Inherently secure yes, but keep in mind you are always inherently in danger as well. This is the nature of open source. You could download a package for your Linux system that is very secure but then at the same time download an untrusted app that could render parts of your linux kernel inoperable. It is easy for applications to break the inherit trust of its users by requiring them to type in their pass for system wide access. This vulnerability makes Linux no less secure than Windows.
I would be a full time linux user if it weren't for what I do and some applications I depend on. A few of them I can run under wine but a lot of them I can't.

@AlmostAGamer i game exclusively on console because i cant afford the pc required to play these games. the processor equivalent of a ps3 on pc alone would be $1000. too many pc gamers disregard console games. they are all great. and yes, true gamers will always own a machine designed specifically for games.(console) and you cant call yourself a gamer if you dont own a nintendo or atari of any kind. real gamers appreciate the whole evolution of gaming, not just 'better graphics'.

Things like Banshee music player are just plain horrible, and software like pro video editors (i.e. Vegas or Premiere) are simply non-existent on Linux. I have a toshiba satellite but I do not have the disk to restore factory settings! How do I do a factory reset and make that switch? Is it like windows 7 where all i need to do in install and it will wipe all prior data?
@illmatic33 you dont need to restore it to factory defaults, you just need to either partition your drive if you want to run it alongside windows or if you want it to single boot linux you just have the live cd take care of all the work for you
@xe3tec Desktop Reasons: You need more tha 1 desktop to keep you organized?, I don;t think so, And If you need so, there's software for that, again, nosense comparisons

I just went into previous working ubuntu and it worked but now i have to go through couple of selections just to get ubuntu working. If you are new to linux make sure to have a windows on or bsd on second partition just in case.
@RaphaniacZX piracy is not bad... and technically it's a legit machine with windows 7 loader.. microsoft can't track it :P loads the slick OEM key before windows loads. free shit for the win?
@norge696 thats illegal and you will get in trouble, plus torrents are FULL of viruses, linux distro is ABSOLUTELY free no waiting countless hours on a torrent
@MrCocoashot It's only illegal if you get caught. and there is no such thing as "countless hours" when you have a beast connection. and as for viruses.. you must be a fucking retard if you manage to get a virus from a torrent.. you cannot "stuff" a virus in a .iso file. it's physically impossible. trust me kiddo, I used to write my own back doors.
@norge696 So your saying its legal to murder someone, as long as you dont get caught? your a fucking retard. Most people who pirate operating systems don't have enough money for a fast connection. Torrents are the most common way to spread trojan viruses. Trust me idiot, I just made your statement seem dumb.
I really love Linux and the interface is a lot better than Windows 7. Also, Linux is customizable so you can change it to fit you!! The problem is the lack of support for many programs such as MS Office, Sony Vegas, AutoCAD, games, and many popular programs. Sure, there are Linux alternatives but they really don't match up to the commercial programs.
@idennisping I'm a guy that used both Linux and Windows options and I can tell you much of the Linux interfaces I had seen are always worse than my modified Windows interface, and with thing like Gnome 3 and, KDE 4 and Unity we're loosing even more, Linux always fit, but Windows is the central operative system
Isn't Zorin OS some kind of Ubuntu derivative trying to look like Windows, getting paid while at it?
Nobody knows about Zorin OS, while everybody heard about Ubuntu. Why are people trying to do this?
I use Linux on a daily basis and I can honestly say that this is not the Linux that I would like to represent as being "Linux 2011" and why would you want to match Apples and Oranges in the first place?
@Mantua64 I think that's true, but If you see it this way Ubuntu is a derivation of Debian and It had settled with enough time, now Linux Mint is overtaking Ubuntu because of Unity at the MATE stuff, If the most the actual users from Linux came because the don't want anymore Windows, not to get linux modified version to look like windows
@1shotzbruz I hope you know that Linux isn't a company. And linux is by far more secure than windows and wont slow down over time. I know that from experience. Never heard of Zorin OS though, but it looks promising. I'm gonna try it out. I'm sick of windows.
@SirMrTony Don't even mention iTunes here on Linux screen cast videos. No fruity fruits either. You don't know how to rip .mp3 files or the better format .flac and .ogg? What you never heard about torrent? You don't know how to create a folder, copy by drag and drop?
@SirMrTony iTunes is a bad example. It only runs on Mac anyway. It crawls on Windows. Apple can take its iTunes and shove it into whichever orifice is least comfortable >:(
ofc zorin is gr8, but you got thin purple glasses. For example linux has plenty, even paid games, but very litle "AAA". But for office, browsing or programming it is much more better than windows.
These are just approximate so just to let you know, if you're going to get the world's slowest Windows 7 netbook then install linux as soon as possible.
The only reason why people think windows is better than linux is that most game developers are only making games for windows. And trust me, its really hard work making something work on linux that was never ment to work there at all.
@1shotzbruz No, nobody paid me. I simply created this video to show other people alternatives to commercial software. Windows 7 is fantastic, and I still use it almost every other day, but I was wanting to show people like yourself what Linux can do for those who are looking for an explanation. I wasn't wanting to bag on Windows...in the end, like I said in the video, always use what works best for you. Not what somebody else says is best for you. Peace out :-)
@KwyjiboIsAnApe All Linux systems come with a program called Wine which lets you run the vast majority of windows software even if you un-install windows.

