Khan Academy is amazing. I am in a second year chemistry class with a teacher who is not that great of a teacher, and Sal has essentially become my chemistry teacher in that he decodes the matrix text spoken by my IRL teacher and translates it into a language I have almost no trouble understanding. I have not just passed but aced many tests because of Sal and Khan Academy, which is also a testament to how desperately the American education system is floundering.

@ValeV008 Khanacademy actually has several backup sources. On Archive.org, direct downloads and torrent downloads. If you're in KA on a network where youtube is blocked (like a school), it will actually default to a different stream host. YouTube is just the preferable website to use by default.

I know Sal Khan has done a great job. Hats off for him.

But talking about free education - MIT has FREE education as well and there are numerous other websites/etc. that provide free education and much more in depth than you'd expect khan academy to provide.

But his strength lies in his ability to simplify and explain things for the "general public" and kids in small schools. That is his advantage and he's done very well with it

I think with khan academy, It allows students who are reserved to them selves in class or people who feel un confident in their learning in class to actually learn by him/her self. but I believe that the US educational system comes down to parents responsibilities in teaching their kids priorities and managing their time when actually studying. the students who are actually shy in class are people who don't feel they are actually learning or afraid they aren't learning the right material.
