  • my demo gets played on regular rotation here in my home town.it's a song called "climb".

  • he lloooks like elton john

  • @nathan2rock He looks like he wear's one of Elton's wigs too.

  • Yeah, I love his guitar work. The solo at the end of "Since I Held You" still gives me chills when I hear it.

  • he looks like Elton John's twin Brother:p

  • I'm eating Doritos right now. *munch munch munch*

  • Thanks, Elliot, for all the years of joy and music you brought to us. Keep on rockin'! We still love you and The Cars!

  • i always thought elliot was technically great and versatile, if you were learning guitar back then you were playing cars tunes. excellent band and musicians. i liked the way he told about success not being what he thought it would be.

  • Elliot is a riot! We love Elliot at The FMansion!

  • Elliot is a great guitarist but a total endorsement whore! Check out his current endrosement at fenderdotcom where he says the telecaster is the only guitar he would ever need because he can get every sound he needs out of it. This is for the Telecaster's 60th anniversary promotion.

  • @Xcorgi But he's not really being a whore about it, he's just telling the truth! My main guit is a Tele and I'll testify that you can get any sound out of it, and it's also the most comfortable neck in the world.

  • @GuitarGuy5000000000 I agree with you about the Telecaster's neck and it's also a great guitar for many types of music. But the pickups don't really fall into the catagory MOST versatile. Also there is no whammy bar. This further limits your playing style. Now of course there are modified versions with bigsbys or hot rodded versions with high output double coils but never BOTH in the same guitar. I really like the tele myself but I believe the stratocaster falls into MOST versitle in contrast.

  • @Xcorgi Most would agree that the Strat is more versitile, but I just like how the Telecaster can take absue so well because of it's solid, simple frame, and stay in tune well because of the fixed bridge. It would greatly benifit from a contour at the top though, I always thought. I'm surprised that no one has made a Tele with a bigsby and strat pickup setup, now that would be something to play on!

  • One of the BEST guitarists in rock. Not just opinion---if you play guitar, you'll have respect. It's a given. :)

  • He seems like a really nice guy actually. Thought he would be too cool for school.

  • BENJAMIN ORR I LOVE YOU

  • he is way underrated.

  • That "Lloyd Christmas" haircut is the best.....

  • Elliot, your lead guitar solo in 'My best friend's girl' was truly a masterful performance. You've had many other great solo's, but your lead guitar work in this song was magnificent. I would rate it as of the top 5 lead guitar solo's of all time, right up there with George Harrison's solo in 'I saw her standing there'.

Thanks for many great songs and memories.

  • at least they dont gawk about ben on here, quite crazy

  • underated because hes very good..thats it..not great..there are very very few Great players...he is not on that very short list of maybe 7 or 8 players..

  • He was just LUCKY to stand next to Benjamin Orr on stage!!!!!!

  • @northernlitez1 What a truly stupid thing to say. You obviously know nothing about music to diminish Elliot Easton's contribution to the Cars. Gotta love the internet.

  • "gotta have the talent to back it up..."

True true, sadly today, it's nothing but over produced, corporate generated mousketeers shot through the hype machine.

  • He has the Elton John vibe going here a lil bit..dang hard to beleive I had a crush on him back in the day..lol But he is one of the best all time guitarists, very under-rated..

  • ken5244, i totally agree with you when you say he isn't the greatest guitar player ever. Either Eddie Van Halen or Tommy Emmanuel are the best.

  • Best guitarist ever. Heavily underrated.

  • He looks like Elton's brother here !!!!

  • Great pop leads! Some of the best! And a really nice and thoughtful guy to boot!

  • Some of the coolest . Great songs too. All around infectious and so kick ass. Great records. Killer all time band. No doubt. Be lucky to ever see a young band that good again.

  • Yeah I play righty but am left handed. I am one that decided to force myself to play right handed. It took many years to get my strumming hand to work. I do think that I would have been a better player or at least learned faster just doing it naturally with the left hand.

  • i am a lefty that decided early to play right handed it has kinda been a trade off of fretboard power for a perhaps sloppier pick hand. i wouldn't change it and elliot easton is one of my heroes for shure p.s. i play death metal!

