  • No 64-bit mean how many bits you computers prosseser can use at once but some computers use bits in channels like how many bits can be transferd per hert.

  • Linux has 64bit now, this video is a time machine into the past. XD

  • You made technical shit funny! Great job!

  • next time when you do video try doing it sober

  • can someone tell me if this pc can run 64 bits os :hp dc 7700p convertible minitower .intel core 2 duo 2.13 ghz 1066 fsb

  • It really is confusing you are blubbering about

  • @NoJohnDoe You can kind of see I was more amateur then, and the cam really doesn't help. Never buy cheap camcorders...

I'll probably make a more clearer version, and with a WAY better voice strength too.

  • My 64-bit computer has 4 TB of RAM.

  • 8:33 "And you can also rate how shity this video is... I won't care." xD

  • I got DELL XPS 2.4Ghz with 4 GB of RAM Quad CORE 600 processor 32bits.OS. I dont see any different. I dont see any lagging of anykind.. so what is the fuss all about?

  • I have an AMD Athlon64 X2 Dualcore Processor running at 2.6Ghz and 3 Gb of ram and 360Gb HDD with a 32-bit operating system. What can I do to switch from 32 -to-64?

  • @xXfirewood149Xx you have to reinstall a 64bit OS but i wouldn't recommend you to go 64bit if you are not planing to go for more than 4 gigs of ram, a 32bit SO is lighter to run than a 64bit but is less efficient when runing heavy software like games

  • @mrjahir10 I am running 64-bit now... Its not bad and I really like it more cause it does play games and other things really smoothly or at least more noticablly. It is one of the best computer decisions I have made ever and I did it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

  • a pointer variable in c/c++ is of 8 bytes on a 64 bit Os while its 4 bytes on a 32 bit OS

  • i wan to upgrade my 32bit window vista to window 7 professional what hardware will i have to change to go from 32 bit to 64 bit ???

  • @ixy1987 if you have dual core processor (two cores or more) then you have a 64 bit capable cpu

  • 64bits is more better.... oviousli... perdon por mi ingles naboss...ah re que abla mas los 2 idiomas.. ajja

  • what if i have 64bit processor but i only gt 3gb ram? is 64bit still better?

  • i have a 32 bit is there anyway to upgrade to 64 bit

  • @Farbeyondwasted54 yeah but be sure your computer has compatible drivers and prossecer.

  • THIS IS BULLSHIT.. EVEN THIS DUDE DOESNT KNOW HOW IT WORKS..... i want to know how it really works.. like inside the damn computer, like coding and everyhitng.. GOD I FEEL NOOBIFIED!

  • this answered my question.Thanks

  • Idiot hack.

  • i installed ubuntu 32bt on hp with 64bt amd for my friend cause i had minor complications with 64 bt software but the 32 bt runs perfect and i think hell be able to use it easier he went into best buy by himself with no prior knowledge of pcs and told them he wanted the best pc they had to offer not realizing that he would never need that much power nevertheless he constanly got viruses and now with ubuntu its happy computing good video

  • Haha you got the downs?

  • Please help me. -My friend gave me his 64 bit windows vista enterprise on my usual vista 32 bit and now my hd video drivers are not working on my new 64 bit computer what do I do are there 64 bit alternatives?

  • do you have a video card?

  • i fixed it.

  • I have an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ (2.00 ghz) and 4 gigs of DDR2 ram. And a shitty onboard graphics card. Should i install 64-bit?

  • You might want to stick a normal videocard in there for better hardware acceleration, or swap your CPU with a 4400 or 5000+.

then your good to go with Vista or 7 x64

  • Well.. My motherboard is kinda bad... I have an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro for AGPx8. It has 256mb ram. Is that okay?

And how would i swap my my CPU?

I mean... I can't use every single CPU out there...

  • lucky for you, I have a AM2 CPU as well. you can fit every Athlon 64 X2 in there, if it supports AM2+ socket CPU's you can fit ANY of the AMD CPU's from 2006- all AM3 CPU's

    (I have a 5000+ brisbane @ 2.6 but im getting Athlon II 250 3.1Ghz)

as far as your GPU goes.. Id say get a ATI radeon HD 3850, cheap card, good performance. 9600 sux balls

  • @fusion952 265mb is a decent amount. do you use it for gaming?

