  • holy shit I am 32 and I totally miss playing this game! Where can I get this game again?

  • @salmonlasac Good Old Games dot com. A Space Quest collection is available in retail stores, but it only has the VGA remake.

For the longest time, the best places to get old games were abandonware websites and IRC channels, which spread the games to preserve them. Of course, it was still illegal. Digital distribution has since grown up, and it's getting easier to buy classics online. GOG is the poster boy for this development. (It has also made things quite awkward for abandonware sites.)

  • Wow what a blast from the past!

  • Space Quest an old classic that I also use to play with my Dad along with King's Quest. Loved these games. :)

  • My first game in Amiga .....

  • YOU LOSE, HOMEBOY!!!

  • 2:50

It is good to be cautious when encountering alien holes. Never know what you might catch.

  • 7:27 "show care" :D

  • Oh my god, can you make a 30 year old man cry any more with these memories of a childhood gone long ago? .. I would do ANYTHING to feel the same fire I felt when I was that simple child playing the space quest series .........

  • I miss adventure game death.

  • Watching all the ways you could die in Space Quest made me all the more appretiative of LucasArts`s approach of removing the ability altogether for most of their adventure games.

  • XD at his face at 4:03

  • There's no such word as carbogelatinous, is there?

  • Oooolld school

  • My dad and I got that game when it first came out and played it on our shiny, new Radio Shack Tandy 1000 HX computer. We spent many memorable hours on it. Good times. The one part that had us stuck for a long time was the laser beam in the cave. Eventually we went back to Radio Shack to ask the dude and he told us of the glass (?) piece that's near the ship when you first "land" on the planet. DUH!!

  • hmm looks like some different stuff in the EGA version...all I have is the VGA one though with the SQ4 toolbar.

I played SQ1 a long long time ago on a friend's computer when I was in elementry school, and never made it off the ship.

  • So the janitor in Space Quest 1 is Roger Wilco? I didn't know that.

  • my dad has the collectors edition parts I-V

    and has part VI aswell

bah i like part 1 but 2 is kinda more annoying

  • "gee wiz Roger, had you been more profitable you might still be alive to elude and frustrate your fans far more than Monkey Island ever did..."

  • Is it available for download? It's like Hugo all over again LOL!!

  • NICE VIDEO!!!!

  • Yes, nothing like reliving frustrating moments from my youth.

  • "That's right, the land of King's Quest. This will not help you since you are playing Space Quest."

  • haha, excellent, I loved all the sierra games! I tried to reply this recently... but alas, the dying all the time got me bored

  • good thing there is youtube, we can just watch ppl play games we are too lazy to play ourselves now :D

  • In the remake you don't land in daventry, you land in wherever Conquests of the Longbow takes place in.

  • I can't believe I love the intro music.

  • i wish modern games had witty narration like this...

  • of course, i prefer the narration in the remake.

  • the narration is rather witty, I must say.

  • whoohoo classic sierra! love it! I like the VGA remake of this game too.

  • The sheer amount of "fuck you's" to the player make this game a classic.

  • LOL...good old roger

  • this brings back memories of me and my babiesitter playing kingsquest all day. i think i was five

  • God I love this entire series.

  • It brings back so many memories.. 10/10

  • "If the droid could laugh, which it is not programed to do so, it would do so."

One of the most memorable quotes from SQ4: "'Help! A giant branch has penetrated my vital organs, and I can't get up!' Seriously, did you really think this guy has time to talk to you? He's too busy being dead!"

  • I love the way this game slaps you in the face when you do anything mildly "off path".

  • lol he went to kings quest world

  • ahahaha @ 4:49

  • "Climb in hole" == brilliant!

  • LOL...i dunno why but just after 6:00 when you died by "exit craft" made me crack up

  • If I'm not mistaken, it's because without the jetpack, you can't get to the Sarien ship.

  • You lose, homeboy! That was the best part.

  • Love the Blues Brothers at 5:10!

  • 1:47 is epic win. ANYYONE who has ever lived will press a "don't touch" button or input a command like that at least once. It's the law of nature, and it just feels gooooooooood.

Meebe not for Roger.... but who can resist?!?!?

  • I love how this game insults you when you die. It's hilarious!

  • Nerf Herder's "5000 Ways to die" would have been appropriate music to play

  • i miss games like space quest havent found a game i relly liked sence

  • Why Castle of Daventry has flag of Finland??

  • Simple: Everything's better with Finland. When applied in moderate quantities.

  • Where did you get that music from? I like it.

  • To fit the theme, it's a medley from Space Quest games - except for one small bit from a King's Quest, I think. The site is credited at the end.

  • Love that sound track!

  • Those were the days man!

  • they don't make games as funny as this any more

  • Buy Orat a cold one.

  • No! Not Daventry! Anything but that!

  • this version is different from mine! i guess i have the vga? hmm... this one looks like more fun, actually...

  • Those old Sierra games were brutal.

I' like to see a eath highlight video of II. It had a ridiculous number of ways to die.

  • Look up username MrWhitman.

  • I suppose I might take a crack at some of the other ways to die in the other games.

  • BEST

    VIDEO

    EVER.

  • You missed out dying in the pod if you don't fasten the belt too.

  • Can't you die by walking into the force field on Ulence flats?

  • No, not in the EGA version.

  • drop rock on orat

  • I remember playing this game along time ago. It was nothing but taunting trial and error. Still a classic though, lol.

  • Cool, well done! Memories of yesteryear, on my lousy pcjr. F##k IBM.

  • I think it is really funny that he died almost immediately after just starting a new game. :)

  • Shit happens...

  • I'd say it's kind of a shame they don't make Space Quest no more, but it's a shame what it eventually became.

  • my sister and I manged to get off the ship in this game (meaning the one invaded sariens). It was so fun, then I was hooked, and finally beat the game after playing it more than a year! We were especially stuck where you get in the trunk. We used box, climb in vent, etc etc...Awesome games the quest series!!

  • Yeah, I remember being stuck on that part too.

  • I FUCKING LOVE ROGER WILCO!

  • Roger Wilco is my hero!

  • WIL-CO! WIL-CO! WIL-CO!:D

  • when my brother and i use to play this game we had so much fun. when my uncle came in one day we asked him how do u take out orat and he worked at it for 10 mins and he said well i might as well type in "stand on the rock and take a piss." this game brings back funny memories

  • This brings back all those nice memories of my beginning years of gaming 5/5

  • "Gee whiz, Roger! You could actually be a hero if you weren't so clumsy."

Lol, that always cracks me up.

  • I've looked everywhere for Quest deaths! It'd be great if you posted more of these.

  • F5 F5 F5

  • lol nice video! i never got past that gate on the planet that chopped you up. hehe, i wonder if someone can beat the game in 40min like that old Kings Quest video i found lol.

  • It's possible, I suppose, of course a lot of time will be spent in the bar trying to win enough Buckazoids from the slot machine, which leaves a lot to chance.

  • Great vid! This is what those old Sierra games are all about!

  • Great job! It brought back sweet memories.

You did miss though, of falling off the Kerona cliffs.

  • awesome job on the video!

i hope you make the deaths of roger for all the SQ games

  • Poor weapon droid :)

Folks, try out SQ2, too - the death messages are legendary.

  • great job on the video, like it alot

my favorite part is when he presses the "don't touch" button and ends up in king's quest land, lol

nice credits too! "The work - Kizor" =)

  • That's my favourite part too. Btw in the VGA Remake Roger crashes into Nottingham Pub known from Conquests of the Longbow instead of King's Quest.
