This song is such a classic; has anyone ever heard a song that reminded them of Wichita LIneman? Still, no one has ever come close to the original Glen Campbell version. And whether you like OC's version of this particular song or not, he is definitely one of the truly great singers.
This is absolutely horrible. I've been going through the various versions of this song on here and this may be the worst. I know OC was terrific, but as someone else mentioned, this is preposterously overproduced. It buries all of the feeling of the song.
What an idiot. Like there is a "correct" way to do any song. I suppose Elvis Presely's "big sound" songs, Suspicious Minds etc. are also "ruined" by overproduction and should really have been done like country & western. No? Why not? Because you are used to hearing them that way? Duh.
Agreed and I Luv "OC". the tempo is too fast, they get too far away from the melody, and the harmonic progressions,of this song that make it magical they kill that.the only chance for anybody takeing on this song other than Glen Campbell,is to do what they do inside the melody, and the harmonic progressions,if not they fuck the song up.
O God thank you. I searched and searched for this song on the net and could not find. This is my all time favorite song by O.C. Smith. It reminds me of my dad and the good ol' days. God bless you.
@Ptrgamb This is a very respectable cover. You must not have reviewed all of the covers if you find this to be the worst.

AWESOME version of this song!
Great video to boot! What a dedication to the overlooked folks who keep us plugged in. Never appreciated enough.
The visuals with Jimmy Webb's classic sung by the great O.C. Smith makes this required viewing.