  • YOU FUCKING ROCK!!!

  • I have amd phenom x4 9550 2,2ghz,Ati radeon hd 3850,And 4gb ram ,but my pc came with windows vista 32bit,im thinking of upgrading to windows 7,but what bits?,does 32bit applications slow windows 64bit down?

  • Not really, no. On the other side, be warned that 16-bit apps won't work anymore, unless you get something like DosBox, or Windows XP mode for 7.

  • i dont have any 16bits apps

  • i got a AMD 64 bits and istalled windows XP 32 bits. i must to installa a windows xp 64 bits To take advantage of the CPU?

  • no i did the same thing i dont believe it makes a difference

  • The Maxium ram supported by a 64bit OS is in theary, 17.2 billion gigabytes, 16.8 million terabytes, or 16 exabytes of RAM. But Saddly some CPUs and Windows Operating System put limits on these numbers. For example AMD64 CPUs only support 52bits of memory. And windows Desktop OS are limited much lower my suftware: Vista; Basic:8GB Home:16GB And Business,Ultimate:128GB

  • It's still way too much, hence why they limit it. Cheaper to make, but they say 64-bit, because it is closer than 32-bit...and still. Wasn't it 48-bit?

  • THX,and greate video!

  • i bought a new laptop a couple of days ago with 4gb of ram. during the setup it asked if i wanted to use 64bit or 32bit. since the laptop i had before it ran 32bit i chose that, only to find out later that i should of chose 64bit. how do i change it to 64bit and do i have to reset anything. thanks for any help.

  • You'll need to reinstall your OS again. I don't know if your manufacturer keeps the 64-bit copy in there though.

  • @lhuser

one question..why my OS can use only ~3gb RAM out of the 4 Gb available on a 32 bit OS but the same machine ,the OS can use all 4Gb in case of a 64 bit OS.if memory mapped Io was the answer than how come the space ain't reserved in case of 64 bit OS's ?

  • @bulllsize From what I understood from your question, for a 32-bit to use 4GB, you'll need Vista SP1 or higher ( I don't know about XP SP3). It's called Physical Address Extention. AFAIK, 64-bit OSes has the ability to use more resources, therefore, they can take advantage of the 4GB.

  • i have a question. When i bought my hp laptop a year ago it had a AMD 64x Dual Core Processor TK-57 but why was my os a 32bit Os? Today i got my 64bit from the pirate bay and it seems way faster and it actually took my 3rd gig of ram and is putting it to use

  • It's way faster because it's also not including HP's finest bloatware as well.

Reason it came with a 32-bit OS is because it'd be better and cheaper to ship it with that since it doesn't have 4GB or more.

  • GREAT VID!!!!!

  • Better Encryption!!

  • Yes, that too, but it's mostly a OS type of bit level I am talking. Encryption...well, there's 128-bit and 256-bit as well.

    But you're right.

  • Does 64Bit Gives Some kind of better performance in games..??if no then what does the 64Bit do and what does it means..??

  • The 64-bit envionement allows it to allocate more resources and address more information at one time. although, most CPUs aren't full 64-bit (48-bit) due to constraints, that is still a small increase in info flow at one cycle.

Higher performance? Well, not much, but it's there.

  • Does switching to 64 bit affect keyboard and mouse? Which work on a 32 bit system.

  • No, these are universal. They will work on an 8-bit machine like a 128-bit.

  • thks, that saves some money when buying new computer. :D

  • my device manager says I have two pentium 4 CPU`s 2.80GHz does that mean its a Duo? Also dell told me the max amount of ram I can have is 2GB so as thats what I have got I am maxed out, is there any way at all I can install more RAM? I heard that you can install RAM to a PCi slot? & as my Dell has at least 1 mabey 2 empty slots can i use these? & if so how can I be ram maxed out? i`m confused! help anyone?

  • Alright, the "Two" P4s is actually the processor and the other, the hyper-threading technology. It can handle 2 threads at once in one core.

