  • Inherently secure yes, but keep in mind you are always inherently in danger as well. This is the nature of open source. You could download a package for your Linux system that is very secure but then at the same time download an untrusted app that could render parts of your linux kernel inoperable. It is easy for applications to break the inherit trust of its users by requiring them to type in their pass for system wide access. This vulnerability makes Linux no less secure than Windows.

  • I would be a full time linux user if it weren't for what I do and some applications I depend on. A few of them I can run under wine but a lot of them I can't.

  • This comparison was pleasant as fuck!

  • i think windows 8 will overpower everything and will come with samller casing and faster preformance as well asup to 2 - 4 graphics card slots and erm.... fuck it... xD

  • Where can I download zorin OS?

  • @annom12 google...

  • only kids play games. LOL

  • OS X LION FTW

  • If I didn't game I probably would seriously consider using a Linux OS

  • @thcbrentall Partition your hardrive and use both.

  • BUT I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!!!! :(

  • libre/openoffice can be on windows too....

  • I'm switching to Ubuntu when Windows 8 is the dominant OS, the layout is just disgusting.

  • @camerondryan1 I installed the developer release of Win 8 in a Virtual Machine. I booted it up once, and pretty much lost interest then and there. The start up view is awkward, and not my friend.

  • Windows 7 will set you back £300. No it wont, even 4 ppl who havent pirated it they ussually get it free with their pc.

  • @JOOP60606

lol. The price of the new pc is of course including windows 7.

  • Tu Polska, przejmujemy ten zacny film. Great film :)

  • say, what about my programs I got on w7? the adobe products, office etc. will I be able to reinstall them if I go Zorin?

  • wait.. just ome question, will mimecraft and crafbukkit servers work with Zorin?

  • he noted mw what about bf3 mw3 world of warcraft they need some thing like windows mac or even the mighty alien ware so if you were a gamer spit on linux

  • tell me 1 thing I play games is zorin good for games???

  • @TheKlisa Yes, older games can work in Zorin OS, but more modern games might struggle. COD4 and Assassin's Creed and below, work fine.

  • @InfinitelyGalactic can u make tutorial how to instal it I search on google read everting but I dont understand it

  • @InfinitelyGalactic Provided you use Wine,

  • @analyzingfunny Dude you need to learn to chill yes Windows is shit we all no that except for Windows fags yes I use Windows 7 Ultimate cause I play some games but on the 'low low' i didn't pay a cent *cough cough* ISO *cough cough* Windows Loader. but Ubuntu is crappy come back when you can install Gentoo and fully customize it. :P TEAM LINUX.

  • What did you use to record your Zorin os 5? I need it!

  • ya. after trying linux. i not sure if i want go back

  • I might get linux, it should be the top OS

  • does battlefield 3 runs on Zorin??because in vista(which i have) is very very slow....so if anyone could tell me if zorin can run BF3??plz

  • lol i say linux Ownt Windows

  • Microsoft is so easy to update any system How about Mac OS?

  • I installed Zorin OS 3 on my gf's notebook. She is now a Linux fan, and hates using Windows Pc's as she has become accustomed to the speed of Linux. She is now using Zorin OS 5 and are very happy. She is using a Acer Aspire One ZG5 btw, a 5 yr old notebook.

  • ppl hate windows, and thay comment from windows pc.

  • @Dragonxett

why do you think people running windows are looking at this vid?

its becuase they want a new comp or want to see if Linux is faster/better!!

  • @Dragonxett I don't "hate" Windows, but prefer Linux for all the points mentioned in this video. Many people who still use Windows will probably agree that's it's a necessity for any gamer. That's why in my opinion is best to dual boot/have a separate gaming pc.

  • @Dragonxett no, some (like me) comment from firefox on ubuntu. or for some macs, or some zorin, et cetera.

  • How do you lineup those desktops next to each other? I can only have cube without possibility to move windows from one desktop to another.

  • wow, now that i saw this video, im trully thinking about switching over to linux. right now i have windows 7 starter and ive had my laptop for a year now and its getting slower. do you guys think i should switch over to linux? if i dont like linux, can i go back to windiws without playing a cent?

