@markandayravi1999 not very smoothly, i hav a inte; x4500 mhd and thats just only a bit better and i can play it smooth most of the times but most of the campigns were pretty laggy But playable mulitplayer and survival mods is very fun, as it is no laggy at all, well maybe sometimes but the lowest i got ever was 20 fps and u won't lag at all in multiplayer unless someone spams smoke grendades LOL but godd luck. @KusHDivine Overclocking is never 100% safe, but it's as safe as it's gonna get if you use Intel. Actually it makes no difference which brand of CPU you overclock, as far as how safe it is.
dude i try too oc my cpu with clockgen but when i change at pll control to 1.90GHZ it change it back to default ..can u tell me what should i do..and i found my corect pll
@VieaTv A lot of people seem to have this problem. I never had it, so I can't figure out how to fix it. Sorry :( I believe it has something to do with ClockGen not detecting your motherboard.
@mikeiscoold That means Clockgen can't figure out your motherboard. You're most likely out of luck, but you can try manually selecting it in Clockgen.
@Me6adeth01 Nope. Graphics cards can run much faster than they are released as. They're designed so that if you make it too fast (so it would become unstable) it will shut itself down to avoid damage. So you can pretty much go up to this speed and it works great.

@IRiiiiFT Over time, the parts wear out and you simply can't keep the clocks as high. It's natural. If you can't use other programs, Ntune isn't that bad. I assume you're talking about overclocking a graphics card here. Try Evga Precision or MSI Afterburner. Both great utilities.
@screamkilla Are you sure you motherboard is at max? I highly doubt it. That motherboard should be able to go to way higher than that. Did you change the CPU frequency, not just the multiplier in BIOS?

