Let's make something clear scenario of this film is really bad one. Here my reason:

If the war between aliens and humanity has been began just because of the fact that the alien kid has been murdered then why did not aliens go back in time and save their noble kid instead of the dumb kid-Milly!?

Do not the aliens have enough technology to produce a time machine although they are capable of making disguised ships and they have enough power to control space!?

As an observer you think that, but in reality I think the aliens were supposed to be like Humans, they panicked. People do irrational and stupid things when they're like that.
