  • Brings back great memories of my time in the merchant navy- beautiful sea!

  • I would love to be there

  • Deadliest catch stupid shit!!! this is more! soo fuck off!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It was taken in the entrance of the harbor of the westmann islands (Vestmannaeyjar) a small island of the south coast of iceland.

  • Any information out there on who shot this footage?

  • The seagulls were like " yeeaah..wohooo look at that big mother fucker!"

  • luv this video. Ive been at sea in smaller ships facing weathers similar to this

The crews would really enjoy the sail..

  • Is the camera stalking that ship?

  • It's winter. How come the ships aren't covered with ice? I read about ice covered ships during WWII.

  • Liars! It has one cut xD

  • 1:34 holly shit

  • Imagine how the Vikings did that kind of sea with their wooden nutshells .. o_0

  • @dude770725 Viking Drakkars were designed for shallow waters. The are known to have reached iceland and even america following coastlines and calm seas.

  • @dude770725 maybe the seas weren't as pissed back then, lol

  • @dude770725

They didn't if left with any choice:p

  • This is fine aslong as you're easy on the throttle! Best way to take wawes is from the back, but its not that pleasent.

Takiing those wawes broadside wont capsize the boat, boats are made not to capsize during normal conditions.

  • its sailing very close to the rocks

  • Such a painfully slow progress forward. Love the background music.

  • no good to hitch hike there LOL

  • Try sitting on the heads to take a dump in this shizzle

  • Next time you open a sardine can, think about these guys, and how they make their living (or dying)!

  • absolutely incredible. Most stunning footage I've seen of these ships.

What a hell of a way to make a living.

My utmost respect for this Captain and these men.

    Real men.

    as Joseph Conrad would write

    "worthy of our undying respect."

    -Bill in Canada

  • holy shit! is that normal?

  • @FlourishDNA Hehe, dude that is normal in sum seas.. when the wind catches. And especlly if its Winterseason

  • Respect !

  • i was just waiting for the perfect wave

  • o i use to sleep stand,in on me feet LOL not on her u wouldn,t LOL

  • yea chas,in chickens around the galley i,d say LOL and i though she didn,t roll LOL

  • --- and to think that this week I was moaning in the store that fish is expensive --- oops.

  • Does anyone have any sea sick pills?

  • @palonejr koffinátín

that is sea sick/car sick pills

    check the pharmace near you

  • They better hope their engins dont give out.

  • This is what sperates the men from boys. You ahve to renain calm and keep a steady hand at the helm and throttle.

  • sounds like somebody is cooking in the kitchen

  • Man, that looked like you guys were going to the island of King Kong or Godzilla in a storm! You guys are FEARLESS!!!!!!!!!!

  • grat work

  • ole skip has got some brass

  • heck, anyone ''abandoning ship'' would be surely risking life? to forsake a tough sturdy fishing vessel for a liferaft unless the boat was actively disappearing from under them would make no sense-at least in the fishing boat they'd have a kettle, some food, and light, and a bed, even if it was rocking around. They would probably just get on with it best they could!

  • @Oakleaf700 Abandoning ship really would be suicide in weather like this, especially close to cliffs; the life raft would be ripped to shreds.

  • Phonominal camera work.

  • This is one of the things I fear the most... but I hope to do it someday

  • the sea would be much brownwer if I was on board

  • oh sure, just drive right through the waves idiot. turn the fucking boat for god's sake!

  • @504Anon straight on is the best way to hit a wave, nub

  • @imlost19 duude thats the best way to sail in these weather, if it hit the ship from the side it would just roll around and sink.... so who is the noob?

  • @DonLollio huh? Thats exactly what I was saying. Hit the wave straight on, not from the side... we are saying the same thing lol

  • @imlost19 .....shhh.... i think i hit the wrong button when i replied lol XD

  • @DonLollio haha well at least we agree. Never hit the wave from the side like the original noob was saying. Always dead on. :D

  • @imlost19 thats the worst way when you split a wave the resisting force is somewhat even causing deep penetration into the next bounding wave . . thats not a good thing . . it will almost stop your forward motion . . wasting gas and time

  • @mucbeanz Better than hitting broadside. Then you'd capsize.

  • do you got your seat belt on lol

  • I guess i am fishermen in that kind of boat in norway and iceland and when it is a wheater like this your head touch the roof twice! So i dont think that any cameramen is able to filme it like deadliest catch!

  • How do you think trawler catamarans would fair in your seas in weather like this?

  • How come this person can film another ship in rough seas, the boat he's on is all over the place and still takes a good video ?

Most people on dry land with a calm day couldn't get anywhere near this quality.

    SUPERB VIDEO 10 / 10

  • Next time I eat fish I'll pause for a moment... and think of the hardship that some of these sailors endure to catch our lunch! Then I'll grab a fillet.. and enjoy it with a dollop of tartare sauce and some chips. So tasty!

  • These Men, they've got balls...

  • love that capt...i want him

  • Yeah, the crew is getting ready to unload the catch because they will soon enter the harbour at Westman Islands.

  • @brengf

I think the deadliest catch rather needs a new setting...this is definetly deadlier

  • Awesome vid!!

  • Brilliant footage. No need to cut it. Mesmerizing.

  • epic!

  • Beautiful...Plain beautiful...I pay deep respect to all sailors worldwide..

  • Who wnts to be a trawller man? I have been off the Coast of Ireland in a Gale force 12 but the ship was 10 times biger than the fishing boat and I was say looking for clean underwear

  • Terrific documentary film. I loved not only the fantastic images but also listen to the sound of the waves and the wind. Thank you very much for sharing.

