  • Fatality!!!

  • shin kicks are strong, but they also hurt the user if checked with the knee or shin.

  • they make it sound like bas isnt a dutch kickboxer who used his kickboxing 'kicks' in mma and mma is totally different than kickboxing which is a part of mma... :/

  • Joe Rogan and Tom Segura.

  • hes dutch :D

  • I think the US prison system would save a lot of money getting Bas to execute people with that kick. I mean it seems like he could theoretically decapitate someone with it. If I was one death row and had the choice, I would take a Bas kick to enter the afterlife.

  • to bad theres no count in mma lol

  • wow that douche scientist would have believed it if He was the one getting kicked. well actually then he wouldnt be alive to see the results

  • thats not an mma kick, bas is just ridiculous

  • i have to say i am starting to like the trend of bass ruttenisims.

  • such horrible acting "we got some numbers and I'm sure i don't believe them" lol

  • Boxer vs Bas? I don't think so.

  • Bas had tendonitis towards the end of his career.

  • Bas should have kicked him in the LEEEVER.

  • The Crash Fighting System .... Is number one at taking your enemy down.

  • Bas is hilarious lol

  • the only guy on earth that can take on chuck norris

  • the numbers were over 9000 !!!!!!!!

  • I have no idea why they incorrectly called it an "MMA kick". MMA stands for MIXED martial arts. In other words, a combination of several fighting styles. Bas Rutten was a Muay Thai fighter before he got into MMA. So his kick is a Muay Thai kick.

  • @hondaciviccoupe10

MMA kicks are different in terms of stance and how the delivery of the kick is "tweaked" at the end. You'll notice that 1) Bas didn't execute a mini "hop" before his kick like most MT fighters do (He used his signature "step out" as prep instead) and 2) He didn't "cut" the kick downwards and sideways at the end, unlike "traditional" Muay Thai fighters e.g. Mel Menor. He kept it flat/"level" throughout.

Bas actually has his own fighting system on DVD. You should check it out.

  • @yuptydoo there is no such thing as a "MMA kick". People in MMA kick differently from person to person. I train in MMA, and i kick differently than my teachers, and other students.

    1) taditional muay thai fighters dont hop with kicks, they all use the "step out" prep.

2)"cut" kick, "angle" kick, and "round (flat and level throughout)" kick are ALL muay thai kicks.

Conclusion- Bas Rutten used a Muay thai kick.

  • @i

And that torso-loading he did at 1:37? Can you show me a single instance in which a Muay Thai fighter has broken stance to gyrate like a whirligig before letting fly like that?

With such a narrow selection of options you have in performing a rotating kick (it is after all, just slapping your leg on something) it takes minute modifications for the type of kick to become altered.

I used "MMA" (meaning "mixed", meaning "altered") for lack of a better adjective. Try "pseudo-Muay Thai" instead.

  • @yuptydoo well if you are refering to "altered", than yes; i see your point. It isnt a perfect muay thai kick, but niether is it an exclusive MMA (as in UFC/ mixed martial arts style) kick

  • @i

Who I personally hate are the martial arts "purists" who look down on MMA (not that you're one of them, obviously). I myself am a K-1 enthusiast, but I also acknowledge the fact that without ground game, even the most seasoned strikers become toast in the cage (e.g. Sefo, Saki, etc.)

However, if I ever called something "an exclusively MMA move", I should probably jump off a bridge in shame, because NOTHING in MMA is original: it's a Mecca of kickboxing, BJJ, TKD, Judo, boxing and wrestling.

  • That should not be called an MMA kick, it should be called a Bas Rutten kick.

  • Bas's kicks are off the charts! Danga da danga da dang lol

  • Actually, what they don't know is that Bas actually developed his own style of power kicking called the step out. Thats why he generated a high powered kick, because it was something he knew was stronger.

  • They are so stupid most MMA fighters use the Muay Thai style round house kick. Loyoto Machida is an exception.