  • @waisodim666 You should absolutely switch to Linux! I don't know about Zorin OS, but with Ubuntu you can dual-boot it with Windows.

  • @waisodim666 if i were you i would first try linux out using live CDs (don't install linux side by side with windows, it can mess the OS up), if you are happy with it then i suggest you back up the windows system (in case you change your mind) and install Linux.

  • Okay, now compare Windows 7 and Zorin 5 in the gaming area? Yes, you did note a single game, however a single game doesn't do it, compare many games.

Will BF3 run on Zorin? How about an indie game like Terraria? There are many programs that don't run on Zorin/linux that run on Windows.

Windows beats Linux in the gaming front.

Linux beats it in every other area though.

  • @AlmostAGamer Truth...you are 100% correct.

  • @InfinitelyGalactic this looks perfect , it looks better than ubuntu or min imo. Just one question , can i download msn , play warcraft frozen throne and tf2 at least on zorin? It's mainly those 3 programs im woried about. And , most importantly , can i type in greek as well? That's essential....Anyway , if it does not accept any of the 3 programs i mentioned earlier can you please tell me if you think it's better than ubuntu and/or mint? Thanks :)

  • @AlmostAGamer not every one is not a gamer idiot and plus gaming is moving to consoles

  • @younggeek1 I never said anything that included "gamer" and "idiot" in the same sentence. I didn't even talk about consoles.

Although every gamer who games EXCLUSIVELY on a console is an idiot. And anyone who says that gaming is moving to consoles is pretty misinformed, because it is very clear that everyone is going multi-platform.

  • @AlmostAGamer i game exclusively on console because i cant afford the pc required to play these games. the processor equivalent of a ps3 on pc alone would be $1000. too many pc gamers disregard console games. they are all great. and yes, true gamers will always own a machine designed specifically for games.(console) and you cant call yourself a gamer if you dont own a nintendo or atari of any kind. real gamers appreciate the whole evolution of gaming, not just 'better graphics'.

  • @AlmostAGamer Doesn't run on your MAC either

  • @AlmostAGamer I'm not saying you're wrong in any way, I'm just trying to give you and other gamers a tip. Many games, altough not all, are playable on Linux machines using Wine. Wine is a program which is capable of executing Windows files such as .exe.

  • @AlmostAGamer If you're a gamer you don't use a Linux based OS you use Windows unless you go through all the trouble of setting up wine but then theirs still issues, I'm a programmer but I also like to game on occasions which is why I also run Windows so it's not really a big issue.

  • @TheITComPuterGuy yah its not a big issue. Its only a fucking monopolistic crime, and you are supporting it. Read "The Halloween Papers" it was microsofts plan for YOU. really it was. But it got leaked. It shows you how those Microsoft fuckers think.

  • @AlmostAGamer o yea :3 i have linux

  • @AlmostAGamer But that is only because the gamers and game developers are in bed with Microsoft and dont WANT to quit getting fucked up the ass by them. If the gamers would quit getting dicked for one second and demand games to be released for LInux, your games would run better.

  • @analyzingfunny I know, it's sad but true.

The consoles are in the same boat. :(

  • @AlmostAGamer you could always use linux as your OS and have windows 7 as your second OS when you want to run games.

  • @Aeonation This is exactly what I do. :)

  • @AlmostAGamer although that ofcourse has nothing to do with Linux itself. The reason for that is game-developers don't make ports of their games for Linux.

You can't really blame Linux for that.

  • @RichieRich1986 Yes, I know this.

  • @AlmostAGamer UMAD BRO?

  • Linux is better than Windows, no question about it. The only limitation is the software developers make for it. However, I use a Mac and I love it. It is better than any Linux distro I have found... apart from Android... which you only get on phones... lol

  • I might switch to a Linux OS when Windows 8 becomes the norm

  • Comment removed

  • @DrDeso1 lol, i might switch to windows 8 from linux if it's any good.

  • @mmamilano I have my fingers crossed for win8, but so far it looks like it's going downhill

  • @DrDeso1 same here, windows 8 is going to fail.