@tommy01470 That's what I was talking about. It's still not detecting your motherboard properly. You may be out of luck; I've never been able to figure out how to fix that problem. Have you tried overclocking through the BIOS?
@tommy01470 No problem. Sounds like something else is going on with your computer, since neither Clockgen or SetFSB work :( I'm not sure how else to help on this one. Try some googling for your issues. Good luck!
@alibaba566 That means Clockgen doesn't recognize your motherboard. What motherboard do you have? If possible, overclock through the BIOS instead. Clockgen is good for Dell and HP computers, which have propriety motherboards which don't support overclocking.
hey nutty nerd. im trying to oc my cpu i downloaded clock gen but when i open it i cant get the slider function, my cpu is an i7 930 @ 2.80 and my cpu cooler is a zalman 9900ntcpu cooler please help. thanks
@OhMyGolem That most likely means your CPU/motherboard isn't supported. Have you tried manually selecting your motherboard from Clockgen? It's hard to do, but it's worth a shot. Also, can you overclock from the BIOS?
@xXstreamplayerXx That most likely means your CPU/motherboard isn't supported. Have you tried manually selecting your motherboard from Clockgen? It's hard to do, but it's worth a shot. Also, can you overclock from the BIOS? It's better if possible, and since you've already overclocked you graphics card, chances are you can probably overclock through the BIOS.
@xXstreamplayerXx Ouch. That might be why you can't overclock with Clockgen. Overclocking could be out for you. You might be able to replace your motherboard (they're like $55 for a decent one) and then you could overclock through the BIOS.
@nuttynerd If i replace my motherboard i need to replace alot more, and my windows 7 is bound to that mothercard or something, so i kinda need to buy a whole new computer for that xP
@GTXentatainmentAC7 I only said 50mhz because I didn't want anyone to mess up their cards. Many cards can't even handle 50mhz, while others (like yours) can go 400mhz. Although I've never seen anyone overclock a graphics card by 400mhz. I've overclocked my CPU by 1.33 GHz, but graphics cards can't go nearly as high.
@leipeindo Dude you should go into the BIOS to overclock. That's a great motherboard. Don't waste it's potential by overclocking though Clockgen; use the BIOS overclocking on startup. It's probably "delete" to get into it, though it varies by motherboard.
@nuttynerd I tried every tool out there, but non seem to make me adjust the fan speeds. On evga the fan speed part is greyed out and pressing auto doesnt do anything, on rivatune there is no fan tab at 2:47 in the video? whats the reason for this? i have a 7200gs/7300se, it was a stock card and i havent touched the insides of my pc, so everything is default, but every card has a fan so why cant i adjust it?
So Im Very pissed off. Downloaded riva, and it dosent even have the Over clocking option like yours (from the same site and download) Then Clockgen Dosent have ONE option to Increase ANYTHING.... It just has hafe circles and no Bars to increas in pll...............
@marlo1204 ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 512MB PCI-E x16 card. This is a terrible card for overclocking, but since you should me this amazing program, I can control the speed of the fan to keep the temp. low. Thank you very much man.
Default GPU clock = 499.5MHZ
Default memory clock = 450MHZ
Overclocked GPU clock = 649.5MHZ
Overclocked memory clock = 620MHZ
GPU temperature steady at 71'C with fans on full blast!
Without fans temperature is 102'c and card shuts off.
Ok, I have a Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 with XFX 9500 gt Graphics Card and with Coolmax 600watts. Can I overclock my CPU from 2.0 to like 2.5 or like 2.8. or if not just tell me whats a safe overclock with the right amount of voltage..
@Gdale32djs Oh you can easily go to 2.5 GHz, although it would be better to overclock through the BIOS if at all possible. That PSU will handle a quadcore overclocked to 3.5 GHz with that graphics card very easily. No problem for your CPU.
Ok, if I overclock to 3.0ghz(if possible) what voltage do i need to set it too. Im new to overclocking especialy through bios. Tell what settings i need to put so my temperature in my pc is cool too
@Gdale32djs Not familiar with your CPU. Here's what to do though. Overclock a little without voltage change. Boot up computer. Test with a game or intensive app. If stable, overclock more. Reboot and test again. Keep doing this until it crashes/won't boot up. When this happens, bump up the voltage by .1 volts, and increase the overclock. Keep testing for stability. Temps should stay under 65 degrees C (at full load).
Hi I have an HP OEM pavilion and when I tried clockgen I noticed there weren't any bars to adjust the clocks. I realize this is because my bios is from a locked HP pheonix bios but I was wondering is there anyway or any other programs that i could use to get around that so i can overclock my cpu?
@kasumisman Not sure about that one. I'd say probably not. I usually overclock through BIOS anyway, so I'm not an expert on using tools. However, search around. There's one tool out there (can't remember the name) that might help you.
@vietskyx91 Yes, you should be able to overclock through your motherboard, and games should be fine with a good graphic card. make sure your power supply can handle whatever card you get though.
Hi. Thanks for sharing these great apps. However, I am a bit confuzzled, when I run Clockgen, i get two options, "Clocks" and "Options". How do I display the sliders?
@JohnnyWick3d You probably don't have a supported motherboard. You could try manually selecting it...don't remember exactly where you do that. It's somewhere in the options.
@TheMrVanstone i did a lot of research and found out that the mother board i tried to overclock was not meant to so meaning i can't use the pll setup on there
@FELIX0123 Then that's all it can take. Some cards won't be overclocked no matter what you do. There isn't a real fix for it. You could try overclocking the memory of the card though.
@nuttynerd i just over clocked my desktop from 2.0 GHz to 2.4 GHz (to bad its only 1 GB ram max and 2.4 GHz CPU max (im geting a new MOBO for it though. and i over clocked my video card a while ago with EVGA's over clocking tool
@MrViking96 Well I build my own computers, but you could check out newegg(.)com, or just go to Dell, HP, etc. Alienware(.)com has a lot of fancy gaming rigs if that's what you're looking for.
i've got a Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4600 2.40 GHz 3GB ddr2 ram- 256 mb grapicscard ati radeon hd pro 2600 pretty sucky grapics .... what can i do best for my cpu ?????
hi ive got an intel core 2 duo p7350 @ 2.0Ghz, 4 GBs DDR2 RAM, and an ATI radeon HD4650 mobile, how far can i go with that? also, overclocking is disabled in BIOS, so I can't do that