Usually, these normally max out at 2 GB...you can't have anymore.

As for RAM in PCI slots, yes, it's possible, but it's not going to be in the system's RAM. It's a PCI card that will use the RAM as a hard drive with a battery and A/C power to have a fast loading system. Look for Gigabyte's iRAM. Expensive stuff too.

  • Hi I would love to have more than 8gb of ram on my vista 64 quad core. I heard you can connect 2 or more machines (computers) in order to do that. But I have no idea how to do it. If you are wondering why I need so much ram, I use music software that requires a huge amount of ram when you load many differrent plugins in it.

  • Well, AFAIK, It's not possible. See, a machine cna handle up to X ammount of RAM. If you have around 700 to waste, you can buy these 16GB kits (4x4GB) if your board supports it. Or, you can up your Pagefile in Windows.

  • ye iv just upgraded to 64bit. im now gunna upgrade cpu to AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition!!!!!

  • Im just waiting for the 128-Bit Systems to come out.

Man, microsoft will fuck them up bad.

Probably release Windows 8 16Bit, knowing how idiotic they are.

  • You might be a retired man, and then they'll come out. Very unlikely for now buddy.

  • ok i got one more question. When they say 64bit windows has compatability issues what kind of compatability issues are they talking about?

  • Mostly drivers. 32-bit drivers won't work in a 64-bit environement. Also, all 16-bit programs, gone. A few 32-bit programs might not work due to a version mismatch or it is made only for 32-bit systems. Most of them have a 64-bit version.

  • this guy is mad foxconn suck ass my mate is running exactly wat he says on 64bit its shit

my celeron d 440 2.00ghz runs better than his both 64 bit

  • Intel® Core2Duo E8600 3.33Ghz/1333FSB/6Mb Cache, 4Gb DDR3 RAM, 500Gb HDD 32Mb Cache, Geforce 9600GT 512Mb, DVD+/-RW, Card Reader, 5.1 audio, LAN, 500W is it 32 or 64 bit?

  • Yes, it is.

All new CPUs and systems available on the market, other than used ones, as they may vary, are 64-bit.

  • I have an Intel Celeron M 540. Will it run 64-bit?

In CPUZ application, under instructions it says "EM64T" does that mean it's 64-bit?

I am running 32-bit Vista at the moment but want to change it to 64. Any help?

    Thanks,

    Jay Jay

  • Yup, that's a 64-bit CPU

  • can 64 bit run java without issues im buying a laptop with 64 bit windows and i heard 64bit has compadability issues

  • Java runs on 64-bit no problems.

  • good to know =)

  • does 64 bit support intel q6600?

  • if it's a 64-bit CPU,, yes and yours is for sure.

  • does 64 bit os use more memory then 32 bit i don't know a lot of computer stuff but just wanted to know because i'm buying a new laptop and they gave me the option so???

  • don't worry too much about memory (i assume youre talking about RAM). RAM is now a lot less expensive than it once was and getting 64 bit operating systems costs the same as 32 bit. so if you are getting a 64 bit OS and get the most RAM that you can afford. mine is now retail price $899 Canadian and includes bluetooth, webcam, microphones wireless LAN and hasn't crashed once in the past year :D.

  • i have sony vaio vgn-cr21/z

  • That is the model of your PC, I guess. For the processor, right-click 'My Computer' and go to Properties, then find the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager, then locate the line 'Processors' and expand it. Also if you bought the computer assembled, there should probably be a little square Intel/AMD sticker on the front of your tower, saying just enough for lhuser to answer your question. I hope I didn't miss anything, and that this would help you :)

  • can i ask one q dear if u dont mind how can i know my system is suopport 64 bit. this tim i have 32 bit opreating system

  • All you need to tell me is what processor you have.

  • man, I just got the DV5T from Hp. I was really shaky on getting the 64-bit os until I saw this vid. Thanks man...

  • can someone plz plz plz tell me how i can check my bit on my computer!!!!!!!!!i really want to know plz.i need to download stuff plz plz reply!!!!anyone

  • go to control panel then click system icon..