  • mac or pc u pay u can complan

  • i tried Linux but most them don't work probably and other are very unstable and there to meaey of them

  • I've been using Windows computers all my life and even with its flashy gadgets and shiz, I still wouldn't use Linux!

  • Linux is the best because, while windows is NEW and ALL THAT, it has many bugs because of it being, well NEW, while Linux is a better interface and desktop that windows 7, I admit Linux have bugs, but very minimal, poop

  • You failed to address the flaws of Linux. Namely, the fact that while free, the software for Linux is generally terrible - and I mean even worse that Microsoft Live. Things like Banshee music player are just plain horrible, and software like pro video editors (i.e. Vegas or Premiere) are simply non-existent on Linux. Wine lets a limited number of Windows apps to run with a great deal of complexity, but it is not just as easy as you said, and definitely not as efficiently.

  • @PoliticalHell zorin doesnt only use wine,

it also uses Playonlinux which makes you able to launch programs the same way you launch windows programs.

And saying linux software is terrible is a very subjective argument.

  • so if i download zorin can i still install n run stuff like adobe cs5 and other software

  • Linux looks great, but it would be WAY better if i could keep all of my stuff like itunes.

  • wow i thought linux was shit compared to windows, but just WOW LINUX just kicked windows big fat ass

  • Is Adobe compatible to Adobe products such as Adobe Photoshop.....?

  • in this video at minute 1.07 to 1.10 on zorin .. how you do like that ... what the hotkeys or have any installer.?

  • the linux 2011 wins i was tinking to try in the virtual box

  • OMG YOU USED INTERNET EXPLORER! :O

  • Hey I am so f*cking sick of windows vitsa. I am looking to switch to the "dark side". A friend told me about Linux and I came across this video. All my files are already backed up. I have a toshiba satellite but I do not have the disk to restore factory settings! How do I do a factory reset and make that switch? Is it like windows 7 where all i need to do in install and it will wipe all prior data?

    Thanks!!!!

  • @illmatic33

You don't need a factory reset to switch to Linux.

  • @illmatic33 you dont need to restore it to factory defaults, you just need to either partition your drive if you want to run it alongside windows or if you want it to single boot linux you just have the live cd take care of all the work for you

  • Desktop Comparison? Windows : 1 Desktop, Linux : whatever you want!

  • @xe3tec Desktop Reasons: You need more tha 1 desktop to keep you organized?, I don;t think so, And If you need so, there's software for that, again, nosense comparisons

  • Wasn't Zorin one of the bad guys in Star Trek?

  • I'm also had to alt+f2 to go into shell mode and add and remove my nvidia drivers or modify files to get ubuntu working again. Linux is too damn buggy. and it needs applications like autocad, coreldraw, photoshop,3d studio max, maya, quickbooks, more drivers, and finally professional video games imported from directx to opengl or some new graphics api. Linux without software not shareware crap is boring and unusable. Windows 7 better intuitive user interface gui than gnome 3 unity.

  • Running windows 7 and ubuntu 11.10 in dualboot and it's a good thing I have windows 7 because I had nothing but failures with ubuntu and other linux distros. ubuntu would no longer boot into gnome just stay in the shell at /etc/default/saned while booting. I just went into previous working ubuntu and it worked but now i have to go through couple of selections just to get ubuntu working. If you are new to linux make sure to have a windows on or bsd on second partition just in case.

  • Windows 7 is free, just torrent it and use Win7 Loader <3 :)

  • @norge696 No, You can't have for free by ilegal ways, but Windows 7 is a cost operative system, and yeah, the piracy is bad buddy'

  • @RaphaniacZX piracy is not bad... and technically it's a legit machine with windows 7 loader.. microsoft can't track it :P loads the slick OEM key before windows loads. free shit for the win?

  • @norge696 thats illegal and you will get in trouble, plus torrents are FULL of viruses, linux distro is ABSOLUTELY free no waiting countless hours on a torrent

  • @MrCocoashot It's only illegal if you get caught. and there is no such thing as "countless hours" when you have a beast connection. and as for viruses.. you must be a fucking retard if you manage to get a virus from a torrent.. you cannot "stuff" a virus in a .iso file. it's physically impossible. trust me kiddo, I used to write my own back doors.

