If your still stuck bronxgirl712, try useing practice mode. That helped me when the difficulty jumped from easy to medium. It was a big jump for one difficulty level.

Yesterday on Slower Mode i got 100% on that Kiss song "Strutter" on easy mode without messing up.

Save your star power for when there's a lot of individual notes coming up, and use the whammy on a long star note to increase your star meter.

That note pattern you see at the very beggining... that'd probably be the best time to use it. Of course you can't do it on the first one, but on the later occurances of it. The ideal spot would be the huge rows of double notes but that doesn't occur too often so the main riff would be the best bet.
