Thanks indeed for this. Brings back many happy memories. Have some footage of A39 at Downpatrick on my channel for those interested. Thanks again for posting this wonderful video.
i was actualy the driver who drove this train from rlare std to waterford that day and later i was sent a video of the whole journey never knew by who if you do happen to see this thanks.
My Father served his time as a Diesel fitter from 1954-59 working mostly on the A&C class when they had those terrible crossley HST Vee 8's. They were still under warranty at that time. The best move CIE did in the 60's was re-engining them with emd's. The australian railways weren't so fortunate and were stuck with those horrible crossleys until the bitter end.
I remember seeing those locomotives on the Dublin-Rosslare line when I was a kid. Wish I could have been on that trip. Well done on the video!! Excellent job!!
Can remember that trip very well indeed and what a trip it was, The funny thing is the engine is the only part of that train to survive!! Nice video, thanks for sharing!!!
When new, these locos were fitted with Crossley diesel engines but proved to be totally unrereliable & were re-fitted with General Motors power units.
why are there a pile of A classes boarded up are they gone into storage

Something like this should nearly be given to the national archives for historical value in the future

I think I saw myself at 3:35. 14 years later, thanks for recording this.

Wonderful. Surely there must be more Metro-Vick footage around?
