4:36 He says "Moorish style" instead of "Muslim Style" probably since the average person does not know that the word "Moor" or "Moorish" means Muslim and in this day and age you cannot associate the word "Muslim" with beauty or anything positive really or you'll be black balled!!
@mack343434 Hello mack343434. Thanks for your comment. Actually I say “Moorish Revival”, which is an architectural style that was popular with architects in Europe and the Americas in the wake of the Romanticist fascination with all things oriental. The style is also called “Neo Moorish”.
@mack343434 Well at any rate I really do like you're videos and how you show New York. I love New York City & have done extensive research on it but I've never been there. I am absolutely fascinated with this city called New York & am dying to at least visit if not maybe live there one day. It's just something I'd love to experience in my life time even if I don't live there forever. Just wondering ... do you live in NYC?
@mack343434 Hi, Thanks for the nice comment! Since we do most of our videos on either NYC or Paris, I spend part the year in each place. The best of both worlds! :) And yes, you should definitely come to New York, whether for a short or a long visit. There really is no other place in the world like NYC!
@NewYorkHabitat Wow you have the best job in the world!! This is so crazy because & I promise you that I'm telling the truth but Paris is the 2nd city that I would love to visit! Then Madrid & the rest of Spain, London, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Eygpt everywhere really lol but mainly NYC, Paris & the rest of Europe ... can't wait!!!
How could you forget the most famous yeshiva in America located NYC?the Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem on 145 East Broadway. This is the only building left on the block. Its Rabbi,Rabbi Moshe Feinstein was considered the greatest sage of his period. Its students became famous businessman, lawyers and professionals. It is still intact and runs a full school program and seminary.
We are sorry we forgot the Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem, but we are glad you gave all the info about in in your comment.
There are so many things to do / see in New York that we cannot cover everything. Fortunately, we often get comments like yours which actually complete our videos.
@masterlee123 thanks for your comment. Not sure what you’re referring to, but it’s true we’re always limited in what we can capture in our videos. We’re always open to viewer suggestions!
@soupy2 Hello soupy2. We don’t have any furnished apartment rentals in the Bronx, so we haven’t filmed in that particular neighborhood. However, I live in Harlem and find it to be a great neighborhood. Almost on a monthly basis, new restaurants, bars, grocery stores, wine shops, etc. are opening up in Harlem….
@soupy2 ... We actually shot a multi-episode series on Harlem a couple years ago. Feel free to check them out on our YouTube Channel. If you’re ever in Harlem, check out two of my favorite restaurants, The Red Rooster and Chez Lucienne, at 125th St and Lenox. There’s also a great new bar/restaurant that’s just opened, the Harlem Tavern.
@onyxie1694 This is indeed a very good question and a difficult one to answer as the differences in cost of living in Manhattan is getting less and less pronounced. With the rehabilitation of some neighborhoods over the last couple of years and the desire of the city to transform any vacant areas into living areas (one of the last ones has been the West Side and the Meatpacking area with the arrival of the Highline project) the cost of living is becoming more uniform. ( more below)
@onyxie1694 ... There are still some neighborhoods that we can say are more expensive than others, mainly because of the cost of real estate, like the Upper East Side, Gramercy area, West Village, etc… The cost of food, transportation and daily expenses are not necessarily very different.
That said, there is a bigger difference in the cost of living when you leave Manhattan and reside in Brooklyn, Queens or Staten Island. Transportation is very often convenient to and from Manhattan.
@LowerEastSideTours Thank you for your comment, and for sharing a link with us too! We like it a lot when people give additional info in the comments of our travel guide videos ;)
@indieFilmFanatic91 Thank you for your suggestion! It is amazing how much we can film in New York, there is always something we can include that we did not think of or have time to do yet. Filming the alphabet streets is a great idea, we will try to do this in the future :)
