I don't like the B747 alot, i flew 1 time on the Lufthansa's B747 from Frankfurt to Sydney, I didn't like the flight, I prefer the Airbus planes, I think they're more safety than other plane. An exemple of it, is TAP Portugal, she has 0 accidents since 1945, and it is an All Airbus company. And last week, she has nomeated by Global Traveller for the best europe company.
what about you get a problem with the fuel system and all engines flame out. The 747 cant land in any runway. It needs a very long one. My favorite plane is the 737-800. I could land in any runway and is very fuel efficient.
you are aware of that 2500 people has died on board a 747? its fatality rate is 0.8 per million, which is terrible. comparably the 737-800 is at 0.1...
ARE YOU CRAZY?! IF there are many passengers on board (more than two engine planes) it will be heavy and it will drop down! and if the plane engines stops the last one will also stop a minute or later! dont you have a brain??
747 is a great plane but had some problems with cargo doors failing, all now fixed though. It first came into service in 1970. I would not hesitate to fly on one.
Guys listen: the 5 747 crashes that happened in the world:
1: Pilot error
2: Poor weather
3: Bad staff (Ignored a leak)
4: 747 created accident
5: Pilot error
Only one crash was due to a major fault in the plane. Some dumb-ass at Boeing decided to put heating air vents under a fuel tank (TWA 800). So really, the 747 is safe!
@Corvette35000 Don't know where you got the idea that there have only ever been 5 747 crashes, but it's incorrect. In total, there have been 26 fatal 747 accidents. TWA800 was not due to 'some dumb-ass at Boeing' installing something wrong on that particular plane, it was an actual design feature.
@Corvette35000 Why don't you simply fire up Google, instead of wanting everything spoonfed to you? It's not like there isn't any information out there on TWA800, and exactly what went wrong...
the 747 is one of the safest and has the best saftey records of course its has its crashes it debuted in 1969 over 30 decades of flight most 747 crashes are human errors terrorist attacks because of the less tight security back in the days when ws the last 747 crash? tenerife was all human errors etc some 747-100s are still running carrying cargo all those years and still safe 747 was made when aeronautical engineering was bleak and still they managed to built such a plane

The 747 is one of the most unsafe aircraft flying, you are more likely to die on a 747 than any other commercial aircraft. I like the 747 but to call it the safest is just wrong with no facts to back it up. And in your description to the video you say the 747 can continue with 1 engine, it can't. The 747 will descend with one engine hence the reason it needs 4. Also kid go get a dictionary and re-type your description.
@cheesemaster1000 Your comment is false, from boeings and airbuses plane with highest fatality rate is boeing 707, probably russian TU-154 have even worse. Then comes 747 classic, and 747-400 is further away.
You should not talk about facts to others when your comments are just bullshit. But yeah, 747 is not the safest either.
@cheesemaster1000 the 747-400 is designed to fly on two engines minimum but one engine its bye bye it you only have one engine unless ur near an airport when it happens, and thiers not been a 747-400 crash in a while to my records.
@cheesemaster1000 but then you have to ask yourself the question was it UPS'S fault in poor maintenance cos a lot of 747's crashed cos of that you know. and another thing was what model was it? if it was an earlier one then they did have a tendency to go wrong just like that no reason but if it was a 400 series i can't see that being Boeing's fault.
@cheesemaster1000 and apparently it was seen on fire before it crashed, it rare for a 747 to crash especially a newer one, must of not been maintained properly
@guitarplayerforu stop finding excuses, UPS maintain very well. Anyway the -400 has a hell of a lot of fatigue issues. Remember that Qantas one that blew in flight a couple of years ago?
@cheesemaster1000 well how come then virgin Atlantic's fleet is mainly 747-400's and not 1 one of them have crashed ever? and b4 that they had the 200 series and not one of them crashed either. like i said not all the time but the majority of the time it's the way there looked after by people, it's like cars if you look after a car well it will last you roughly 10-15 years from new. same thing with aircraft's. i been a aviation enthusiast since age 7 and i'm now 19 so i do know my stuff.
@guitarplayerforu Actually Virgin have twice as many A340s as 747s! True it is down to maintenance but you can't blame airlines for metal fatigue also I'm not so sure you do.
@cheesemaster1000 i knew they had a340's aswell but they never use them for routes like orlando and stuff, and no your right you can't blame airlines for metal fatigue, i took a test of my knowledge of aircraft's and got 80% and also got 78% on my knowledge of aircraft flight deck instruments. i virgin Atlantic's future fleet will be Boeing 787 DREAMLINERS, Airbus A380's. i think Richard branson said he's going to buy more 787's if Airbus don't deliver his a380's on time and cancel the a380.
