  • I know this is an old video, but I just wanted to think you for this! I'm about to try making baby food for my son for the first time, and this definately helped!

  • wher did you get the baby food pots>

  • Thanks for the video. I am going to start my son on solids in another week.

  • Did you try doing the beans from Ham and beans. Just make up a pot of ham and beans and puree him some from that. Turns out much better.

  • @mattiehatter106 I will for sure have to try that for baby #2

  • I Luv ur videos so much...so how old was ur baby when u started him on the baby food...my little one is barely going to turn 6 months on the 3rd of July and im for sure going to make his food...im just not sure which ones r safe for him at his age...im for sure going to ask the dr when i take him on the 5thof july...

  • @mysteryousmtz He was 5 1/2 months old. I think yuo can start with any fruit of veggie... just make sure that you only introduce one new food at a time.

  • Do you take the skin off the plums before putting them into the food processor. I am learning how to make baby food after discovering my son has many food allergies. He is doing so much better now that I am making his food versus eating store bought baby food in a jar. Also, I have a Ninja food processor and LOVE it!

  • @teachinbr I did... I forgot to show that. And yeah if your son has allergies, this is probably the best thing you can do. Good luck !

  • I work at a daycare so I save the baby food jars and just can them for a longer shelf life and instead of water I use breast milk... but I absolutely love these recipes and will definitely use them!

  • @WAaron66 That's a great idea to use the baby food jars !!! I am so glad I could help with some recipes for you !

  • Hi, great videos! Do you drain the apples after cooking them in the oven? Also, how intimidated where you when you first started making baby food? My little one is only 2 months old and I'm researching making baby food, it's a bit intimidating. :)

  • @OwenCS2011 I don't drain them. I find when they are out of the oven they soak in the extra juices and puree super super nicely. I don't think I was that intimidated at all. Just try it out and watch some videos. It's so much fun once you start !!

  • nice food proccessor!!!

  • @misaki52008 Thanks :)

  • and how do you defrost them? just take a cube for one feeding?

  • @bebeluvv He takes 2 cubes per feeding and you just defrost it in the microwave for like 40 seconds :)

  • What is your menu for Porter? Are you a vegeterian?

  • @AngelaBo1 Nope, we are meat eaters :)

  • How often do you make baby food and do you give Porter any "store" baby food at all?

  • @rgwski1 I make that much food about once a month. It takes about 2 - 3 hours. And he doesn't get any store food besides gerber puffs and finger snacks.

  • Pinto bean need salt! I would definitely cook with some ham next time :o)

  • @TinaDeanette Thanks for the tip !

  • Refried beans are usually loaded with salt so they taste better.

When I make mine I throw them in a skillet with some unsalted butter and cook them again after pureeing (hence the refried part, lol) Pureeing them makes them kinda frothy so cooking them again releases that air and makes them more dense. To freeze, u can roll into small balls and smoosh into mini patties and freeze on a cookie sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag when frozen. I also do this when I cook my lentils. HTH! :)

  • @BoutiqueMomma Thank you so much for the tip with the beans. And what a great way to freeze them !!

  • I bake my sweet potatoes too and I found the little steamer bag of butter nut squash at Walmart the I love! Also I use the steamer bags of peas too make life easier. I spent several hours today making baby food as well. How are you planning to make meats and at what age did you start?

  • @mrstbailey777 Good idea on the steamer bag of squash... makes things go a bit easier and quicker. I have made a few meat meals but he just doesn't like those purees. He will eat chicken finger food so we just do it that way.

  • You don't have to add water to apples when they are steamed either. I pretty much steam everything I make. It's much faster than baking although I know baking is better as far as nutrition goes. Also, if you add a little lemon juice to banana it will keep them from turning brown. :)

  • @carlynicoleelliotte Thanks for the tip on steaming apples. It's a good idea !

  • What are your thoughts on giving baby meat? Its been reccommended here now to start giving from 6mo, but nobody else I know has done it yet. When will you start giving it to Porter?

  • @TheKiwiMummy Porter doesn't really like the meat when I puree it in. it's too dry for him. however he will eat chicken finger food, so we just give him meat that way.

  • wow looks super fun! where did you get the baby cubes? im putting this on my to do list :)

  • @BaileyandPypersmom I got them on amazon. Just search for "baby cubes"

  • With the squash, i was just wondering- would scooping it out with a large spoon work a little better? There would be lesss wastage as you would be scraping the inside of the skin :)

I did all this with Kaiden- it used to take an ENTIRE DAY to do the entire process from start (peeling) to finish (dishes)!!! But the batches we made lasted at least a month or so so we didnt have to do it too often... I wish i had started earlier with K and will be with baby girl when shes here :)

  • @AussieMummySince07 Yeah that probably works well too ! And it only took me about 2 hours to do all of the food you see... however I move super quick and use the dishwasher :)

  • u can also for flavor... add cooked ham to them, most people cook them with a ham hock but for Porter u dont want the fat that is on those , but ham makes it taste better. still most babys dont like beans so he may not like it no matter what. but u can try the ham!...and yeah I add salt to mine as well but u can also get stuff that tastes like salt thats not its calle "no salt" i think or eaven sea salt its better.

  • @thebrave01 That's a good idea with the ham... and a way to get more meat into his diet ! Thanks for the tip !

  • refried beans usually taste better with salt.. alot of salt to give it a better flavor, but I dont know how you would feel giving porter a bunch of salt in his refried beans ! lol

  • @mszbrwneyes Yeah probably don't want to give him too much salt. I may have to skip making those until he is a bit older then. Thanks for the tip

  • Where can you get those little containers?

  • @Dare2Dream0910 I got them on amazon. They are called "Baby Cubes"

  • I like the assortment/ideas you gave. Please update and let us know how Porter likes them!!!

  • @kimberlydawn8 I will do that for sure !

  • Do you put the cubes in microwave when you make Porter a meal?

  • @sasha46341 Yep, usually 40 seconds for two cubes and it is defrosted. Super easy

  • I found that if you bake the sweet potatoes they are more moist.

  • @imissjerry87 I do bake them sometimes. Thanks for the tip :)

  • @InformationMommy You're welcome. :D

  • How do you transport solids to daycare? Do you thaw them in advance at home?

  • @NaturalMama85 I put the frozen ice cubes in a really small tupperware like container in the fridge overnight and they are usually mostly thawed by morning and we take them in that way.

  • Great vlogs reaaly helpful

  • @elesha76 You are so welcome !

  • I wouldn't think banana pumpkin would taste very good. I just recently started making my son's baby food.

  • @PrettyLittleLiar98 It is really good actually !! Don't you love making baby food !
