I like most of your ideas...I'm not crazy for the racial problems in the actual movie--those aren't the main problem, although Katara and Sokka in the movie were way to light. And Zuko was just horrible.

No, I think the main problem with the movie was that the director never saw the series. Where were Sokka's jokes? And Iroh's funness? And Katara's grown-up speeches? And Aang's happy-go-lucky attitude? That was my problem...

I think if Noah Ringer had a few acting lessons and the director maybe changed the fact that Aang was so depressed looking all the time, he would be perfect for the role. The casting seemed to be the main problem for most people which I can understand because a lot of the characters didn't match the cartoon version at all especially the fire nation peeps but as far as race goes I think people are just going to have to let it go to some degree.

In anime, when a non-asian person is drawn, they have large eyes (Aang). Those with normal eyes--fire nation and almost all Earth Kingdom--are meant to be depicted as asian.
