  • @V12Carlucci I got a 13.1...its in the video i posted. And yeah if i was a pro i might be able to squeeze another .2 sec outta it for a 12.9...but don't tell me i don't have much skill when you cant even get the time that i posted correct. Last i looked a 13.1 didnt qualify as "high 13's"

  • I have the twin STS system running 8lbs. Had to beef up the drive train a bit. Better head gaskets & valve springs too. 25k trouble free miles. It's easy to tune here in Florida. Sea Level, pretty consistent weather.

  • as with any race though....if you can drive it.....your gonna lose...unless its like a Z06 or something lol...that car is only as good as the drivers who pilots it down the strip....iv seen plenty of ppl who cant drive a GTO lay down low 14s at the track...and iv seen ppl who know their cars inside and out and post damn good time for the cars their driving...hell iv seen stock Mustang GTs whoop modded GTOs...it rlly is all about the driver....but i do know how to drive mine...and the vid shows

  • Are you freakin nuts! engine size does matter alot!. displacement and compression ratios make pwr. and if the engine is too big then it has more mechanical mass to move to wind up. its a balancing act. and that proves that engine size does matter. now u might also want to look at the gear ratios for the two cars. that would make a huge diffrence too. weight to pwr is there but in a stock car thats not ur first thoughs. since u bought it for the car not the wieght

  • actually i saw a couple runs of a factory gt500 vs a factory 6.0 l gto and the gto won everytime, not by much maybe half a car length but winning is winning and 25k car vs a 50k car... im gonna go with the goat

And was much faster all the way to top speed. Who cares if it's not american. Hell, that's a good thing, we can't build a car worth shit. And pretty sure the LS1 GTO can take more than 900 hp on stock block.

  • The GTO was planned to be discontinued after 3 years before production even started, tard. And who gives a shit where it was made. It was made by GM in their division in Australia... It's STILL GM. Whether the parts were produced there or here doesn't make a difference. Either way... both nice cars and a good run. I'd still take any LSx engine over anything else any day, though

  • Stock for stock the GTO loses, I've beaten them many times, and challenge you if you actually have a GTO. Your beloved GTO is an off Australian designed car that only sold a couple because there was no demand for them. GM was lucky to sell the ones they did, becasue they didn't have any other affordable V8 platform. The Retro roots are what makes the car it is. Your GTO isn't even a true GTO it's a Holden Monaro with a GTO badge. If you have a GTO and would like to race let me know!

  • i do, and just check my vids, if you dont believe me....and race what? a 300HP mustang GT...sure, lol anytime ...just letting you know though mine isnt stock anymore =P ...but dude, if your mustang GT is stock....dont waste your time...even if my GTO was still stock i have 100 more HP than you and only about 300lbs extra weight....not to mention i run the 4spd, which is faster than the 6 spd GTOs lol, but yeah, if you want im always up for a good run.

  • No, it's a 2006 Mustang GT. I don't need to front. Mods are so mild I can go stock at anytime. Sorry I don't have vids. My past experience of racing these turned out bad for the GTO. When dealing with mods anything is possible.

  • alright....ill give you a fair argument rather than the kind i usually give GTO bashers...lets look at some numbers and see what happens...cause unless you live near ATCO raceway i doubt we can race. GTO= 400HP& 400TQ and it weighs 3725lbs so lbs/HP ratio is 9.31...now the mustang GT is 300HP & 320TQ and it weighs 3356lbs so lbs/HP ratio is 11.18 . Now looking at these figues and given the fact that i have a wider tire for better traction and a 4spd...i think stock 4 stock GTO wins no problem.

  • As your number show "yes" it should out muscle the Mustang. But the problem the GTO faces is getting that power to the ground with that indi. rear end. Your car is 100 HP more than mine and a tad bit heavier as you stated, which is all correct, but you are also missing the fact that the mustang stk vs stk is only 2/10ths slower based upon reported specs. Now seriously ask yourself why isn't the GTO pulling off a better time?

  • alright...in my opinion its the long throw manual 6spd....its slows ppl down more than they think...but i have the 4spd....now please try to be honest...what is the best time you have ever cut in the Mustang completely stock....mine is a 13.1...i swear it on my life...and i have the vids. up to show it....and yes, i will say that launching it takes some practice, but once you know that car, its all good....took me about maybe 10 times down the track b4 i got it down and could do it consistently

  • but it does....simply look at my videos...but its tricky as a mother fucker to launch corretly....and trust me , if i can do it with only a few months of driving the thing, other ppl can do it too....its alll about familiarity...seriously just look at my videos, i have a 13.1 in a total stock 05 GTO

  • I hear ya, but my experience has gotten me past every GTO I have ran against. All I had was a tune. Maybe they were all shitty drivers, but thats my experience. Same falls with the new Camaro.  You have to give the 4.6 the credit it is due.

    I respect the GTO, but I don't like how GM slapped the GTO badging on the car with out referencing the history of the GTO. Regardless, the car is pre-bailout and is now a collectors car since Pontiac was let go. If your ever in Cali at Famoso hit me up!

  • Actually, look it up. The LS2 GTO's and the GT500's performance specs are identical. 4.6 sec. 0-60 and 12.9 sec 1/4 mi.

  • Don't know where you've been looking but at the race track i go to most of the Shelbys i see are running 12.2-12.3 stock and I have seen a few dip into the 11's with nothing more than a set of slicks.

  • gt500 goes for like 50k....gto is much cheaper!

  • The only reason the GT500 stickers for so much is because of the Shelby name on it. But you could compare the 03-04 Cobras with the GTO since they are in the same price range.

  • I am a mustang fan even though i don't agree with Ford putting the underpowered motors in them. The only way the mustang will start getting the respect that Ford deserves is if Ford will wake up and start building the Mustang to compete with the corvette in performance.   • Personal preference. Who gives a shit what it costs. I know which one I would pick and did... Let's see here. Since we want to keep on a level playing field. GT500 + 3.4L Whipple($3499) a new hood and paint, etc ($1,200). Loan the $15K to the GT500 owner high roller. He'll want to take a vacation due to excessive boredom waiting for you to catch up, that's if he ever lets off the gas.

  • right. but you must not forget... after all it still is a ford. therefore its going to be broke about 50% of the time. not from big stuff just all the little bullshit that ford decides to skimp on. we should take a step back and look @ ford mustang reliability..... every single person i know wwith a mustang hates that damn car after about 5 monthes. with the exception of a few terminator drivers but they dont care about the extremely loud rattling comming from every interior peice.

  • still dont see your point. 6.0L gto's can now be had for under $25k. so another 6k in addons.... MAN..... just makes the gm pushrod car seem more appealing. its sad that even the GOD LIKE SHELBY MUSTANG even makes the gto look light weight. ford super duper mustang..... looks a little weak to me.

    I worked @ ford up in fort myers when the GT500's firtst came out. first one went for 92k. second went for 80k and the rest on the lot where dealer mark up to 70k...... pretty sad.

  • wow funny to see all the arguments, it comes to looks and personal preference, lets see GTO has an independent rear, with 7k into the car like JETNITRO, you can have a Solid 10 second Goat, 10.93 isnt bad for H/C and gears, all N/A. Funny Ford is still using the space age live rear axle, oh wait thats horse carriage age...either way Yea I think the GT500 looks nice but who can live with that interior? for 60 whatever Id at least want some leather, GTO's got a better interior too!
