I remember first watching this in kindergarten and being depressed out of my mind! Thank God for the remake which granted was a little bit meloncoly but it wasn't depressing.
No. She's a trapper spider. She even mentions it in the novel & alludes to it as part of her daily living in this film by saying, "What with all this trapping & eating flies, a spider's life can't help but be something of a mess. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my own life a trifle."
This is such a lovely film. The songs are classics and the story so touching.
I remember seeing this version at the cinema, in widescreen with fantastic surround sound and good picture quality. What on earth has happened to this original release. The subsequent DVD + VHS releases have had poor video quality and only mono sound.
I saw this as a kid and loved it and of course cried at the end. But seeing it here after all these years and realizing that it was just a cheapo Hanna-Barbera thing is a bit of a letdown. Paul Lynde is still the greatest, though.
@GarlandFraser & Icantforgetnow: I thought the same thing, but i dont even think Seth McFarlene was alive then, or he was just a toddler. Crazy shit though. Sounds JUST like him. That's why i YouTubed this
It appears that both Full Frame and Widescreen versions have more info then the ladder while also croping down some information. In a YTP that uses the Widescreen version source, I see more info in the left and right parts of the image but notice some cropping up top and bottom while the Full Frame version is missing information on the sides but have more at the top and bottom.
Was Charlotte's Web shot in 1:66:1 by change and then got cropped down to 1:85:1 for the theatrical premiere and DVD?
Omg, this movie has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. And I love all the upbeat songs in it, including "We've got lots in comon." That one's my favorite.
I'm definitely gonna get the sound track and put it on my Ipod.
This is my favorite movie, but "Happiest motion picture of the year" is false advertisement. I mean, for the most part it is very happy, and the story is beautiful, and happy. But I always bawl my eyes out when Charlotte dies. And I'm an arachnophobic.
Chin up and just buy the DVD. Its going for less than a cheap pizza on Amazon right now. It'll look better than some split up, compressed and interlaced Youtube version, too.
I love the Hanna-Barbera Animation!!!! Specialy the Creative Productions by Iwao Takamoto!!!! N' Charlotte's Web is one of those. YYEEEEAAAHHHH!!!!!!