  • @braincreep Agreed. That like havin cro cop on the show and not displaying his high roundhouse.

  • Come on! If you have Bass Freakin' Rutten on a show like this.....were is the damn punch to the liver?!!

  • @BrainCreep

    Close enough: /watch?v=C2JhhzYqaB8

  • @yuptydoo i've seen that one before. Ever see the pancrase fight where he destroys jason deluca's liver? The look on the guys face was priceless.

  • @BrainCreep

That asshole had it coming, getting Bas flagged for no reason.

My personal favorite is the KICK he took some Japanese guy out with: landed square on the right side, and the guy dropped like a marionette. He was wearing green gear, I think.

  • @yuptydoo is that the guy that got popped in the head, wiped his nose in shock and was too dazed to defend himself...that was he-freakin-larious!

  • why do they pronounce muay thai as mai tai

  • @ElectroRain82

That's the proper pronunciation. Same way how the Chinese "sh" is spelled "X".

  • I wish there was a Bas Rutten Jr. Go into the UFC and whoop some ASS!

  • They should have Joe Rogan do a spinning back kick.

  • 3:00, she's genuinely frightened.

  • THE MMA KICK, yeah these guys are geniuses

  • @Huhmasta the "mma" kick had a kickboxing style to it yes? im a mixed martial artist and i sense their ignorance also.

  • @turkeyboykillintyme well saying that bas rutten's kick is an MMA kick is ignorant because Bas is a second degree black belt in tae kwon do and has competed in Muay Thai

  • I cant believe these guys don't consider pound for pound force. Bas weighs at least 50 pounds more than that Muay thai guy. These results are rediculous in that you dont actually see a comparison between fighting styles, which is what they are insinuating

  • watch the skin flap on the face of that dummy curl up like a clowns dickie on SeBAStian's last kick, holy sheeeeat!3:16

  • wish I could kick like bass

  • @ozvantube Practice and you can.

  • lol Bas is so crazy.

  • bass > norris

  • i saw this. bas came out with the hardest punch!!!

  • bass doesnt kick like a mule mules kick like bass

  • @streetdreamz210 Sir, your comment inspiring on so many levels.

  • @streetdreamz210 Bas has the kind of kicking power mules have nightmares about.

  • I personally think Mirko CroCop's kick is probably DOUBLE Bas in power. I just don't get why Mirko was not selected for this test. CroCop needs to brag more. He has Brag rights in the Kick department. He's knocked out guys without even trying. Bas tries hard.

  • @cyberhmoob

Cro Cop's kicks are weaker. He couldn't do BODY kicks for shit, all his knockouts were to the HEAD. BAS has actually knocked out opponents by puncturing their livers/spleens. And he never started losing as randomly as Cro Cop did. He retired on an 8-win streak.

Trust me, Cro Cop should thank whatever Gods are out there that he never faced Bas (who reitred in '99). His career would have been over prematurely.

  • @yuptydoo Cro Cop was definitely famed for his kicks, head and body. He's had wins by body kicks so idk what you're referring to when you say his body kicks are shit.

  • these tests are retarded

  • Bas is a fucking beast. Wish he was still fighting

  • ufc kick hit harder

  • @qualy55 wtf are you talking about

  • @skatex95 the people who fight in ufc kick harder than mma fighters

  • @qualy55 UFC is a MMA company therefor all UFC fighters are MMA fighters. know what you are talking about before you make yourself sound like an idiot

  • @Voajus lol what? youre wrong, ufc kick is the best

  • @py2o3434 lmao you really are stupid or you are a troll.

go look up ufc, go look up mma. Dana White says its mma, if its not mma then tell me whats the difference. ufc follows the U.S. mma rules. all i am trying to do is inform you so you dont make yourself sound anymore stupid.

  • @Voajus ya okay i was trolling

  • @qualy55 What the fuck?

LIke Voajus said know what you are talking about before you start talking shit dumbass

  • This test was purely arbitrary, a muay thai kick is a mma kick, the power of the kick is determine by the individuals, so bas is obviously a bigger guy which makes his kick deliver higher numbers.

  • lol, bas actualy sounds nicer than when u see him killinh someone

  • which proves what I have always said.......Bas Rutten is FUCKING INSANE!!

  • Check out FIghtville on YouTube.

  • id rather ( CRASH) than get hit by Bas Rutten.........(=

  • Lulz, dumb scientist. At least know the basics of MMA if your going to make a program about it. That "MMA Kick," is a Muay Thai kick.

  • lol a mma kick

  • One of the biggest reason Bas kicks harder than the Muay Thai fighter is because he's much larger. Bigger people are naturally going to hit harder because they have more momentum.

  • @Floogy88 bingo.....also seems like the muay thai guy focuses more on digging in with several kicks and knees ...rather than loading up on one big kick

  • bas is throwing a muay kick. plain and simple. every1 kicks differently though. a jab is a jab but people can still throw it different, thats like saying if i throw a right hook a weird way, sum1 says well thats not a right hook, how would it not be, a hook is a hook. every1 throws punches and kicks differently but its still the type of kick that they learned from the art.

  • @babyface0514 how long would that x wwe cow wuss jbl last vs bas rutten before bas kicks the shit out of him? id udk jbl, type him up on youtube

  • @1992lance r u a stalker or sumthin. copying the same message n posting it on the videos i watch n post my comments on u fuckin freak get a life. ur a little kid, its past your bedtime

  • @babyface0514 im sorry man, i was just wanting some responses to that fight. im not doing that anymore.

  • well how F#$@in scientific... Lets give the MMA fighter a full wind up kick with a dummy thats pressed up against a immovable object. Then we can compare that data to a muay thai up-knee with no support holding the dummy in place. Then we show that data on some bullsh!t show and make bullsh!t people fell like they have just found an amazing discovery. gfys's.

  • @ProcrastiBrowser stfu. your simply pissed that bas got better numbers than the muay thai champion. they jus fucking proved it. and ur so ignorant your still refusing too accept the facts. u cant argue against proven facts. u sound like a complete dumbass. ur prob a muay thai fan n dont like mma. well give it up whiny ass bitch

  • @ProcrastiBrowser Umm when you watch the whole show, not just the clip on youtube, it was the muay thai champs CHOICE to use his knees, also up until bas the muay thai champ had put up the highest numbers of all the fighters there.

  • Bas Rutten 2012

  • Every Kick begins with 'K'

  • u dont fuck with bas :)

  • It's funny how the bitch dude says my Thai in tha vid lol

  • I never said I couldn't do them. I said it was hard at the beggining. It's not like doing 10 to 100 jumping jacks which I've done before. It's pretty much differnt. If you don't show a video of you doing them then.

  • I've been doing it easily have you even done it for 2 minutes without stopping at. You obviously didn't hear about my other training workouts.

  • Bas is the man second only to me!!!

  • In MMA we do alter our body. I had to do jumping jacks for 2 minutes straight without stopping, sounds easy until you do it. Jumprope 1 minute straight without stopping. The reason why randy catoure was able to punch harder on the ground then standing up is because we're told to put our weight in our punches plus in the full guard it's harder to get out of then it is as if you were getting conererd. Trust me I know.

  • Comment removed

  • @Spiderman7670 If you cant do jumping jacks for 2mins straight than your pretty pathetic thats not training thats a warm up.

  • Remember as I said before I take both MMA & Muay Thai. It all depends on how you train your. In Muay we're told kicl heavy bags at full force plus a light contact knee feels more cut like a kitchen knife plus we're told to breath everytime we punch or breath in & out because it slows down our heart rate meaning we can go at it longer.

  • This is surprisingly lenient on critical review compared to the more skeptical stance in other NatGeo shows like Is It Real?, which I enjoy......this show is a joke.

  • I train in MMA & Muay Thai. I use to take thier Karate program but I got tired of saying thier creeds . It's the same school for all of them.

  • They sould let all the fighters throw the same kick. It has to depend on the person. Not just mma style. Those fuckers just want to say mma has the hardest kick, but trust me it depends on the fighter.

  • I bet the crash test dummy was one of those who disliked this video...

  • Bas Ruten on gta4 LOL!

  • I enjoy Fight Science, and think it's a fantastically entertaining show.....if you can turn off your higher thinking functions while watching. The moment you give the show the slightest critical thought, it falls apart. Especially if you're an avid combat sport enthusiast.

  • Bas ruttens muay tai days were awesome. He would chop people down to size...Tiiiiiiiiiimber!

  • IF CROCOP WAS THERE HE WOULD SEPARATE THE HEAD FROM THE BODY

  • @djkhaled412 TRUE! LMAO

  • @djkhaled412 who knows what would happen if gabriel gonzaga kicked it then.

  • @djkhaled412 bas rutten defiantly kicks harder then cro cop. Bas rutten has more kick ko's then crocop.

  • @lilsm555 I'm not saying that Cro Cop kicks harder than Bas but Cro Cop definitely has more kick KO's than Rutten and that's an inarguable fact. You seriously have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @greatestxgift hm im not sure of that 90% of bas ruttens fights have ended in KO he had like 15 or 16 kick boxing bouts thats not even counting mma or pancreas.

  • @lilsm555 Cro Cop has had a lot more kick boxing bouts than Bas has. Also, in MMA, Bas didn't have anywhere near a 90 percent KO rate (not even half that rate) and didn't have as many kick KO's as Cro Cop so what exactly are you talking about?

  • @greatestxgift Bas fought for significantly less time than Cro Cop professionally. To compare them is retarded.

  • @Ligierthegreensun That was my point if you were reading what I was replying to. Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, eh?

  • @greatestxgift Yeah, except for when you were.. you know, comparing them. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're not the sharpest tool in the shed.

  • @Ligierthegreensun I stated, very clearly, that I not making any comparisons about who kicks harder or who is the better striker/fighter. I simply replied to someone else making the comment about Cro Cop having more kick KO's than Bas Rutten. What I stated was simply a fact not opinion. Are you seriously not bright enough to comprehend that?

  • @greatestxgift So wait, you're not comparing them, you're just espousing that Bas had less KO's than cro cop, and less by knockout, but you're not comparing. Are you an idiot or ... what?

  • @Ligierthegreensun Wow, are you seriously this dense? Let me map this out for you: Another clueless kid, like you, was making the incorrect statement that Bas has more kick KO's than Cro Cop. I simply corrected him without making any judgements about who is the better kicker/fighter. When I was simply correcting the idiot who actually WAS comparing who is better, you irrelevantly decide to reply to me saying that comparing the two is "retarded" when I was just correcting him...?

  • @greatestxgift Holy shit, you cannot be this idiotic. So, you claim you're not comparing them, yet you are citing the record of cro cop and the record of Bas. So another dumb jit like you made a statement that was incorrect, and your apparent response to understanding that the two could not be compared is to cite their records and say you're not comparing them. Please tell me this is what you're saying, because I haven't had a good laugh at the expense of a halfwit today.

  • @Ligierthegreensun You are seriously more idiotic than I could ever imagine. If you're correcting someone who inaccurately states that one fighter has more kick KO's than another, how else do you prove that their statement is incorrect if you don't compare how many kick KO's each fighter has...? How is it "retarded" to correct someone who made a false statement by citing actual facts about the two fighters and how many kick KO's each had? Do you realize how stupid you are seriously coming of as?

  • @greatestxgift Thank you, I've now had my laugh. Are you seriously sitting there telling me that you are not comparing by citing. When did I say you weren't correcting them, idiot? Oh yeah, never. I said that you're comparing them, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE doing. Do you know the definition of words you use? Again, this is amazing how much of a moron you are.

  • @Ligierthegreensun There's no way you're seriously this dense...is it? Why is it "retarded" to correct someone who is perpetuating misinformation on public forums? That was originally what you replied to me regarding...so how is it "retarded" to compare stats from two fighters to make a point about why someone is incorrect about a false statement they made?

  • @Ligierthegreensun I never said I wasn't comparing each fighter's record and stats, I only stated that I wasn't comparing which fighter is better in anway. I was only comparing their stats to correct someone who was making false statements. Are you seriously lacking basic reading comprehension skills to where you can't understand that? Is that too complicated for your feeble mind to grasp?

  • @greatestxgift Evidently you do not understand the definition of "comparing", and as such, I'm not surprised that you were dumb enough to state that contrasting two fighter's records together wasn't comparing them.

  • @Ligierthegreensun I know it's been hard for you to stay with this conversation but I never said I wasn't comparing the two fighter's records and stats, I said, specifically, that I wasn't comparing which fighter was better in anyway. You still haven't my question: Why is it "retarded" to compare stats from two fighters to make a point about why someone is incorrect about a false statement they made regarding those stats? Either way, it's been hilarious making you look like a fool.

  • @Ligierthegreensun So, basically I'm "retarded" for correcting an idiot from perpetuating misinformation on public forums...? I didn't bring up any discussion about comparing the two and made it clear that I wasn't making any judgement about who is better..the other kid did and I, one more time, simply corrected him. You make absolutely no sense and you look like a complete fool who lacks elementary reading comprehension.

  • @djkhaled412 hell bas rutten would slap people to sleep.

  • @djkhaled412 They couldnt afford a new dummy thats why he wasnt there lol

  • @djkhaled412 The objective was not to kick the head if you even watched the video, and crocop can suck bas fucking dick man get outta here

  • @Natefrost09 how long would suge last vs bas rutten? jbl? udk suge knight or jbl? type either in

  • and the good looks too..

    lol he knows it

  • lol this is BULLSHIT

  • so they take one of the best kickers ever in mma and make him a standard? wasn't bas rutten muai thai before pancrase anyways?

  • yea their stupid, muay thai kick and mma kick

however, that TKD guy threw a beautiful back kick.... -jealous-

  • what is the fighting style from 0:02 - 0:05? i cant think of the name

  • @poppinfresh38 The spinning back kick that was performed by a Taekwondo World Champion named Bren Foster. @0:05 that Muay Thai guy is Mel Menor

  • So the results are in; I would rather be in a car accident than get kicked in the chest (or anywhere else for that matter) by Bas.

  • @phonebook45 ESPECIALLY the liver :) Those kicks end fights.

  • HAHA what makes me laugh is he stopped fighting because he doesnt have any cartilage in he legs/knees anymore . This was made after he finished fighting so imagine if he was in his prime.

Also Randy said he kicks like a mule.... i thought it was that mules kick like Bas Rutten.

  • i would like to see a comparison between his and cro cop's kicks

  • how many newtons of force is that?

  • lol. stupid test. All the other fighters are like ants compared to bas rutten's size. This show's conclusion is half right: MMA kicks, based on Muay thai kicks, are more effective. But this is Bas Rutten. It's like being shot with a rocket launcher after being shot with a 9mm handgun...

  • @punkmusicmetal he's only 6'1, 205, he just looks big in a lot of clips, hes the same size as rampage jackson, maybe a little bigger

  • @TWBouska Okay, so meaning what... ? he's still bigger than all of those guys there.

  • @punkmusicmetal my point is that hes not even a heavyweight, i would like to see if cro cop or somebody else kicks harder..but i guess 6'1 205 isnt big to me either because its smaller than i am..i think thats why its amazing to me, because he kicks that hard but is smaller than i am by 3 inches and 25 pounds

  • @TWBouska Size doesn't matter as much as technique. I weigh 145 pounds and kick harder than some of the heavyweights I train with. Not saying I wouldn't kick even harder if I weighed as much as a heavyweight fighter, but Bas Rutten has some of the hardest kicks in MMA because he has the best technique and he's also a bigger guy.

