something to celebrate. Nothing you have said indicates otherwise.
In addition, while maximum life expectancy has not changed appreciably, this is not something written into stone. Regenerative medicine offers the potential of eventually increasing this maximum, whether a generation from now, a century hence, or more in the future. Whenever it happens, it'll be something to celebrate.
What this doesn't mention is whether people are adopting or not. My girlfriend and I, 19 and 20 respectively, have "adopted" probably ten kids from the nearby orphanage here in England. Legally, they aren't ours, but they come every weekend, ages from 5 to 16, and we take care of them as if they were our own. And our neighbours help out as well. It saddens me to see these kids without families. They are some of the best kids in the world and no one seems to want them. And we can't adopt.
I have 7 sons,I can not imagine not having a big family..... Ages 22,19,17,16,14 and twins 2 YEARS OLD through IVF ....My wife and I had to use IVF ,due to her being in her late 40s for the twins..
@ClarksonsinUSA I don't care what you do, I won't say you're wrong, but couldn't you have adopted instead of IVF? It would take kids out of the foster system and you'd have your large family. Or even had two then adopt. It just seems to me that this would have been a chance to have kids who don't have families to have a family. Not attacking, not judging, just trying to see why you didn't choose to adopt.
The notion that Europe or the rest of the developed world is doomed because... they're wealthy enough to live long lives and not have six children per woman is completely backwards.
Having an aged population is a high quality problem. It basically says you've solved the millenia old issue of infant and child mortality. We should be celebrating this fact and extending the wave of progress to extend healthy lifespan further instead of lamenting the fact that mortality rates have declined.
@Borhyaenid : Humans have been living for 90+ years since thousands of years, in the absence of war, famine or diseases. Europeans haven't magically "increased" the number of years a person can live, they have simply managed to eliminate the causes that killed people at an early age. It's no miracle. People still age at the same rate and die when their bodies don't function anymore.
@hxasmirl ... theres 1 billion white humans on earth and they live in the most developing nations on earth and they are not reproducing ANYMORE. WELL every single white has power over themselves. no one can force a white women to produce 10 babies , you cant convince 200 million white women to produce 10 kids each or 5 or 3 or 2 or 1 . blame your selves your government is right. you need mllions of non white immigrants to take care of your old white population. blame yourselves!
I see perpetrators of WW2 are all screwed. The price of losing war is terrible, slowly dying and disappearing! How terrible! Italy, Japan and Germany. Isn't it interesting?!
You could explain what happen in the countries where the births are lower than the rechange number. I insist, your explanation are really poor. But I have to say, your graph are so nice. You could had used it better
I wonder how accurate this data is, in many countries they do not have any data on large parts of the population, so this is bound to be rough estimates.
@miesko123 This shows that we are dependent on mass immigration and integration in Europe to be able to sustain our infrastructure, economy and development. This in combination with preparations for the future to make ends meet.
Anyone who looks at fertility figures in Europe will be shocked. Italy has such a low fertility rate that the government is paying citizens to have more children. The fertility rate should be 2.1 in order to maintain the population. In order to achieve this fertility increase, governments should provide tax breaks for young families with 2 or more children, employers should give parents more paternity leave & people should marry younger, as the younger a woman, the higher her rate of fertility.
I love Hans Blix. I mean Rosling. So good. Educational with entertainment added in-very stimulating. My only qualm is that I think he's colour blind. I don't see brown there, I see orange. But maybe he's trying to prove a point that we can all see what ever we want and it doesn't make a big difference in a lot of instances. Keep up the good work Hans. Thanks for posting.

All this shows how bulk of the population is performing genetical suicide. Human gene pool is going to be much poorer in the future :(

@zefvor The human gene pool wasn't that big from the beginning of our existence ;)

Still Europeans are against raising pensionable age or prefer mass immigration and becoming a minority in their own countries in 50/80 years?

Very nice made. Unfortunately it's getting worse. Germany's population growth turned out to be about 0, slightly decreasing.
SocietasEuropa 3 years ago 3
This is not not about growth SocietasEuropa. It is about children per woman. Growth = children born+immigrants - people that die+emigrants.
tjeerdomaat 2 years ago
Well 1,33 children per woman in Germany . So that's a 0 for that case...

Very good, thanks, I showed it in my class as 'proof' of the aging of our populations