  • @norge696 So your saying its legal to murder someone, as long as you dont get caught? your a fucking retard. Most people who pirate operating systems don't have enough money for a fast connection. Torrents are the most common way to spread trojan viruses. Trust me idiot, I just made your statement seem dumb.

  • @MrCocoashot it's "you're" dumb ass. and you can't get a virus from a torrent if you know what you're doing :D

  • I really love Linux and the interface is a lot better than Windows 7. Also, Linux is customizable so you can change it to fit you!! The problem is the lack of support for many programs such as MS Office, Sony Vegas, AutoCAD, games, and many popular programs. Sure, there are Linux alternatives but they really don't match up to the commercial programs.

  • @idennisping I'm a guy that used both Linux and Windows options and I can tell you much of the Linux interfaces I had seen are always worse than my modified Windows interface, and with thing like Gnome 3 and, KDE 4 and Unity we're loosing even more, Linux always fit, but Windows is the central operative system

  • Linux sucks dick

  • Isn't Zorin OS some kind of Ubuntu derivative trying to look like Windows, getting paid while at it?

Nobody knows about Zorin OS, while everybody heard about Ubuntu. Why are people trying to do this?

I use Linux on a daily basis and I can honestly say that this is not the Linux that I would like to represent as being "Linux 2011" and why would you want to match Apples and Oranges in the first place?

  • @Mantua64 I think that's true, but If you see it this way Ubuntu is a derivation of Debian and It had settled with enough time, now Linux Mint is overtaking Ubuntu because of Unity at the MATE stuff, If the most the actual users from Linux came because the don't want anymore Windows, not to get linux modified version to look like windows

  • Its an ubuntu.

  • does zorin OS support windows gaming ? like COD MW1 ?

  • do zorin OS support windows based PC games? like COD MW1 or 2 i guess what was he playing ?

  • @paulicapopcorn Works under Wine imulator. However Windows game in Linux isn't a feature and not supposed to be in this video i think...

  • The only reason you might want to keep Windows is for running games and maybe because it's more familiar to you. And that's all...no other reason.

  • wiindows windows blalvlalvallavlalvlva windows y LInux

    I love Linux + 10 xd

  • @1shotzbruz LOLOLOLOLOL MAC OS? What the hell are you smoking? Get some knowledge.

  • For people who are used to working on a Mac, Elementary OS might be a good shot :p

  • Linux 2011? Maybe you should change that to Zorin OS? :p

  • @broederjacobs i agree. Linux is much more than Zorin OS!

    Like Ubuntu ;)

  • @1shotzbruz I hope you know that Linux isn't a company. And linux is by far more secure than windows and wont slow down over time. I know that from experience. Never heard of Zorin OS though, but it looks promising. I'm gonna try it out. I'm sick of windows.

  • What about apps like iTunes? Chrome? Blah blah blah. Most programs only have it for MAC and Windows.

  • @SirMrTony iTunes no, Chrome yes!

  • @InfinitelyGalactic itunes can run on linux

  • @InfinitelyGalactic so it wont operate itunes? does that mean we cant have ipods operating with it?

  • @link2299 There are ways around using iTunes for that, but college podcasts on iTunes may be a different story.

  • @SirMrTony There are alternatives, bro, and you can run many Windows programs on Linux with Wine or Mono.

  • @SirMrTony There are alternative softwares that do the same as itunes for linux, they aso will work with your ipod.:]

  • @SirMrTony wine.

  • @SirMrTony Don't even mention iTunes here on Linux screen cast videos. No fruity fruits either. You don't know how to rip .mp3 files or the better format .flac and .ogg? What you never heard about torrent? You don't know how to create a folder, copy by drag and drop?

  • @SirMrTony iTunes is a bad example. It only runs on Mac anyway. It crawls on Windows. Apple can take its iTunes and shove it into whichever orifice is least comfortable >:(

  • Thank you. I'm looking to retry Linux, (on an bit older P, with 4 HT 3,000Mhz and about 1Kb RAM), computer.