@guitarplayerforu okay so they don't fly to orlando, but they are unprofitable routes! A340s fly on the New York and Los Angeles routes the most profitable. I doubt virgin will cancel their A380 order, too much of a commitment to cancel now. Anyway the 787 has bigger delays so why would you cancel a delayed aircraft to order one that is even more delayed? doesn't make sence
@cheesemaster1000 why did we have the maximum capacity of 451 passengers going to Orlando then if they wasn't a profitable routes, they wanted £240 each just to upgrade from economy to premium economy and for upper class for the 4 of us it would have been £5,000 each, we just stuck to economy. and its better Boeing not putting it into service than putting it into service with flaws and faults as flaws and faults = crashes = deaths. i reckon the a380 will crash in future just like b747 did at1st
@cheesemaster1000 and also virgin Atlantic have ordered 15 Boeing 787-9 DREAMLINERS and 6 Airbus a380's, a380's entering service in 2015 and 787's entering service in 2014. they already have 19 a340-600 and 12 b747-400
@cheesemaster1000 its 2015 their entering service with virgin atlantic go on google.com and type in virgin atlantic fleet and it should say our fleet click that and you'll see its 2015 when they get the a380
I agree with you. The 747 is one of the most safest aircraft. And I don't want anyone to comment bad things on this comment because you are not the experts on planes!!! Some of you people think you know the most about planes,but you don't!!!
@zacknatalie09 totally agree with you, leave it to us proper aviation enthusiasts who know our stuff about planes, the 747 is queen of the skies and some of the biggest airlines wouldn't have them in service if they were not the safest like people are making it out to be. i like the 747-400 been on a virgin atlantic one to orlando in may this year. 747 i think its been in service for about 50 years now.
Safe? Hardly, All are designed to be able to make a safe landing on 1 engine, but no 4 engine airliner can remain airborne on just one.
And if you want safe, I wouldn't pick a plane with this many problems, I'd go for the B777, A340 or even the Concorde. The last one flew for 30 years without fatalities.
I'm sorry but I wouldn't say the 747 is the safest. There have been 123 incidents, 48 hull losses related to the 747.
The safest (In my opinion) would either be the 717 (With 5 incedents and no hull losses) or the the 777 (With 5 incidents and 1 hull loss)
Someone may argue that the A380 should be up there with no incidents and hull losss related to the aircraft, however I wouldn't count this aircraft yet. It's only been in service 5 minuites so its a bit early to tell.
@ToInfinity1 it has been reported that air force one had bogus parts on it and the crew didn't have the slightest idea about it.an ntsb report proved it after an incident of a 747.
@lmfaoatu123 infact it has has crashed a lot more then 747,777,767,757 etc so stop thinking airbus and go boeing and you will see why =p ok but I am serious about going for boeing
@JMProductionzzz Il-96 have only few flight hours, so the fact that it have 0 crashes doesnt make it any safer than 767, 757, 777 and many others that have some hull losses, because they have much more flight hours, they fly more.
Correction zaphr89, Airbus A340 is not the safest commercial aircraft in the skies to date, All aircraft are safe, If they were not safe the NTSB wouldnt alow them to fly, But if you were to pick a possible safest aircraft it would have to be a mixed bag off aircraft such as the B747-200 and the B737-900 or 800 and the Airbus A380, and how do i know this im a pilot .
As of 17 May 2009, the A340 has not had a fatal incident, but there have been five hull-loss accidents;
2000
Singapore Airlines Flight 006, a 747-400 flying from Singapore to Los Angeles via Taipei, crashed into construction equipment on 31 October 2000 while attempting to take off from a closed runway at Taipei's Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. It caught fire and was destroyed, killing 79 passengers and three crew members.
no i think nothing is safe cause both company planes have their faults but if i have to choose i will say that beoing is safer because half of boeing airplane crashes were not all fatal. But france and their airplanes are all dangerous as you know france owns airbus. Air france just went down few weeks ago, the air france concord, air france in toronto and then their computerized plane that crashed on landing. plus all those planes were airbuses including others
you can blame half of those on pilot error... you can't judge an aircraft just on one accident. the one @ toronto should have been a missed approach, but the stupid pilot decided to land anyway
how many planes have ever gone down due to complete engine failure? very few if any! and if we go by your theory how about an 225 with 6 engines!
lol anyway it is more likley that some system failure will cause a plane to fall out of the sku such as total hydraulic or electrical failure! therefore the most likley thing to bring an aeroplane out of the sky is a fault made by one of the ground engineers!
NOPE!!!!! IT'S THE A340-600 THAT'S THE SAFEST... ''A340''

@cheesemaster1000 but then you have to ask yourself the question was it UPS'S fault in poor maintenance cos a lot of 747's crashed cos of that you know. and another thing was what model was it? if it was an earlier one then they did have a tendency to go wrong just like that no reason but if it was a 400 series i can't see that being Boeing's fault.
