I think its possible that Yachiru is as strong or stronger than Kenpachi. Look at 2:19-2:21.............Kenny is 7 foot+ and 300 lbs easy and Yachiru is helping him stand up. Kenpachi came along and killed all the people who had been ignoring and treating her badly but spared her life because she wasn't afraid of him. He had a soft spot for her and let her travel with him. He most likely trained her some to become as strong as she is. She is supposedly stronger than at least half the captains.

Kenpachi has beaten everyone with just his massive spiritual pressure but his sword isn't empty. He said it was but he was wrong, he just didn't take the time to work with his sword and learn it's name because he never needed to. All Zanpakuto have a "soul" that's what makes them different from regular swords.
