Thank you for reminding us of God's promises in song - this is what I live for at the moment, that God is alive and will renew in me, His Hope of a happier tomorrow. What a wonderful Father we have, a God that would live and intercede for us each day, and create a home for eternity with Him.
When I'm reminded of this, it gives me a renewed sense of joy each day.
I have come back to view this wonderful video many times, because I just love it! It's wonderful to see all the ones that are no longer around singing again. Thanks!
My aunt, my mom, and I all sang this while standing around my grandmother's hospital bed as she was passing away from bone cancer. It was her favorite song, so it only seemed appropriate that we sing it. As we sang the verse that say "and then as death gives way to victory, i'll see the lights of glory and i'll know He lives", a tear fell from her eye and she took her last breath! I knew right at that time, that she was in the presence of God! There is no sweeter place than that!
@thankfulforpenrod What a beautiful story--and how wonderful for your grandmother that she got "sung" into Heaven! You must be a loving family! I hope I am so lucky at the end. Thanks for sharing that.
If we would only live as though we know with assurance that He lives, what a blessed nation this would be. I know no matter what the trial- my God lives and reigns in my heart! Praise His Holy Name!
I sang this several times at church with my husband and mother-in-law.Well now there is just me-the violence from them both got too great, and yes, He Lives, praise God, And I can finally face tomorrow!
I sang this song in an intensive care unit as 15 of us were around mams bed when she took suddenly ill and was going to be with the Lord. My sister was also there while in labour! all the nusing staff stopped and were listening as I sang songs and praises to the Lord in a moment of victory over such a momentous situation in my life, I know mam was listening too. Because He lives I Can face tomorrow!
Bh4bhwgm: You say we live in perilous times. Well, whenever a people can get whatever it wants when it wants, God will always be pushed aside and either become ignored or else disbelieved entirely. And he *will* remove his hand from them.
It's going to take more than a bad economy to bring them back, I'm afraid.
Of course, indoctrination by the public school system is a huge cause--start 'em young--but that's for another day.
Tesia...I feel the reason people have gotten away from God is they feel they can buy whatever they want and do not have to depend on our Heavenly Father for anything. How reckless. Guess they have forgotten He gives them life. This great song gives us courage and assurance that He is stil our Provider...Life now and after death and in the meantime meets our needs. HE does what HE said HE will do. He is an awesome God and this song brings that reality up in us. Hallelujah.
Folks, we are living in perilous times and only Because He Lives will we be able to get through them. I know oh yes I know He Lives because He reigns in my heart each and every day. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God.
My friend Kathy Hornsby loved this song. It gave her inspiration and hope. She died in Sept. of 2007 of ALS(Lou Gehrig's disease), and this was sung at her funeral.
Does anybody know the name of that black lady sitting in the chair beside that other black lady who is moving to the song? You'll see her at 1:03 She kinda looks like Alicia-Williamson-Garcia. Is that her, anybody know?
My mother took this song very personally as it first came out because I went through a very difficult birth and surgery at two weeks old (I was born just a few months after Benji Gaither in October 1971). Since then, this song may seem at times a bit cheesy, it melts me and reminds me about my mom - though I am far from home.
This is one song I only want to hear Bill Gaither sing.

This was one of my dad's favorite hymns..and when he went home to heaven on Dec,20,2007...we used it at his memorial service. I know that dad
always could face any thing because he knew that his Lord lives, and now he is with him in heaven.
