@xxDankLongboardsxx Freeagent introducing their "limo" (and whatever it was named before that) had a huge influence on modern geometries. It's not hard to understand that a longer top tube and steeper head angle allows for a better handlebar placement and easier riding whilst standing.
I was at this race,10ex 1st place, still have the trophy. LOL. I raced factory GT in the 80's. The names not in the A main were Jim Paiva, Rick Foster, Bryan Patterson's brother Brent and the SkyWAy team .This used to be Bobby Lindquists home track. Good times with new technology.

Those old tracks have barely any jumps it was just all out speed, alot different from tracks now.