  • @Kevzilla123 i definitely won't debate that with you, my whole point in my comment was basically trying to say the same thing that you just said, that basically he's not the biggest fighter out there, so there's more to power than sheer mass, i mentioned cro cop because he is also a monster when it comes to kicking power.

  • @TWBouska Ya, definitely true. It's a shame that when a lot of people train, they're misled into building more bulk muscle to strike harder instead of focusing on technique. Cro Cop or Liddell would be monsters at this test too, because their technique is just so good.

  • @Kevzilla123 yeah i would like to see a test similar to this with striking...i have a feeling liddell would do well at this test, although not sure how much, i think he catches a lot of guys off guard because of his kenpo style being a little unorthodox

  • @TWBouska That's true. I'm not sure exactly how much power he puts behind a lot of his strikes because of that. It might just be that he knows exactly where and when to strike better than most pros. Cro Cop's definitely a powerful kicker though. For punching power, I'd like to see Cain Velasquez on that test. His boxing is lethal.

  • @Kevzilla123 cro cops kicks sound like gun shots when they hit...ive never seen anything like that before...cain hits like a truck..rampage hits pretty hard too.

  • @TWBouska Yea, his kicks sound really loud when they hit. Cain makes those death grunts when he punches though, so that might muffle the sound of the strike a little lol

  • @TWBouska Yeah, thats huge.

  • styles dont kick people do

  • Bas Rutten IS HIS OWN FIGHTING STYLE. EL GUAPO STYLE.

  • Bas Rutten is a monster. He should have a class of his own. That kick is almost twice as devastating as the average MMA fighters kick. His punches are equally as brutal.

  • I love the science behind this but there is a fatal flaw from jump. You do not have an accurate base line. The trouble is..no two fighters are alike. Taking a master of it like Bas Rutten or Randy Coutoure is not the same as say an average mma fighter. So if every man is different you only have what that specific person can generate not what a group as a whole can. So saying...how does mma measure up against muay thai? is a broad generalization.

  • @DarkGallahad there all master so they are comparing fighting styles. but fr some reason they consider mma a style? haha its a sport not a style

  • @Dookiebutt47 I agree.

  • what's scary is that he said he got angry and his second kick ended up being even more powerful than the first

  • to me Cro Cop and bas rutten has the best Roundhouses in the whole MMA i never seen someone with better.

  • if he didnt believe the initial numbers why didnt he just take the crash dummys place? lol

  • @subaruracer107 Best comment!

  • Actually this IS an mma kick, Thai fighters step then pivot on the ball of the foot.

Bas designed this kick especially for MMA (pride mostly) where you just explode into the kick with your hips eliminating the pivot. Cro Cop and Bas both use this technique and look how much more effective it is.

  • @DJDdph Excuse me Pancrase for Bas Cro Cop Pride

  • @DJDdph cro cop and bas also have bazookas for legs

  • so basicaly getting kicked in teh chest by bas is like getting hit by a truck nice lol

  • More UFC Nut sucking, they fail to mention that Bas weighs almost 70+ lbs more than the Muay Thai champion....Lets get George Foreman to hit one of those dummies, he will get higher numbers than them all...

  • Now imagine if it was Cro Cop.

  • please stop digging :'(

  • smartes comments so far fuck ya haha there so many stronger kicks then mma kicks thats just a sport mustang501982 and othello133 maidanac keep it up

  • Melchor is like 135lbs and Bas is probably over 200lbs.Why would they compare the two? MMA kick... pfffft!!

  • Bas is very well known for his kick strength. He takes down very large men with a couple of leg kicks. It has less to do with his size and more with his incredibly explosive technique. His non kicking foot turns, loading the waist. All that potential energy is released like a cannon firing and Bas concentrates it into his shin.

  • Well yeah this dude is way bigger than the Muay Thai fighter
