I'am brazilian and i'm trying to contextualize the lyrics, although my English is not very good: "Bat Macumba êÊ Bat Macumba oba"

The word "macumba" refer to south-african religions, popular in Brazil, there a sound-relationship between the prefix "bat" about the character "Batman" with the word "bate"(hits) which derives from the verb "bater"(hit) which in turn references the use of percussions in the religious exercise.

Bat Macumba could be translated to something like "It's Black Voodoo, yo!", nowadays.

Bat Macumba is a word play with what would be Bate (literally "hit it" or just "hit") and Macumba (which isn't really voodoo, but an african-brazilian folk-religious dance ritual, very apreciated for its cultural value... by the well informed open minded brazilians). Bate Macumba is a popular saying, whenever the adepts are dancing or playing we say they're batendo (hitting) macumba, as an analogy to the characteristic drum beats that make the ritual's music.

@Luxverus Cara, achar Bat Macumba ruim é um aopnião pessoal e que não condiz com a opnião da maioria, pra mim é uma música foda e mostra o quanto Os Mutantes eram perfeormers criativos já que mesmo sendo composta pelo Gilberto Gil a versão dos Mutantes é mito melhor e praticametne definitiva.

A única ocisa que eu lamento é a banda não ter executado a música como devia, na forma de "poeasia concreta", descontruindo e reconstruindo a letra na metade final, mas enfim..
