  • nice review i have a few questions.

1 Are the paddles of hihat contrller and kick included in the package?

2 u have shown us that u can switch between hihat controls up to double kick controls, so how would u be able to control the double kick and the hihat at the same time?

3 when we hit a snare or hihat at different positions they make different sounds according to the sensitivity or positioning of the stick impact, does DD65 respond in a similar way to playing and produces the same sound?

  • Question: To get double bass, could I possibly purchase another bass pedal for the yamaha DD65 and then hook both of them up to a Y in/out wire and then connect it into the Yamaha DD65 - thus having 2 velocity bass pedals and 1 open/close hi-hat pedal?

  • whats the difference between the yamaha ydd-60 <-- I have this one, and the dd65?

  • looks like a total piece of shit

  • @FootHillFav its good if you want to make an electronic song on any software that supports midi input

  • Anyone knows whether the Roadie Kick Rocker will work on this?

I've been wanting to get a pressure-sensitive kick rather than the switch button.

  • i wanna learn drums and this will be the first drum that i'll ever have... i live in a small apartment and this is my only hope to learn drums ! or i can go weekly to a drum room and rent it hourly !

  • Love this dudes face when he is playing, gets right into it !

  • @Graeme4269 i know i just went on mine and took the mick out of him what a legend

  • This got double pedal?

  • Hey does anyone know if there is a CASE that can be bought for this?

  • Are the rubber drum heads user replaceable?

  • They still have the problem that no sound come out while play two pads at the same time...

  • @ermollejuo um, no? even in this video you can hear two sounds when two pads hit

  • whats better for a guitarist that wants a cheap drumset but cant make alot of noise, this or a more full size one like the simmons sd7pk?

  • i got a dd-6 my grand father gave me, talk about vintage, im a guitarist, but i still like to have fun on the drums xD, really want this

  • Is it possible to add your own songs to drums? Not only these which are already here for example if I wanna add here some ACDC Back In Black how I can add it to them?

  • @jokerhateme yes you can... through the aux port. Mp3 and stuff like that.

  • At 4:34 it sounds like cheesy 80s music.

  • That looks so much fun I should get one!!

  • i have a small 8 track tascam porta studio...would this work?

  • I have real drums. but when I want to not make my neighbors get pissed I want to get one of these so there is no problem :D

  • Great video thanks

  • Would it work if i practiced with this drum kit and was taught with an acoustic kit?

  • Where I can find those acessoris like bass stand, my drums didn´t came with it!!

  • 0:17

    Does he mean "successor"?

  • music arts brick and mortar store,

    looks so much fun!!

  • music arts brick and mortar store

  • Where can i find the upgrade kit for the dd65 love the drums need the kit

  • i have the dd-5!

  • hmmm grest tanıtım..

  • can u modify the hi hat pedal to another bass pedal so that you will have a double bass?? please tell me... i really need to know

  • @jbcortez24 Hello, I do not have this unit but from the many videos I've watched and after I read the specs on this, I learned that you can have 3 custom sets, so yes you should be able to customize the pedals to a double bass.

  • I'm in Sydney, Australia, where can I buy this? Can any of you let me know guys.. i searched many sites so I'd prefer shop rather than sites..

  • good

  • erm, the dd55 DID hav double bass, it was kit 01 :P alternatively, u just clicked pad, hit the hi-hat, an turned the wheel 2 10 an u wer sorted... this dudes a yamaha salesman yet he dusnt know his stuff- smooth!

  • Interesting how he had two first things that he noticed...

  • His mam boob jigles

  • smashing pumpkin

  • I WISH I COULD GET THIS !!! YAMAHA D55 IS SO OLD AND IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE DD-65. NOT SAYING IT'S DUM IT'S JUST THAT THE 65 IS MORE BETTER.

  • 0.24-0.25 ITS PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!!

  • He says you can pack this up and bring it to a jazz gig. Riiiiiiiiiiight! I'd be laughed off the stage if I showed up to play jazz with this thing. Or how about that hot Salsa band down the corner? They'd throw their congas at you if you trotted this thing out. Still, it would be fun to have around the house for jamming. Wow, though! Those percussion sounds are really sweet.