Tried other Distros' of Linux before but had issues.

  • @Films4You The only thing I say about this video is Windows has millions of good Freeware to use.

  • @Films4You

Thats true.. However Linux offers lots features out of the box for free :) And with repositories with 10.000 of apps :)

  • @MrDemilord Thnk You for this information

It makes me much more willing to try updated Linux again, after fails before :)

  • @Films4You

    With what? Hardware? Software?

  • @MrDemilord > Mainboard : Abit IC7/IC7-G(Intel i875P-ICH5) > Chipset : Intel i875PE > Processor : Intel Pentium 4 @ 3000 MHz > Physical Memory : 1024 MB (2 x 512 DDR-SDRAM ) > Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT > Hard Disk : ST380023AS (80 GB) > Hard Disk : WDC (160 GB) > DVD-Rom Drive : _NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A

    Bios : Phoenix Technologies, LTD

Tried a few Linux: Tiny, Ubuntu and a few others but no joy: but I don't give up so will try agian in a few weeks

  • @Films4You

    Try PCLinuxOS

  • ofc zorin is gr8, but you got thin purple glasses. For example linux has plenty, even paid games, but very litle "AAA". But for office, browsing or programming it is much more better than windows.

  • @aiphe

For daily tasks linux is way better and safer... For die hard gaming... yes windows..

  • @1shotzbruz All linux users talk how good Linux is because (like you said) we all get paid. Want to join us and get paid as well?

  • @Videotubelord continue...

  • Winner: Lion

  • @mrvideosandgames - there's no reason Windows should take 5 minutes to boot for anyone unless they've done something wrong.

  • @Taima Not necessarily, Windows is full of bloat, so if his computer doesn't meet the specs, then it would do something like that.

  • @nijokaz ah so then what distro has the best ratio of easy to use-ness and features?

  • @Taima Think Linux Mint is closest to windows. There are others like ZorinOS, but I don't know what apps it has.

  • @Taima I'd say Ubuntu, but the thing about GNU/Linux is that if you ask 10 people you get 10 answers. It's all about choice and freedom, after all.

  • I have a netbook. Look at this:

Windows 7 startup time: 5 minutes

Linux Ubuntu startup time: 30 seconds

These are just approximate so just to let you know, if you're going to get the world's slowest Windows 7 netbook then install linux as soon as possible.

  • linux is great but i am a gamer and there are almost no games for linux so i use win7 all the time

  • I would get Linux, but, I'm a big PC gamer. And, based upon my deductions, Linux is sort of limited for gaming. So, I use Windows 7.

  • So which Linux distro would be the best for Windows based games?

  • @Taima none really... they'd mostly be pretty much the same

  • nice video man

  • The only reason why people think windows is better than linux is that most game developers are only making games for windows. And trust me, its really hard work making something work on linux that was never ment to work there at all.

  • L.I.N.U.X .for LIFE

  • 3009?

  • @1shotzbruz No, nobody paid me. I simply created this video to show other people alternatives to commercial software. Windows 7 is fantastic, and I still use it almost every other day, but I was wanting to show people like yourself what Linux can do for those who are looking for an explanation. I wasn't wanting to bag on Windows...in the end, like I said in the video, always use what works best for you. Not what somebody else says is best for you. Peace out :-)

  • @InfinitelyGalactic SHUT UP ! Windows Xp Beast<3 LOL

  • what's better win7 mac os x or this linux???:/

  • @NEWSoyeR Win7 and this is not linux

  • @NEWSoyeR definately os x :D

  • Guess what I'm still sticking to my Windows 7!

  • ubuntu linux all the way!

  • what about things like itunes?

  • @KwyjiboIsAnApe All Linux systems come with a program called Wine which lets you run the vast majority of windows software even if you un-install windows.

  • Vinod Datta <3

  • What is the background music?

It sounds really great and it would a great pleasure if you would share it.

  • @MegaTechToday Yup, have a look in the video description, I've put links etc.

  • @InfinitelyGalactic It gave me this error:
