  • If this tune doesn't bring tears, you are DEAD!

  • By The Way, This is NOT a "Romatic Song"! Listen to the words....Gee Wizzz

  • Pure Perfection! Del is THE MAN.

  • don't think i'll listen to the Horrors' 'Who Can Say' the same way again after this! :) good song though!

  • Del Shannon was awesome... but I like too much the version of The Lettermen of this wonderful and romantic song

  • Billy Fury done a good version x

  • I agree the tempos wrong and his treatment of the lyric's rather straight like he's rehearsing it for a musical, it's clearly not his song

  • A very nice cover: however, not the same tempo nor the same emotion. And I really do know.

Perhaps the best of the truly best of covers.

  • NOTE; Click on (more info.) to see the LYRICS to this great song...Please let me know of any omissions or errors...Thank You...

  • super version of this song.does anyone have JAY BLACK singing RETURN TO ME. for posting.

  • To Bobbyfozz- I don't think Jay Black ever did this in performances, but original Jay Traynor, who now sings with the east coast Tokens with Jay Siegel does, and yes older, but not flabbier.

  • Del Shannon: another great talent who ended in tragedy. All of his work is wonderfult. This song is, probably, better done by Jay and the Americans. But Del does it justice.

  • @keefek It is my humble opinion he did every song justice. I loved Del Shannon.

  • does anyone have a video for the original version of Give Us Your Blessings? who sang It?

  • I shall look into it and then get back to you.

    Michael

  • Thanks For the help , Michael

By the way, Even The Shangri las version is gone

  • my pleasure.

Maybe there are copies we do not know of.

I am like a pit bull in searching, and again, I shall try to help.

    best regards,

    Michael

  • Ray Petersen originally performed "Give Us Your Blessings" in 1963. The Shangri Las also performed this song in the early 60's

  • I love this song and the versions I've heard by the male singers are all good. Nevertheless, I have to say the Shangri-Las version (renamed 'He Cried') still stands way out as the best for me.

  • Not Jay and the Americans, but still I liked it and if Del was around I would go to hear it. Jay's version might be the best but as he got older and flabbier he wasn't the same.

  • This is the only version I've heard, and I love it. I really like Jay and the Americans, but Del Shannon's style and this production defines the era.

  • The original recording was done in the fall of '61 by Jay and the Americans with the original lead singer Jay Traynor.

  • Still, to listen to that God given voice. Wow!

I know others have recorded this song. But close your eyes and listen...Dam- why did this guy end it?

  • He absolutely did this song better than others who tried it! I completely agree!

  • Never knew Del covered this song. As usual, he's incomparable. One of the original huge talents of early 60s rock (after the music died according to some).

  • in fact it was a billy fury song originally

  • I believe that this IS, in fact Jay & The Americans, from '62.

  • "She Cried" was recorded by a few other singers including this version by Del Shannon and one by P.J. Proby. With ALL due respect to Mr. Shannon, Mr. Proby's version was superior to his; as well as Jay Traynor's version.

  • Tranquilatus has posted the version by Jay and the Americans. If you listen to that, and this, you can tell the difference.

  • Excellent!...Back in the day hartbrkr...

  • Never heard this by Del. Thanks for posting. Just as good as jay and the Americans hit version.

  • No...the lyrics goes something like this -- She , she told me that she loved me and like a fool i believed her from the start---- i don't know if the title is SHE

  • You might be thinking of "She" by "The Monkees"

  • You're my memory is quite messy -- I meant the song that had the I cant be true --" ilove you but I can't be true, I need you, what can I do"-- that's it. :)

  • I am looking for a Del Shannon song --was it titled "She"?

  • A very good oldie thanks Brent441 so much for this.