@Dave308439 So it's a laptop? Be careful, cause they overheat easily. I'd try overclocking to like 2.2 GHZ, or maybe even 2.15 GHz. Seriously. With laptops, it's not a good idea to overclock much, but it's worth a shot. You could overclock the graphics card pretty good though. Not sure that Clockgen will work with mobile CPUs though.
Is it possible to Overclock a AMD Phenom II x4 810(2.6Ghz) to 3.2Ghz or at least to 3.0Ghz without any problems with Clockgen? I would do BIOS but my motherboard wont allow.
@KevinCroner I wouldn't recommend it, but it would probably work. First try 2.9 GHz or so, and keep working your way up until you find the highest stable overclock.
Do I need any high powered CPU cooling to overclock my CPU at all through ClockGen? Or can I go from 2.3 to maybe 2.5 or 2.6 safely without additional cooling systems? Please get back to me. Thanks.
@buyfu With Clockgen, you could go to 2.4 GHz very safely, possibly higher if you wanted to. If you overclocked through the BIOS, you could go to 2.8 GHz at least (depending on your processor).
Hi, just wanted to ask how far can I go with a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+, 2.10 GHz, 2GB Ram? And a Ati Radeon X1250(Lousy ass card) graphic card? If theres websites that can help, please me give me the link.
@Skampo1119 The processor you could overclock to probably 2.4 GHz safely (with clockgen). If you went through the BIOS, probably 2.6 GHz or so. Can't say for sure on the graphics card (not familiar with it). The best thing to do is to overclock it 10 MHz at a time, and each time you increase the speed, test in a game to make sure it's stable. When it crashes, back down the overclock to 20 MHz or so below the crash speed.
all I see in clockgen are two buttons: clocks, and options.
the clocks button only displays current clock speeds and the options button only has the frames snap and run on startup options, there is no way for me to select my motherboard model or adjust any clock speeds.
@nuttynerd some PoS gateway that i've upgraded a bit, mobo is still factory though.
W/e I'm gonna build myself a new one soon and plan on OC'ing so I just wanted to know an easy way to OC processors, hopefully my new mobo will support it with clockgen.
@alphaguitar2 Any motherboard (not from HP, Dell, Acer, Gateway, etc) works with overclocking through the BIOS. In other words, if you upgrade your motherboard to an Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, etc board, then you can go into the BIOS and manually set the CPU to run faster. It works hundreds of times better than Clockgen, and you can overclock further. I'm currently running an Intel i5 750 (2.66 GHz) at 3.5 GHz, and could go further but for temps.
I know that bios clocking allows for better OC'ing but I've also heard that going farther than 1-200mhz usually requires you to alter voltages and stuff from the PSU to the CPU if you don't want to damage your system and I have no clue how to properly do that based on how much I'm overclocking so I doubt I'll go farther than 100-200mhz and I can prolly do that with clockgen.
@alphaguitar2 You don't have to alter voltages unless you overclock pretty high. I'm at 3.5 GHz (almost 900 MHz increase) with no voltages changed whatsoever. Don't go for 1 to 200 MHz. Go for at least 600 (depends on proc). With most quad cores you can overclock at least that much without changing voltages of any kind.
@alphaguitar2 Yes, pretty significant. Dolphin, for example, runs much better now. And since I have two GTS 250 graphics card in SLI, I need a really fast processor to keep up. If I hadn't overclocked, my system wouldn't be nearly as fast. Temperatures remain acceptable (raising voltages bumps temps up pretty good, which is why I stopped at 3.5 GHz). As long as you have good cooling, you can overclock most modern processors 600-800 MHz (may require voltage change on some procs).
@arbri135 It's in the settings or options in the upper left hand corner, if I remember correctly. It's very hard to find a motherboard model in the Clockgen list though. You might be out of luck.
Can someone help me.After using clockgen and nothing happen then i reboot my pc but the monitor just black and my cpu fan spinning realy fast.I just unplug my pc and it works again.Does someone know what the problems.
@123456Naim Yes, but that was through the BIOS with voltage modifications. Changing CPU voltages will let you overclock much higher. With clockgen, all it does it change the speed. You get minimal boosts with Clockgen. If you really want to overclock, build your own computer or overclock through the BIOS.
ive read a couple page of comments but didn't find any other questions like it. when i open clockgen i only have 2 options.
options and clocks
i have a custom built pc but have a processor i stole out of my friends old computer ;) was curious if thats why i cant overclock or if i just need a different version of clockgen.
i tried OC in the BIOS, but i got a ECS motherboard and its more confusing than most =/
Ah. A lot of people seem to be having this problem, actually. You say you have an ECS motherboard? What model is it? I'll help you overclock through the BIOS, as it's much stabler, and you get more performance. Only use Clockgen for Dells who don't have an overclocking option in the BIOS. But the most likely source of your problem is that Clockgen is not correctly sensing your motherboard.
thank you for the reply, i googled (as i should have before commenting <.<) updates for all my drivers, i finally got it so i can bump up my CPU frequency but im not exactly sure on where to "unlink" my reference clock. so ive successfully overclocked my processor but also my RAM, HT link and so on.
With Clockgen, you have to link them all together. All Clockgen does is up the base speed for the CPU, which is linked to everything else if you do it through Clockgen. If you go into the BIOS, you'll find lots of other options to overclock each component separately. This let's you have better performance, less heat, and greater reliability. Plus, you can overclock further cause you can change the voltages, allowing you to overclock way higher than Clockgen can.
yeah ive been messing around in the BIOS, the update changed things a bit. oddly enough i found the stuff im looking for :) thank you for replying and such i appreciate it.
ok nevermind the first comment i said. srry. i have vista 64bit but everytime i open clockgen i don't get the option that say's pll control or the other thing you said. What do i do??????? PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey nutty nerd. im trying to oc my cpu i downloaded clock gen but when i open it i cant get the slider function, my cpu is an i7 930 @ 2.80 and my cpu cooler is a zalman 9900ntcpu cooler please help. thanks

@lewie193 Is your computer custom built? If it is, then you can overclock through the BIOS, which is much better than using Clockgen.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@lewie193 For the processor you can also do it through BIOS. Without a program.

OhMyGolem 1 year ago
@OhMyGolem That most likely means your CPU/motherboard isn't supported. Have you tried manually selecting your motherboard from Clockgen? It's hard to do, but it's worth a shot. Also, can you overclock from the BIOS?

i ´downloaded it, and i cant change my cpu speed..... i use ati catalyst, overclocking my ati card to 850 mhz.,,,,

@xXstreamplayerXx That most likely means your CPU/motherboard isn't supported. Have you tried manually selecting your motherboard from Clockgen? It's hard to do, but it's worth a shot. Also, can you overclock from the BIOS? It's better if possible, and since you've already overclocked you graphics card, chances are you can probably overclock through the BIOS.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd Its disabled on my motherboard, i cant overclock it from bios. Only my ati card with ati catalyst. =/
xXstreamplayerXx 1 year ago
@xXstreamplayerXx Ouch. That might be why you can't overclock with Clockgen. Overclocking could be out for you. You might be able to replace your motherboard (they're like $55 for a decent one) and then you could overclock through the BIOS.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd If i replace my motherboard i need to replace alot more, and my windows 7 is bound to that mothercard or something, so i kinda need to buy a whole new computer for that xP
xXstreamplayerXx 1 year ago
@GTXentatainmentAC7 No problem dude.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@GTXentatainmentAC7 I only said 50mhz because I didn't want anyone to mess up their cards. Many cards can't even handle 50mhz, while others (like yours) can go 400mhz. Although I've never seen anyone overclock a graphics card by 400mhz. I've overclocked my CPU by 1.33 GHz, but graphics cards can't go nearly as high.

nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd Asus P6T Deluxe V2
leipeindo 1 year ago
@leipeindo Dude you should go into the BIOS to overclock. That's a great motherboard. Don't waste it's potential by overclocking though Clockgen; use the BIOS overclocking on startup. It's probably "delete" to get into it, though it varies by motherboard.

Gdale32djs 1 year ago
@Gdale32djs Oh you can easily go to 2.5 GHz, although it would be better to overclock through the BIOS if at all possible. That PSU will handle a quadcore overclocked to 3.5 GHz with that graphics card very easily. No problem for your CPU.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd
Ok, if I overclock to 3.0ghz(if possible) what voltage do i need to set it too. Im new to overclocking especialy through bios. Tell what settings i need to put so my temperature in my pc is cool too
Gdale32djs 1 year ago
@Gdale32djs Not familiar with your CPU. Here's what to do though. Overclock a little without voltage change. Boot up computer. Test with a game or intensive app. If stable, overclock more. Reboot and test again. Keep doing this until it crashes/won't boot up. When this happens, bump up the voltage by .1 volts, and increase the overclock. Keep testing for stability. Temps should stay under 65 degrees C (at full load).

Hi I have an HP OEM pavilion and when I tried clockgen I noticed there weren't any bars to adjust the clocks. I realize this is because my bios is from a locked HP pheonix bios but I was wondering is there anyway or any other programs that i could use to get around that so i can overclock my cpu?
kasumisman 1 year ago
@kasumisman Not sure about that one. I'd say probably not. I usually overclock through BIOS anyway, so I'm not an expert on using tools. However, search around. There's one tool out there (can't remember the name) that might help you.

Dave308439 1 year ago

KevinCroner 1 year ago
@KevinCroner I wouldn't recommend it, but it would probably work. First try 2.9 GHz or so, and keep working your way up until you find the highest stable overclock.

Do I need any high powered CPU cooling to overclock my CPU at all through ClockGen? Or can I go from 2.3 to maybe 2.5 or 2.6 safely without additional cooling systems? Please get back to me. Thanks.

@almostsk81 What CPU do you have? You should be fine, especially if it's an AMD processor.