  • How is this for an absolute beginner? Does it help you build enough of the basics/foundation such that it translates halfway well to a real kit in a jam situation? I would imagine this would be about $150 used and a larger electronic kit (e.g. DTXPLORER based) might be about $300 used.

  • @thegovanment

I would recommend you purchase a DTXplorer because at least on that, the pads are bigger and have a better stick response than these. That's just my opinion, though...lol.

  • DO ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG HE PLAY ALONG TO? or is it just a song for this specific drum?

  • my dd55 had double bass kits...

  • i have the dd55 and i hate the flat buttons for your feet. if anyone knows some pedals that are compatible with the dd55 please tell me.

  • how good are the foot pedals compared to a real one?

  • @RockerArtist4Life The stock pedals feel NOTHING like the real thing..

  • me quedo con el dd 55 que opinan?

  • i have got the yamaha DD65 it is awsome !!

  • do electronic kits spoil your technique???

  • i must buy it :D

  • Thanks for the extensive review. I'm a beginning bass player, and see learning something about the drum parts as essential. There is a bass book "Bass Grooves: Develop Your Groove and Play Like the Pros in Any Style Book/CD" that gives a great tie in to drums, but you need a drum kit to use it effectively. So I got on Youtube to see demos of drum kits to decide what to buy. The DD65 looks like a great option.

  • I used to have the DD55, but returned it because of a pretty huge issue (to me at least). If I would play two sounds at the same time, it would occasionally cut out one of the sounds. It wouldn't do it all the time, but enough to make it a dealbreaker. It also did this with the floor model, so I know it wasn't just my particular kit. Does anyone know if the DD65 still does this? To me, it seems like it still does this - look at 5:19 in the video - 2 consecutive "non-sounds" from the snare

  • @choolan I just got the DD 65, and I notice that it still does that sometimes

  • @transparent101 Mine also mutes one of the sounds when two pads are hit at the same time, but i turned up the sensitivity of the pads and it doesnt happen as often now.

  • @studman4250 I tried to increase the sensitivity too, but when i do that, when i hit the snare, i can sometimes hear the floor tom..

  • Here's the answer I got back from an e-mail I sent to Yamaha recently regarding up-grading the pedals. Can anyone explain to me what exactly I need for the bass drum pedal because I do not know what they mean by "optional foot pedal" ?

The optional foot controllers for the DD65 are

    Hi-Hat Controller HH65

Kick Pad KP65 - Optional Foot Pedal is necessary when using the optional

    KP65..

  • ii also want to know the model of the pedals that you are using.. im happy with the kit but not the pedal.. its ok though but ii want to upgrade just like yours.. please tell me the model, thankyou.

  • plz som1 tell me how 2 make it a doulble bass :)

  • Thanks for the Demo, I brought my son this for christmas on the strength of this video. I would like to up-grade the foot pedals to the ones you are using. Will you please tell me the models of the pedals I need to buy and also the stand for the DD65. I am not a drummer so will you please explain things simply. Many thanks, Phil from the U.K.

  • I have the dd55 and I use the dd65 because a friend gave me one, but comparing, the upgrades of the new dd65 is not the big deal, the sounds are not so good especially the snare. the sounds of te dd55 and dd65 are exactly the same, Yamaha makes the same mistakes in both digital drums;Nice, make upgrades, but don´t forget the sound, believe me, the sounds are not good. Roland have a better sound...

  • I need help guys, I just ordered this from amazon, but it says on amazon yamaha DD 65 - K is this the same or is the yamaha DD 65 better? or the same? I heard there was a problem with one version or something?

    thanks

  • what is the exact name/model of the bass drum pedal upgrade that he used in this video?

  • does this do double bass?

  • Great demo. I think Santa will bring me one of these this year.

Why not make attachable "add-on" accessories that can be "plugged in" and attached , such as a 3 set of toms (for example) on its own mounting, that can be attached in order to "grow" the set... Seems like a profitable idea, right??

  • @rntonp finally somone understands me. Wat if somone cant afford a huge elcric set, if the can ge thic then they can upgrade it to be just as good

  • how much these go for?

  • hi

i got a yamaha dd 65... can i please know where can i get this package and how much /??

    the pedals and snares,,

    thanks..