Okay, now compare Windows 7 and Zorin 5 in the gaming area? Yes, you did note a single game, however a single game doesn't do it, compare many games.
Will BF3 run on Zorin? How about an indie game like Terraria? There are many programs that don't run on Zorin/linux that run on Windows.
Windows beats Linux in the gaming front.
Linux beats it in every other area though.

do zorin OS support windows based PC games? like COD MW1 or 2 i guess what was he playing ?
paulicapopcorn 2 months ago
@paulicapopcorn Works under Wine imulator. However Windows game in Linux isn't a feature and not supposed to be in this video i think...
Videotubelord 2 months ago
The only reason you might want to keep Windows is for running games and maybe because it's more familiar to you. And that's all...no other reason.

@1shotzbruz LOLOLOLOLOL MAC OS? What the hell are you smoking? Get some knowledge.
LaxBros4Life 2 months ago
For people who are used to working on a Mac, Elementary OS might be a good shot :p
broederjacobs 2 months ago
Linux 2011? Maybe you should change that to Zorin OS? :p
broederjacobs 2 months ago
@broederjacobs i agree. Linux is much more than Zorin OS!
Like Ubuntu ;)
Markcortbass 2 months ago
@1shotzbruz I hope you know that Linux isn't a company. And linux is by far more secure than windows and wont slow down over time. I know that from experience. Never heard of Zorin OS though, but it looks promising. I'm gonna try it out. I'm sick of windows.

What about apps like iTunes? Chrome? Blah blah blah. Most programs only have it for MAC and Windows.

@SirMrTony iTunes no, Chrome yes!

@InfinitelyGalactic itunes can run on linux
mboy3515 1 month ago
@InfinitelyGalactic so it wont operate itunes? does that mean we cant have ipods operating with it?
link2299 1 month ago
@link2299 There are ways around using iTunes for that, but college podcasts on iTunes may be a different story.
jag9998 1 month ago
@SirMrTony There are alternatives, bro, and you can run many Windows programs on Linux with Wine or Mono.
munchluxe63 2 months ago
@SirMrTony There are alternative softwares that do the same as itunes for linux, they aso will work with your ipod.:]

@SirMrTony wine.

@SirMrTony Don't even mention iTunes here on Linux screen cast videos. No fruity fruits either. You don't know how to rip .mp3 files or the better format .flac and .ogg? What you never heard about torrent? You don't know how to create a folder, copy by drag and drop?
sweetasiansugar 1 month ago
@SirMrTony iTunes is a bad example. It only runs on Mac anyway. It crawls on Windows. Apple can take its iTunes and shove it into whichever orifice is least comfortable >:(

Thank you. I'm looking to retry Linux, (on an bit older P, with 4 HT 3,000Mhz and about 1Kb RAM), computer.
Tried other Distros' of Linux before but had issues.
Films4You 2 months ago
@Films4You The only thing I say about this video is Windows has millions of good Freeware to use.
Films4You 2 months ago
@Films4You
Thats true.. However Linux offers lots features out of the box for free :) And with repositories with 10.000 of apps :)

Try PCLinuxOS
MrDemilord 2 months ago
ofc zorin is gr8, but you got thin purple glasses. For example linux has plenty, even paid games, but very litle "AAA". But for office, browsing or programming it is much more better than windows.
aiphe 2 months ago
@aiphe
For daily tasks linux is way better and safer... For die hard gaming... yes windows..
MrDemilord 2 months ago
@1shotzbruz All linux users talk how good Linux is because (like you said) we all get paid. Want to join us and get paid as well?

@mrvideosandgames - there's no reason Windows should take 5 minutes to boot for anyone unless they've done something wrong.
Taima 2 months ago
@Taima Not necessarily, Windows is full of bloat, so if his computer doesn't meet the specs, then it would do something like that.
barbariandude 2 months ago
@nijokaz ah so then what distro has the best ratio of easy to use-ness and features?
Taima 2 months ago
@Taima Think Linux Mint is closest to windows. There are others like ZorinOS, but I don't know what apps it has.
MsPwain 2 months ago
@Taima I'd say Ubuntu, but the thing about GNU/Linux is that if you ask 10 people you get 10 answers. It's all about choice and freedom, after all.
barbariandude 2 months ago
I have a netbook. Look at this:
Windows 7 startup time: 5 minutes
Linux Ubuntu startup time: 30 seconds
These are just approximate so just to let you know, if you're going to get the world's slowest Windows 7 netbook then install linux as soon as possible.
Mrvideosandgames 2 months ago
linux is great but i am a gamer and there are almost no games for linux so i use win7 all the time
brandon20xxx 2 months ago
I would get Linux, but, I'm a big PC gamer. And, based upon my deductions, Linux is sort of limited for gaming. So, I use Windows 7.
Maddehh26 2 months ago 6
So which Linux distro would be the best for Windows based games?
Taima 2 months ago
@Taima none really... they'd mostly be pretty much the same
Nijokaz 2 months ago
nice video man
Tuoppios1 2 months ago
