  • sounds like Paul & Marvin shoulda gotten together for at least something. This is still better than anything you can find on so called radio now

  • hij is gewoon de beste wat kan ik zeggen

    rest in peace marvin gaye

  • The best version of this song, hands down.

  • is it weird that i can't stop hitting the repeat button.

  • I love the Beatles...always have...but this cover and James Brown cover of "Something"....I just have no words. This cover ALWAYS bring tears to my eyes. I just wish I was old enough to experience him while he was living. May your soul rest in peace Marvin

  • "too much soul" is like saying there "too much black" in the world.

WE INVENTED PAIN PAIN IS DARK AND THE SOUL IS WITHIN.

So what do you mean to much soul sir or ma'am?

    It's ok, we'll wait....

  • The best cover but too much "soul" or perhaps his voice is too rich for the pain ridden simplicity that is required by the song and so wonderfully provided by Paul.

  • 0:12 Hits you hard!!

  • search bolder gazet van antwerpen

  • marvin really takes this song to another level

  • This is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Please upload it by David Ruffin. Never heard it but i have heard about it.

  • I like The Temptation`s version better with David Ruffin leading.

  • Not a huge fan of this version, I really like the original. I thought the original caught the mood and feelings of the day. This version's not bad but the original was a lot better to me.

  • this knocked me out when i first heard it

  • Marvin did yesterday wow it make me cry the pain how he sing the song make u feel that it ok to be yourself & let out how u feeling at that moment peace.

  • beautiful.. thank you for sharing it.

  • this iz & always will B one of my fav,,,,,i mean it's MARVIN

  • First time I've ever seen 0 dislikes. Even the most hateful of haters must bow their heads in respect.

  • gosh cant stop listening this.

  • Well first off, YESTERDAY was written by Paul McCartney and sung SOLEY by him, the other three wern't involved in the recording, but I do AGREE with your assestment that Marvin's version was more meaningful and soulful. Even Paul LOVED this version.

But no matter who sings or records this-Paul get's the royalty checks EVERYTIME it played on the radio or sung by another artist!

    Peace-

    Donna~

  • @donnamariemoreno27 True. Paul wrote (and sung) a marvelous song and Marvin did a great cover. Thanks for writing that. :)

  • @donnamariemoreno27 ....doesn't MJ's estate get all of theBeatles/Paul's publishing royalties ? I'm just sayin'. . .

  • @laloyyoli1 The Beatle songs were from Northern Songs publishing which began in 1963. The only songs he doesn't own are the few that were published before; "Love Me Do", "P.S. I Love You", "Please, Please Me" and "Ask Me Why." So, he owns almost all of the 'Lennon & McCartney" songs. He only gets 50% of the royalties. Paul and Yoko get the other 50%. Apparently, he did not own any of George's songs because his publishing contract with Northern Songs expired in 1968.

  • @donnamariemoreno27 our Marvin does it even betta! )

  • @donnamariemoreno27 1000 times better than paul too

  • @donnamariemoreno27 paul gets the check. hes alive, marvin gets the respect, so its like hes alive.

  • @abyss1ner

Yes he does-RIP Marvin LOVE & MISS ya!!!

  • This version has far more depth and emotion to it than the original. I find the original by John lennon to be essentially 2 dimensional and this one to be effectively a three dimensional version of the song by a soulfull person who carries the weight of the world in his voice.

  • Marvin went through two divorces at the same time so love songs and song of sorrow caused by love is his thing even if he is covering. His voice is excellent in all respect and unique. He sings from his heart. he feels his songs. Truly the Prince of Motown

  • I`m loving it!! Marvin is the man.

  • Bless you sweet Marvin x

  • Voice of an angel!

  • I've never heard this version, but my Lord, I'm feeling this! Rewind...

  • Wow....

This is my first time hearing Marvin sing this song and I'm trying to think of something clever to type but can't - I'm too emotional to think clearly. This is mind blowing. Marvin was the absolute best.

  • @Shaolin325 you r sooo rite!

  • I love Marvin...but Donny Hathaway tho?????? His emotion made you feel that. Shout out to Marvin's cover..pretty decent.

  • @ProtaJ No one will argue that Donny's voice is immaculate (and I do like his version too). However, I'm more about the rawer quality, so I'm going with Marvin but I dig your opinion and thanks.

  • @timmy841212 Im more about emotion, which is why i went with Donny. I need to FEEL it.....thank you.

  • @ProtaJ Hahaha that's why I love his versions of "Giving Up", "A Song for You" and "For All We Know". ;)

  • @timmy841212 I like the strings in this version too...

  • @ProtaJ I do too. The strings take me somewhere else. Gotta love the Detroit Symphony (who played just as much a part in Motown's music as the Funk Brothers and its roster of artists did).

  • There are few musicians where i can honestly say i like everything they make, Marvin Gaye is one of those people. This song is amazing!

  • I also agree. I would listen to my father playing Marvin growing up and LOVE his voice, but I'm still more partial to the Beatles... maybe cuz its more commercial and catchy, but Marvin is right up there! I love both versions!

  • @porcelynn00 I understand. I love both versions too. :)

  • one of the best to ever make it..you still hold that crown..rest in peace Marvin..

  • Ethereal

  • When they used this in Marvin's American Master documentary it gave me goosebumps.

  • This song brings me tears.

  • to me nothing is better than the original but this is right up there with it.

  • @uzn88 I agree. I love the original but yeah it's right up there. :) Thanks for commenting.

  • Love me some Marvin & this version is Excellent second only to Donnie Hathaway's version. They both are my favorite artists of all time. RIP troubled genius's !!

  • This can make you cry! I am not into remakes, but thank God this was done!!!

  • @DivingHawk1 I agree! This sounds better than The Beatles version to me!!!!

  • i was in love with Florence Ballard's version then i heard this one and it takes the cake

  • Marvelous Marivin Gaye !!!
