  • This movie freaked me the fuck out.

  • A bizarre work of art...

I was hooked on this the first time I saw it on cable TV!

What a trip! Thanks for posting!

  • @cooliesass it was the same experience for me..... even though i saw it once something like 6 years ago.... always remembered it since.... special story, special storytelling and great musical scenes in betweens

liked it in a strange way....

  • Very good!!!!

  • truly incredible film.

  • Well Dendiol. If you'd ever animated anything before you would know just how impossible that is to do. Especially with the extreme perspectives they give us in the film. It very well could be rotoscoped 2D drawn animation over 3D renders. Which is still considered 3D animation to almost everyone.

So no, they did not just use a ruler.

  • aww, the granny is so sweet

  • One of the creepiest, weirdest and most atmospheric films I've ever had the [mis]pleasure of viewing.

  • loved it.. and the dog was the best part

  • The movie is called The Triplets of Belleville the belleville Rendez-Vous is a song in it.Just sayin.

  • @Deadman1234ful Actually, the film was released in the UK as Belleville Rendez-Vous. Just sayin'.

  • @xRigorMortis OHHH COOL THNX I AWAYS THOUGHT IT WASENT THAT

  • @Deadman1234ful WHEN I TYPE LIKE THIS DOES THE VOICE IN YOUR HEAD SHOUT?!

  • @xRigorMortis My caps lock was broke sorry.Yes buttons can break.

  • Amazing movie

  • I love the absurd calves and quads.

  • amına kodumun entelleri

  • ROMANTIQUE

  • the grans like my gran xo

  • The Grans Just Sooo Adorable

  • I wish my grandma was more like Madame Souza!

  • Tuning fork is used to check the pitch of the spokes when struck to gauge their tension.

  • what?

  • It's a crying shame we don't see this type of animation in the mainstream industry.

The visual language and narrative in this film is truely remarkable and a true breath of fresh air for the creative minds.

On another note, I'm not saying that PIxar ripped off this film per ce but have you noticed that quiet a lot of their recent films have borrowed some elements from this? Character designs in Ratatoullie and UP are quiet similar for example.

  • this was such a great movie it actually shows a lot of textures and simplicities to ourselves

  • loved this film

  • Why can't all films be creative, funny, or interesting?

Belleville Rendez-Vous, Spirited Away (or any Studio Ghibli stuff for that matter), Amelie, Man on the Moon, 10,000 Fingers of Dr.T (should be 5000 fingers, but I saw it twice) to name just a few

  • I love this film...XD

  • this is such a wierd film

    but i like wierd films

    my films are wierd

    you will like them :)

  • Best. Cartoon. Dog. Ever.

  • i'm little bit confuse.. how to adjust the wheel with tune fork ?

but , i love this movie...

  • this is one of my all time fav movies

  • My favourite animation ever. Thanks for sharing.

  • I remember watching this in French class, around 2004. Very creative and unique film.

  • Very quaint indeed. It feels like watching someone else's nightmare...

  • We watched this in French class.

Strangest, most disturbing thing I've ever seen.

  • A strange sad film. At the end when they vanish into the night outside Belleville where are they going?

  • I watche a bit of this in my Italian lesson once (weird since its a french film :P) and I thought it was well good lol my class was really loud then when this came on they were all really quite .....magic :P

  • i saw when i was 9 i was depressed for 3 days

  • i can definitely see how this could freak out a 9 year old kid. but i saw it for the first time very recently

and it didn't really freak me out , it just intrigued me. but, i am 16. lol

  • wow. heavy

  • Saw this in a uni class, it's brilliant, completely bizarre, but brilliant even more amzing considering there is hardly any dialogue throughout the film.

  • Vive la france =D

  • great film watched it and understood the story

  • They got Bruno's behaviour totally accurate, right down to the little eyebrow movements! So dog-like. I loved this story so much.

  • this is such a great movie. breath of fresh air with all the CGI and manga animation thats taken over these days.

  • @MythicDude there is a subtle bit of CGI there!

  • @racethetube Oh yes of course. Thats the way I prefer to see it used. More of compliment and enhance the effect of hand-drawn. Sort of like the Wildebeast stampede in The Lion King.

  • @MythicDude

too right. I love the old animations, and I don't care who knows it! Like a moving drawing, which is what I love about it.

  • @MythicDude so right I´m so lucky, thanks God my grandma it´s just like her.

  • @MythicDude amen!

  • @MythicDude

uhhhhh.....they used plenty of CGI to create this film. Look at the constant perfect proportions of his bike

  • @cheesebart Isn't that known as "using a ruler?"

  • @MythicDude i agree with what yo say but there is still some brilliant animated films coming out every year in 2d and 3d.. just need to know where to look

  • saa la,Iaire juste trop dégeux ce qu'il mange ! :P

  • do somebody know, that where can i find the full version?

  • you can buy; it deserves every penny !

i love this movie! one of the best! the body language is very understandable, so no need for dialogues here! :) (well, there are very few here...)

  • because one leg is shorter than the other

  • the artist drew her like that?

  • *facepalm*

  • coz sumfins rong wit her leg legnth lol