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@cheesemaster1000 and apparently it was seen on fire before it crashed, it rare for a 747 to crash especially a newer one, must of not been maintained properly
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@guitarplayerforu stop finding excuses, UPS maintain very well. Anyway the -400 has a hell of a lot of fatigue issues. Remember that Qantas one that blew in flight a couple of years ago?
cheesemaster1000 1 year ago
@cheesemaster1000 well how come then virgin Atlantic's fleet is mainly 747-400's and not 1 one of them have crashed ever? and b4 that they had the 200 series and not one of them crashed either. like i said not all the time but the majority of the time it's the way there looked after by people, it's like cars if you look after a car well it will last you roughly 10-15 years from new. same thing with aircraft's. i been a aviation enthusiast since age 7 and i'm now 19 so i do know my stuff.
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@guitarplayerforu Actually Virgin have twice as many A340s as 747s! True it is down to maintenance but you can't blame airlines for metal fatigue also I'm not so sure you do.
cheesemaster1000 1 year ago
@cheesemaster1000 i knew they had a340's aswell but they never use them for routes like orlando and stuff, and no your right you can't blame airlines for metal fatigue, i took a test of my knowledge of aircraft's and got 80% and also got 78% on my knowledge of aircraft flight deck instruments. i virgin Atlantic's future fleet will be Boeing 787 DREAMLINERS, Airbus A380's. i think Richard branson said he's going to buy more 787's if Airbus don't deliver his a380's on time and cancel the a380.
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@guitarplayerforu okay so they don't fly to orlando, but they are unprofitable routes! A340s fly on the New York and Los Angeles routes the most profitable. I doubt virgin will cancel their A380 order, too much of a commitment to cancel now. Anyway the 787 has bigger delays so why would you cancel a delayed aircraft to order one that is even more delayed? doesn't make sence
cheesemaster1000 1 year ago
@cheesemaster1000 why did we have the maximum capacity of 451 passengers going to Orlando then if they wasn't a profitable routes, they wanted £240 each just to upgrade from economy to premium economy and for upper class for the 4 of us it would have been £5,000 each, we just stuck to economy. and its better Boeing not putting it into service than putting it into service with flaws and faults as flaws and faults = crashes = deaths. i reckon the a380 will crash in future just like b747 did at1st
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@cheesemaster1000 and also virgin Atlantic have ordered 15 Boeing 787-9 DREAMLINERS and 6 Airbus a380's, a380's entering service in 2015 and 787's entering service in 2014. they already have 19 a340-600 and 12 b747-400
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@guitarplayerforu they've ordered fewer A380 cos they cost more and the A380 is entering in 2013
cheesemaster1000 1 year ago
@cheesemaster1000 its 2015 their entering service with virgin atlantic go on google.com and type in virgin atlantic fleet and it should say our fleet click that and you'll see its 2015 when they get the a380
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
I agree with you. The 747 is one of the most safest aircraft. And I don't want anyone to comment bad things on this comment because you are not the experts on planes!!! Some of you people think you know the most about planes,but you don't!!!
zacknatalie09 1 year ago
@zacknatalie09 and you do?
cheesemaster1000 1 year ago
@zacknatalie09 totally agree with you, leave it to us proper aviation enthusiasts who know our stuff about planes, the 747 is queen of the skies and some of the biggest airlines wouldn't have them in service if they were not the safest like people are making it out to be. i like the 747-400 been on a virgin atlantic one to orlando in may this year. 747 i think its been in service for about 50 years now.
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
Nah, the safest is the A321.
NFSKing 1 year ago 11
@NFSKing Oh dear. There is an AirBlue A321 crash in Pakistan just hours ago.
jumbo767 1 year ago
@jumbo767 That's always the pilot's fault, since I have some A321 experience.
NFSKing 1 year ago
@NFSKing hardly
guitarplayerforu 1 year ago
@NFSKing Nope! It's the Boeing 777!
SAMCAMJAIK1 10 months ago 5
@SAMCAMJAIK1 Nope, it's either a Boeing 757-222 or 757-223 hijacked by terrorists.
NFSKing 10 months ago
@SAMCAMJAIK1 I THINK IT'S THE A340-600
alexoooe 2 months ago
@alexoooe I looked it up on google, and it is the A340-600.
SAMCAMJAIK1 2 months ago
@SAMCAMJAIK1 I think 757
HenriP44 1 month ago
@NFSKing erm youll find the 777 has the best safety record of any A/C the world has seen
joshuan542 8 months ago
AGrandt 1 year ago
I'm sorry but I wouldn't say the 747 is the safest. There have been 123 incidents, 48 hull losses related to the 747.