  • @SaJAn061 I just made my own, check out my vid...;)

  • 55 dose do double bass. also as commented the pads didn't even work sometimes when struck with others. i would not upgrade my 55 to this!

  • Comment removed

  • It wouldn't be so bad if the snare pad worked every time you hit it. Not just works when it wants to.

  • @zackspoz Shows it's probably a piece of shit that will break quickly.

  • 6:00 WTF? Who would play that at a gig? I would. Meow!

  • Why is every one asking if you can use doubble bass when it blatently shows you him playing it and telling you how to do it?!

  • hahaha u missed ur left side beat at 6:45..thts the disadvantage of dd65..being small size pads.

  • hey mr, i am wonderin can we replace the sound of the snare etc? thanks. hey great video.

  • WOW! i love to play with hands....

  • GIG get a trapkat w/ dm10, thats a toy, just my oppinion.

  • But the sounds are the same as a Yamaha PSR keyboard.

  • dd55 does have a double bass option its kit 01

  • would this be good for just recording?

  • Yamaha are onto a great concept here, but i still think its not quite there yet.

  • You can also plug in a MIDI keyboard controller and play piano with the on-board 128 or so General MIDI (+ XG) voices - nifty!

  • I noticed some snare hits at 5.18 onwards did not trigger?

  • @candidcomment I think they just hit as side stick.

  • One of the best tips is the snare drum stand. There is no indication what so ever in the hand book for this. I bought an inexpensive solid snare stand it it works like a treat.

I suggest to upgrade to pedals. The simple step on triggers are just toys.

  • Looks like a neat thing...but i rather sit behind a real drumset then something like this xD dont get me wrong it looks fun.....but to have the better sound and feel you rather should throw in a little more money

  • epic drumming face xD

  • @baby13threligion- yes it is possible. try to press assign then step on the clapper then change it into # 3. then ull have double peds. :D

  • Hey i'm thinking about getting this. Can you change what drums are where? I would like my hi-hat on the other side and would like to have the pedals set up like double bass. Is that possible on here?

  • Yes, you can put any sound on any pad, anywhere. It's completely flexible and sounds amazingly good. Tons of fun for hours, esp w/ headphones.

  • i love how he doesnt even hit the drums...lol

  • hes got the beat

  • haha the best part is he knew every single kick in the demo track. yeah!

  • i think he meant "basically this is gonna be the SUCCESSOR and not PREDECESSOR."

  • I have a Yamaha DD-65 and its rubbish. I now have a Yamaha DTXPLORER which is LOADS better.

  • That snare sounds like when your humping a dog

  • I noticed sometimes the snare wouldnt sound.. I was thinking of getting this for giging on low-volume gigs... but that freaked me out

  • The snare pad on my DD-65 has EXACTLY the same problem. There is a 'dead' area on the pad that doesn't sound no matter how hard you hit it.

  • same with my DD-55 there is a dead area Did you buy it used? cause im thinking the people before pounded the crap put of it

  • @COPMMUSIC No, it was brand new. I've read its a common problem with the DD-65.

  • @Diamondblade2008 yeah, i have that problem, too. after a while, you know where to avoid. you just get used to it. i still love this kit so much.

  • @James24884 I still have the DD65 somewhere in my house gathering dust as I now use my DTXPLORER kit.

  • does it also sound like a real drum kit?or does it sound very synthetic?? looking for a as real sound as i can get without spending to much!! which is probably asking alot

  • is it good enough for recording,?

  • Nice that you can remap stuff.

  • using this for a gig?!?!?!

    are you kidding me?

that thing is a toy... not bad though...

  • It CAN be used in gigz. Just bring a midi i/o & laptop with an "EZ Drummer/Superior Drummer" software installed in it and your good to go~ So don't you call this a toy~..xD

  • by the time you've bought your self all those equipment, you could have easily bought a decent sounding drum kit...

  • this isnt a toy.

  • i got this for christmas its better then you would think =P

  • Three Words

    "ROLAND" AND "Johnny Rabb"

  • Great christmas present!

  • the pads are very rough on dd-55,i have one,and the sounds are great, but the pads are too hard-i cant achieve the bouncing effect with my sticks

  • This thing looks like a pretty good buy. Especially for someone who isn't sure about getting into a full electronic kit, or doesn't have the room for one.

