I've had experience with shaving seasoned Hickory handles, to rehandle axes in the '70's & 80's. I also have a bow saw (Sandvik blade) & the Bahco laplander folding saw (hardwood teeth).
You know you have inspired me to get a hickory handle over the net from a US supplier, and see how both go when used to saw through seasoned hickory & seasoned Aussie hardwood. IMO it will make an interesting comparison.
G'day Joe.
Thanks

Which blade are you using on the bahco, the peg teeth or the raker ?? Which is better for general wood sawing and winter camping ??

Agree with you on the bow saw being efficient and worthwhile...Pruning saws usually cut on the pull stroke, so be aware of that.