  • I was telling the guy at my local music store that I was thinking about getting guitar lessons for my left-handed son, and that I guessed I'd have to buy him a lefty guitar, but he said "Oh no, just get him a righty and he'll be better off" Makes me wonder why, then, there are left-handed guitars at all....somebody plz enlighten me

  • Find another guitar teacher. Pushing a kid to play right handed when they're naturally lefty is as wrong as forcing them to write with their right hand. It'll only frustrate and confuse them in the end. I'm left handed and a guitar player. While I found that finding left handed guitars isn't as easy, I'm happy with the ones I do have.

  • yeah, that's what I thought too. i play a little bit and I was trying to imagine what it would be like for me to play lefty. I think it would be impossible for me. Thanks for the advice; I'll call around

  • Find him a decent lefty somewhere...If you ask around you'll find a nice guitar somewhere...good luck

  • Your local dealer doesn't have any in stock, huh? ;)

  • good point..........sounds like he was trying to unload existing stock rather than bring in what I actually needed

  • I don't know about rock guitar. I know classical instructors vehemently advocate right hand only since hands can be trained. But I don't agree with this.

  • SHIT NO!!! left handed gutarists are the best .

Jimi hendrix paul mc cartney, elliot easton.

tell the guy at the record store to go fist himself.

  • I throw right hand and bat left because I watched my left handed brother when I was young. He may be able to pull it off using both hands?

  • I always knew this guy was famous for being a left handed guitarist, never knew why..just found out he was one of the guitarists of the cars! =O I love the cars!

  • The best and lefthanded

  • Elliot is THE most underated guitarist of his generation... but most likely the most solvent! :)

  • Guy is very knowledgeable of music promotion.

  • Best guitarist ever. Thanks!

  • @TXGOLD2000

What an idiotic remark. The "best guitarist ever"? Really? Of all the accomplished, amazing guitarists who ever lived, Elliott Easton is the single best player ever? Uh huh. *rolls eyes*

Why are there so many idiots on YouTube posting hyperbole all the time? Get a life.

  • @Ken5244 oh shut up you uptight nerd. a month ago I ate at peter lugers steakhouse and said that was the "best steak ever". I know I possibly would find a steak better. its just an expression you weenie.

  • @known12

    Nice try, simpleton.

Your comparison fails because your "best steak ever" only relates to your own experience and is not measurable in any way other than your opinion. "Best guitarist ever," however, is ridiculous hyperbole about something not trivial -- unless you consider people who've dedicated their lives to musicianship to be trivial.

According to your rationale, one could say, ""the Clippers are the best basketball team ever" and you'd be cool with that. Right?

    Think hard.

  • @Ken5244 and his choice relates to his experience so far you lengthy posting weirdo. obviously he hasnt heard all the guitarists in the world either you lilly white spazzy internet nerd.

  • @known12

What are you, about 14 years old?

You're such a halfwit you don't even realize you just reinforced my point. As you yourself just said, "his choice relates to his experience." Therefore, it's not "just an expression," now is it?

Moreover, if someone "chose" the Clippers as the "best team ever" based on "their experience," does that make it so? Yes or no?

    Answer the question.

Don't do very well in school, do you? All that thinkin' is tough for 'ya, isn't it?

  • @Ken5244 I'm not going to keep spinning my wheels with you you hostile youtube dweeb believe what you want.

  • @known12

You're calling ME "hostile"? LOL You were the one who started this by calling me an "uptight nerd" and a "weenie." Look who's calling the kettle black. Don't dish it out if you can't take it, troll.

I notice you evaded -- twice -- my challenge re the Clippers being "the best basketball team ever." I wonder why that is ....

  • Elliot Easton is one of my favorite guitarist. I've seen The Cars live in early eighties and they were simply amazing.

  • He really is fab. I LOVE the performance of "Candy-O" in Houston, 1984.. Elliot kept that song sizzling.. very edgy and tension-filled. It is my favorite version of the song on youtube.