The safest (In my opinion) would either be the 717 (With 5 incedents and no hull losses) or the the 777 (With 5 incidents and 1 hull loss)
Someone may argue that the A380 should be up there with no incidents and hull losss related to the aircraft, however I wouldn't count this aircraft yet. It's only been in service 5 minuites so its a bit early to tell.
heinz551 1 year ago
the safest aircraft is the air force one
ToInfinity1 1 year ago
@ToInfinity1 witch is a.... 747, moded the fuck out!!!
brandtaylor93 1 year ago
@ToInfinity1 The Air Force One is a DC-10 as it seems.
NFSKing 1 year ago
@ToInfinity1 it has been reported that air force one had bogus parts on it and the crew didn't have the slightest idea about it.an ntsb report proved it after an incident of a 747.
rockonmario 1 year ago
the 747 has a problem over the attachment of the fuselaje and the wing, they discovred that on an accident of a Quantas boeing 747.
a183r70 2 years ago
zaphr89 is right
the safest aircraft is the airbus a340
so many airlines have it, and rarely any crashes by it
lmfaoatu123 2 years ago 2
@lmfaoatu123 yeah the a340 is super safe
legoryan9 1 year ago
@lmfaoatu123 infact it has has crashed a lot more then 747,777,767,757 etc so stop thinking airbus and go boeing and you will see why =p ok but I am serious about going for boeing

IL-96-300 - Safest. Crashed 0 times. Look for it at YouTube

@JMProductionzzz Yep the best safety record by Russian lol :)

@TonyFirelli
OK You don't know anything about planes. Shut up.
Easy, -JM
JMProductionzzz 1 year ago
@JMProductionzzz I know a quite a lot and that was considered a joke. I'm more of a Space person and I'm gonna work at Roscosmos soon.
TonyFirelli 1 year ago
@JMProductionzzz Il-96 have only few flight hours, so the fact that it have 0 crashes doesnt make it any safer than 767, 757, 777 and many others that have some hull losses, because they have much more flight hours, they fly more.
Pvjinflight 1 year ago
Correction zaphr89, Airbus A340 is not the safest commercial aircraft in the skies to date, All aircraft are safe, If they were not safe the NTSB wouldnt alow them to fly, But if you were to pick a possible safest aircraft it would have to be a mixed bag off aircraft such as the B747-200 and the B737-900 or 800 and the Airbus A380, and how do i know this im a pilot .
beardy369 2 years ago
not the safest sorry
and the intearier pictures you showed are from the Boeing 787
XpvPro1 2 years ago
are you mad the 747 is not the safest aircraft it one of the worst nearly every air disaster involves a 747
some of them are not its fault but they withdrew concorde because of its crash and other things and thats safer
concorde1350mph 2 years ago
The plane can't continue properly with just 1 engine. and the 747 is not the safest.
CallummmLOL 2 years ago
Hell yerh, 747 crashes alot. but maybe becouse there is so many of them.. i dunno lol
federalfsx 2 years ago
it doesn't crash that much o.O
CallummmLOL 2 years ago
The older 747's did.
federalfsx 2 years ago
As of 17 May 2009, the A340 has not had a fatal incident, but there have been five hull-loss accidents;
2000
Singapore Airlines Flight 006, a 747-400 flying from Singapore to Los Angeles via Taipei, crashed into construction equipment on 31 October 2000 while attempting to take off from a closed runway at Taipei's Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. It caught fire and was destroyed, killing 79 passengers and three crew members.
malizlato 2 years ago
no i think nothing is safe cause both company planes have their faults but if i have to choose i will say that beoing is safer because half of boeing airplane crashes were not all fatal. But france and their airplanes are all dangerous as you know france owns airbus. Air france just went down few weeks ago, the air france concord, air france in toronto and then their computerized plane that crashed on landing. plus all those planes were airbuses including others
mandyX2000 2 years ago
you can blame half of those on pilot error... you can't judge an aircraft just on one accident. the one @ toronto should have been a missed approach, but the stupid pilot decided to land anyway
jesuistahmid 2 years ago
i think the airbus a340
111meikle 2 years ago
dont forget 18 march. 1977 to 747s had a colission on the same runway, it was foggy and cloudy.
skylineXpert 3 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@skylineXpert True but I doubt you can blame the 747 for that
cheesemaster1000 1 year ago
i'm afraid the airbus a330 is the safest plane. Only one incident since production and that incident was an emergency landing
MrCars 3 years ago
yeh right i think the boeing a340
111meikle 2 years ago
correction: airbus a340, not boeing :)
zaphr89 2 years ago
how many planes have ever gone down due to complete engine failure? very few if any! and if we go by your theory how about an 225 with 6 engines!
lol anyway it is more likley that some system failure will cause a plane to fall out of the sku such as total hydraulic or electrical failure! therefore the most likley thing to bring an aeroplane out of the sky is a fault made by one of the ground engineers!