The demo guy cracks me up with his rock faces when playing!

  • lol the guitar hero drum kit is about as good as this plus u get a game

  • No way the guitar hero or Rock Band setup is nearly as good: No internal sounds, no midi out, no pressure sensitivity. You couldn't use the Guitar Hero or Rock Band setup to do anything having to do with real music recording.

Plus I have seen folks use this as their Rock Band controller: and it allows you to get drum sounds that respond to your playing, whereas the game just plays the drum track for you if you are winning. This gives you real sounds and real interactivity, a great addition.

  • I want this drum kit for chrismas it will be good. im Addicted to drums and i aint gonna stop. Spud me if u agree.

  • XD yeah i want it for christmas too ^^

  • Can you use the expansion dk 65 expansion kit on the dd60 set?

  • DD55 will no longer exist!? but i have one, will it dissapear?!

  • @radiothax lol

  • @radiothax jajajajajaj

  • @radiothax Yes, into thin air. Its a marketing technique- due to you no longer having one you'll have to go buy this new one. you see?

  • yess....if you give it to me

  • Well well... screw the samples... as long as you can connect it to Midi, then you can use Software drums with good sounds, like Addictive drums,

but still... they look weird... there are some Roland Digital Drums that are better.

  • its like how you spell your words, you got a lot of possibilities but can you use it correctly. try to configure the drum with the sound you want, if you cant find it buy another product, anyway maybe youll never be happy with the things you purchase.

  • does any1 no where i can get one of these lacally in stead of the internet

  • @jseabo77 sam ash. DUH!

  • what's your problem dude, he plays awesome..that's what matters ¬¬ GR8 JOB

  • Omg LOL!

  • rofl

  • i just got that set,

yayz now my boobz can bounce too \o/

but seriously, its a good buy

  • where can you buy the upgrades?

  • goooood =)

  • I turned the pedals upside down and duct taped them to a large piece of cardboard. Now they stay in place and I can play the bass drum much more consistently.

  • hey can u tell me the difference and price between the yamaha dd-65 and the yamaha ydd-60

  • ydd comes is silver and black color while dd comes with silver only

  • ydd is about 150 dollars whereas dd65 is bit higher, think around 250...

  • same drum just better kit with stand, big pedals... thats why its more expensive.

  • Comment removed

  • I had a DD55 and it fit on a snare stand perfectly. The thing stopped working after a couple years, though.

  • If you connect and MP3 player, can you also isolate the rhythm set of the track playing, or is it only possible with the 100 built-in songs?

  • hey cool tutorial thanks

    I have the yamaha 65

it looks like a cool drums I think is very good for

standar people I think you dont need more

    thanks

    Cheers.

  • im going to add it on to my drum kit, more options.

  • upgrades suck because you have to pay more cash

  • haha the snare!! im happy with my dd-11!! nearly 20 years old and isnt too far behind. i always thought the DD series would turn into a proper drum workstation with a colour lcd screen and composing abilities.. but no we get a snare stand and a 3.5mm line in. its only good for people wanting "NEW" crap!.

Get an older model from ebay convert it into a I/O module (wich is CHEAP n EASY), make some triggers or add some piezos to your real drums then hook the midi to a V-Box or laptop. bobsurunK

  • im gonna buy this for practice and small spaced gigs. can i hook up any bass pad o it. i want to put the roland kd-8 on it.

  • big error there where he said on the dd55,only midi out...the dd55 has midi in and out,.sam ash....,sam ash.......c,mon......

  • xan you record it on the computer mac =?????

  • i have one!

  • i love it i just got one

  • hey can you record into the computer with one of these?

  • yup i think you can upload your beats and stuff but you have to buy the extra hookups somewhere

  • Alright, thank you very much.

  • your welcome

  • Yes, you can record if you plug a stereo cable from the output to your computer. If you got a Mac, you can use it with Garage Band.

  • DD-65 rule!

  • can also play double bass drum, that's great!

  • How much is this Drumset?

  • ohh my God...i wanna have the optional HH65 hi hat and the KP65 base..D;

  • Fat man is a pretty good percussionist

  • Can you adjust the pad sensitivity? It seems like the snare was missing a lot. Other than that it looks and sounds good.