  • Hairy ocean digital drama so in your face it makes you feel dizzy when the bow takes the rollers, and so steady for being shot on a moving ship, quite remarkable an incredible record and what a great wee ship 1622 and it's on the ball helmsman and crew . Mind you I think i could have handled that stuff no trouble in my 5.80 FI Glass and 115 HP Merc ha ha!

  • At a guess, they're either standing by the red boat ,to help if he gets into trouble,or they are unfamiliar with the harbour entrance, and are going to follow the red boat in. definately storm force probably hurricane force wind 74 kts plus

  • @ninjapadraig

The cameraman is on board ship same sise the red and from same harbour. She is just vaiting so the cam man san take these pics. This is often like this in Vestmannaeyjar, the wether.

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO.

  • ... y despues dicen que el pescado es caro ...

  • You definitely need extra underwear for this boat ride

  • Horrible weather .. brave men!

  • OMG. This makes me remember when I was myself in a storm like this. Our ship was a huge ferry but the 30 meter high waves and 180 kilometer per hours wind let it dance like this litle fishing trawler. The only thing one could do was to lie in the bed and hold tight with both hands.

  • Can anyone tell what the crew abord the boat are doing under weather conditions like this? Great video btw :D

  • Yes..you go inside to the front of the boat..and when the boat drops down you jump,,,so you free fall for 2 sec

  • @remainer93 holding on

  • @remainer93 They would all be up in the wheelhouse with the skipper, some looking out for rogue waves, others praying. :-)

  • @remainer93 playing pool, what else ?!?!

  • @remainer93

Going home. The weather is often like this in Iceland.

    Trawlerma.

  • @remainer93 Playing snooker!lol

  • @remainer93 To be honest.. if there not working, there sleeping :) or there filming the boat thats filming this :) and i'm sure if theres a greenhorn on the boat hes pukeing his guts out and wondeing if he wants to do this for a career

  • @remainer93

Sleeping, Eating, watching TV or playing video games ;)

  • @remainer93 Coming home with fish sir. That's what fishermen do. Sometimes they wehter gets there before they get home. and then they deal with it. Period. Amen. Amateurs freak out and abandon ship, and usually die, proffessional seamen deal with it, and apply seamanship at all times.

  • @remainer93 Playing chess.

  • @remainer93 holding on for dear life

  • @remainer93

yes, a seasoned sailor Either waiting for chow, finishing his Rounds of the ship or on watch in the engineering control center or in the pilot house. New guy - shitting bricks, puking his guts out.

Sailed from the bering to the florida keys

  • @remainer93 OOW and master on the bridge, enginner down looking after his engines, lots of alarms going off as tank levels go crazy, off duty crew alseep or at least in their cabins, on duty crew securing the deck and accomidation, and then watching tv cos theres fuck all else you can do.

  • @remainer93 yer, with one hand there looking after there balls, with the outher, its to stop them flying around the ship HA :)

  • Heading for port with their catch.

  • @remainer93 pray to the god......

  • Great video. Maybe Deadliest Catch needs another cameraman?

  • @brengf ~ Maybe that was Captain Phil Harris at the helm...

  • AWESOME !!!

  • One wonders how many SECONDS you'd last in that wooder...

  • this is storm!!!

  • this actually isnt as bad as it can get in winter time in the icelandic sea

  • I would be throwing up all over the place if I were on that boat!

  • How the hell did the cameraman stay so steady??

  • @michaeljohnaubrey he might be so used to it that he can compensate :P ... plus it might look worst than it feels being in that boat.

  • Fishing Vessels are tough ships for their size.

  • very cool video

  • HOLY SHIT

  • Great video! Awesome!

  • if the motor goes, your fucked...unless you can fix it fast enough

  • this has got to be the most well-driven ship i've ever seen, the cpt. knows how to hit the waves

  • Thanks for adding this. With nearly 3 million hits (!) on the first one, there's obviously an appetite for this. I love it. Give us more. And how about some info on the vessels involved?

  • Thanks for adding this. With nearly 3 million (!) hits on the first one, there's obviously a huge fascination for your vids. Keep it up. I'd love to get some info on the vessels involved.

  • respect! :0

  • than the ship goes were the waves cary it

  • @axs12345 what if it ends up sideways in the trough ? Wouldnt it capsize possibly ? I dont know , and I wouldnt want to find out .

  • what happens if both motors stall out ?

  • jump in the life raft and hope for the best

  • @yourshitjusthitmyfan then it would drift into a rock and punch a hole on the boat wich would make it fill up with water and eventually sink. That is the most common reason for ships going down in iceland, but the weather can get much worse than this thoug this is kind of rough :)

  • @thorhildurol just say it was way out to sea and far away from land or icebergs. . . . .then what ? ? ? would the swell roll it over . . . ? ? ? ??

  • @yourshitjusthitmyfan it would´nt nessesarily have to roll over unless there was a leak or something, otherwise it would just travel with the waves. But if the motors were to die out in open sea and crew members could´nt make them run again they would have to get help from land. or other ships nearby would help by putting a wire to the ship and drag it to land. it all depends on circumstances though :) thinking about becoming a fisherman in iceland?

  • eine Seefahrt,die ist lustig

    eine Seefahrt,die ist schön;-)

    cooles vid,5 sterne!!!

  • I feel sea sick just watching it. How does the camera filming it stay so still?

  • maybe the camera is on a bigger ship. howeer i guess it, i don't know it for sure

  • This is a wonderful video !!!!!! Amazing.