  • wiat a sec i go to control panel then it comes up with pick a category and could u tell me step by step cause i cant even see system icon

  • i got it its alright thx !!!!

but can some1 tell me plz plz how to change it to 64 bit i saw it on youtube but i lost it and i got to change ma computer to 64 bit !!!!

  • install a 64 bit OS.

  • Hello lhuser; i have 2 questions.

If you use emulators to play super nintendo games (snes9x), d'you know if that would work with a 64 bit vista system?

Also you mentioned something about using "virtual pc" to run old games. Can you elaborate on that?

  • Tese emulators are known to work, as they are written in a 32-bit environement.

Let's say you own a very old version of DOOM, and it is a 16-bit application. 64-bit editions won't be able to run them anymore. Although, you could download Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, and install a Windows distribution...say Windows 95/98. That often solves the problem.

  • can anyone help me how can i go from 24-bit color to 32-bit color if you wanna help me leave me a message.

  • Right-Click on the Desktop, select Properties. Then, in the Settings tab, select 32-bit from the drop down menu. If that does not exist, then you might need to look for an updated driver.

  • Excellent breakdown for us 'laypeople'. My question is...

If I have software that is designed to run only in a 32-bit environment, is there any way to 'fake' my 64-bit system into thinking it is a 32-bit to make it stop freezing up my software? I am having so many 64-bit software conflicts, I'm wondering if was worth it! What will make the software companies step up and write for 64-bit?

  • What will it take for companies? Time. It's all I can say. Eventually they'll have no choice to move to 64-bit.

The "fake" method you're talking is WOW64. It's the only one that runs, and if it is buggy, then I guess you're out of luck. It's rare that they don't work though.

  • ive got 2gb of ram...:(what should i get

  • You could be safer with 2 more. But if there's no problems with your everyday computing, I don't see the point of upgrading. You can still use 64-bit.

  • Great work, thanks a bunch :)

  • Okay, thanks for the answer. I guess 4GB should suffice. May I need more, I'll get more.

But another thing. Do you perhaps know which Intel Quad Core processor is the most stable to overclock? I searched and read a lot about the Q6600 being the best. Is that true? Also, could you please reference some sort of overclocking guide so I'll be able to fully understand how overclocking works? I already know the basics etc., so an in-depth guide would be preferred. Once again, thanks for your help.

  • I've seen the Q6600 hit great OCs, but it's best since it's quad core. I've heard good from the Q9300, Q9450 and E8400. I'll post a video for a overclocking how-to soon. Stay tuned.

  • Well, honestly, I ran Vista Business 64-bit with 4GB of RAM, and really, I haven't had trouble. You see, it doesn't really depend on how much RAM you have. It's mostly through the motherboard's bus speed and CPU's FSB. The real deal in RAM is actually the RAM's speed and latencys. The size is really to store stuff in there. 4GB would be reasonable, 6GB RAM would be maybe a sweeter spot, but 8GB, it feels like kind of overkill. If you want, this 8GB kit seems reasonable:

  • So, would 8GB of RAM for a Vista 64-bit edition suffice for high-end gaming? I just want to make sure I don't spend too much (or even too little) on my gaming rig. I'm looking for the best performance.

    Thanks in advance.

    P.S.

Sorry for the multiple post, but the character count is fairly minimal.

  • Because I'm considering getting the Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition, that by the way will mainly be used for high-end gaming, am I not supposed to use roughly 8GB of RAM? I know that for a 64-bit to run up to its maximum performance, the amount of RAM must be greatly increased (especially when used for applications such as gaming).

  • Nah, you don't need to increase RAM at all. You can run it on any ammount. The only thing that will happen is the less RAM you have, the less it can address the RAM to store stuff, where speed comes in...but there's a certain limit as well. You see, if you have 8GB of RAM, it will be used, but it won't fill up, as it is overkill.

  • Thanks man, helpful video. I have a question though. Since a 64-bit OS is essential for your hardware to perform to its maximum potential (in matter of speed etc.), musn't it come with a certain (large) amount of RAM to be able to run it smoothly to its full potential?