@nuttynerd
I have an AMD processor 9650 X4.
Also I have seen some simple ways to overclock using the BIOS so I think I may do that instead.
Cheers.
almostsk81 1 year ago
@almostsk81 If you can, it's much better to use the BIOS. Clockgen is only really useful for people with Dells, HPs, etc.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@almostsk81
almostsk81 1 year ago
@buyfu With Clockgen, you could go to 2.4 GHz very safely, possibly higher if you wanted to. If you overclocked through the BIOS, you could go to 2.8 GHz at least (depending on your processor).
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd
Thanks! :D
Skampo1119 1 year ago
@Skampo1119 The processor you could overclock to probably 2.4 GHz safely (with clockgen). If you went through the BIOS, probably 2.6 GHz or so. Can't say for sure on the graphics card (not familiar with it). The best thing to do is to overclock it 10 MHz at a time, and each time you increase the speed, test in a game to make sure it's stable. When it crashes, back down the overclock to 20 MHz or so below the crash speed.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
all I see in clockgen are two buttons: clocks, and options.
the clocks button only displays current clock speeds and the options button only has the frames snap and run on startup options, there is no way for me to select my motherboard model or adjust any clock speeds.
alphaguitar2 1 year ago
@alphaguitar2 That sucks. Pretty much means you're out of luck unless you can go through BIOS. What brand computer do you have?
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd some PoS gateway that i've upgraded a bit, mobo is still factory though.
W/e I'm gonna build myself a new one soon and plan on OC'ing so I just wanted to know an easy way to OC processors, hopefully my new mobo will support it with clockgen.
alphaguitar2 1 year ago
@alphaguitar2 Any motherboard (not from HP, Dell, Acer, Gateway, etc) works with overclocking through the BIOS. In other words, if you upgrade your motherboard to an Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, etc board, then you can go into the BIOS and manually set the CPU to run faster. It works hundreds of times better than Clockgen, and you can overclock further. I'm currently running an Intel i5 750 (2.66 GHz) at 3.5 GHz, and could go further but for temps.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd oh ok thx wasn't sure about the mobo.
I know that bios clocking allows for better OC'ing but I've also heard that going farther than 1-200mhz usually requires you to alter voltages and stuff from the PSU to the CPU if you don't want to damage your system and I have no clue how to properly do that based on how much I'm overclocking so I doubt I'll go farther than 100-200mhz and I can prolly do that with clockgen.
alphaguitar2 1 year ago
@alphaguitar2 You don't have to alter voltages unless you overclock pretty high. I'm at 3.5 GHz (almost 900 MHz increase) with no voltages changed whatsoever. Don't go for 1 to 200 MHz. Go for at least 600 (depends on proc). With most quad cores you can overclock at least that much without changing voltages of any kind.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd wow, you noticing a pretty significant performance increase with that?
alphaguitar2 1 year ago
@alphaguitar2 Yes, pretty significant. Dolphin, for example, runs much better now. And since I have two GTS 250 graphics card in SLI, I need a really fast processor to keep up. If I hadn't overclocked, my system wouldn't be nearly as fast. Temperatures remain acceptable (raising voltages bumps temps up pretty good, which is why I stopped at 3.5 GHz). As long as you have good cooling, you can overclock most modern processors 600-800 MHz (may require voltage change on some procs).
nuttynerd 1 year ago
why i can't overclock my CPU cuz when i go to clockgen it don't shows any clock
arbri135 1 year ago
@arbri135 You probably need to manually select your motherboard in Clockgen settings.
nuttynerd 1 year ago
@nuttynerd but how to manually select it
arbri135 1 year ago
@arbri135 It's in the settings or options in the upper left hand corner, if I remember correctly. It's very hard to find a motherboard model in the Clockgen list though. You might be out of luck.

I have seen Intel E2160 stock overclocked to 3.2Ghz.I only try to overclock my cpu to 2.0Ghz
123456Naim 1 year ago
@123456Naim Yes, but that was through the BIOS with voltage modifications. Changing CPU voltages will let you overclock much higher. With clockgen, all it does it change the speed. You get minimal boosts with Clockgen. If you really want to overclock, build your own computer or overclock through the BIOS.

ive read a couple page of comments but didn't find any other questions like it. when i open clockgen i only have 2 options.
options and clocks
i have a custom built pc but have a processor i stole out of my friends old computer ;) was curious if thats why i cant overclock or if i just need a different version of clockgen.
i tried OC in the BIOS, but i got a ECS motherboard and its more confusing than most =/
fuzzywinkle8310 2 years ago
Ah. A lot of people seem to be having this problem, actually. You say you have an ECS motherboard? What model is it? I'll help you overclock through the BIOS, as it's much stabler, and you get more performance. Only use Clockgen for Dells who don't have an overclocking option in the BIOS. But the most likely source of your problem is that Clockgen is not correctly sensing your motherboard.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
thank you for the reply, i googled (as i should have before commenting <.<) updates for all my drivers, i finally got it so i can bump up my CPU frequency but im not exactly sure on where to "unlink" my reference clock. so ive successfully overclocked my processor but also my RAM, HT link and so on.
i have a GF8200A, Athlon 3600+
and i know my processor sucks. but it was free :D
fuzzywinkle8310 2 years ago
With Clockgen, you have to link them all together. All Clockgen does is up the base speed for the CPU, which is linked to everything else if you do it through Clockgen. If you go into the BIOS, you'll find lots of other options to overclock each component separately. This let's you have better performance, less heat, and greater reliability. Plus, you can overclock further cause you can change the voltages, allowing you to overclock way higher than Clockgen can.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
yeah ive been messing around in the BIOS, the update changed things a bit. oddly enough i found the stuff im looking for :) thank you for replying and such i appreciate it.
