@MCSCommander No, gays are humans. If you were an actual Christian you would've actually listened to what that nice Jesus fellow said about striving to love other people despite their traits rather than rejecting them.
Please consider that the next time you let fly with a slur like that because you've just destroyed the basic gist of Christianity and destroyed even more of its credibility as a loving religion.
disagree. My wife and I are atheists, and had to get married (eloped) in order to get covered under health insurance. So, marriage is not religious, but has civil implications, social security is another benefit of marriage.
But, its sad that there is so much prejudice sponsered by religious groups...
He's basically telling gay people how the can get "marriage" rights without having to fight the evangelicals over it, CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE!
Anyone should be able to join in a voluntary union and gain the rights that entails BUT if you want to have a religious ceremony that is up to the churches.
If marriage is religious... why do the way we pay taxes change when we marry someone? I feel one can no longer say, in this 21st century, that marriage should be looked upon as solely religious. It has become a custom and tradition more than religious ceremony due to all the federal ploys and responsibilities that come with.
@BohemianBlasphemy No chance? Stop watching fox and CNN buddy. If you truly listened to him, you'd be saying the opposite. I'm so glad this guy has a chance. He is the only truly wise man out of all of those candidates. Who cares two gay guys want to get married? Let them. They're not affecting you. As long as they're not outside your home screaming "WE WANT ATTENTION! AND MORE RIGHTS! AND MARRIAGE!" let them be fags and do what it is that they do.
@sek3ymisek3ymi im not totally religious (i would consider myself as more of an agnostic-christian), but i dont see why gays are so intent on imposing on the christian religious ceremony.
@sek3ymisek3ymi So you are saying that no gays want to get married for love but strictly for legal reasons? Perhaps you don't have any "life partner" that loves you. And if it has nothing to do with religion, why then do they have gay (non-Christian)priests perform the ceremony? Besides you're missing the point, Dr.Paul implied the government should have no say so over who can get married and should stay out of it. You are a fool.
@psovegeta no gays want the rights of married couples, they are already in love. they want the right to visit each other when sick and the normal rights held by a married couple, its more of a legal issue then religious. people can be married by a judge or a priest who cares...ron paul has his head up his ass on most issues, he doesnt care about freedom or civil rights, he just doesnt want the federal government telling anybody what to do. while that sounds nice, its stupid.
@sek3ymisek3ymi If gays didn't want to get married, you wouldn't have pro-gay organizations fighting for the right to get married. Also Ron Paul's voting record proves his commitment to protecting the constitution. He's the number one defender of your rights, if he didn't care at all he wouldn't be able to claim to be as constitutional as he is. But I conclude that no body could be as stupid as you pretend to be, obvious troll is obvious.
@Rhuarc224 Marriage is not just a Christian ceremony. Marriage is something that has been practiced in many different cultures and religions throughout history. Also, gay people wanting to marry does not infringe upon the marriages between straight couples in any way. Gay people (in general) do not want to impose on someone else's version of marriage, however they do want the same freedoms given to other couples who marry. And they don't see why their unions would require a different name.
@Rhuarc224 Especially considering that people of religions other than Christianity are allowed marriage. With the same title, benefits, and respect of any other marriage. Also, I feel that it is fair to point out that there ARE gay Christians.
Plastic surgery in women, duck lips, super-tanned men, and lots of other things "creep me out," but I respect their right to live their lives how they like. It's kind of silly to think that bigots try to use the government to enforce their emotional reaction to lifestyles at all.
And then those same people turn around and complain that the government controls too much of people's lives. At least gun control and anti-pedo laws save children, with all due respect, it's idiotic to oppress gays.
The Amendment to the Constitution to appose gay marriage makes about as much sense when the tried to amend the constitution to make black people 3/5ths of a person. A cheap way to try to remove rights from a class of people while still trying to seem 'tolerant'. Absolutely pathetic.
Relgious people: focus your efforts on keeping the clergy away from the altar boys instead of worrying about whether two dudes or two gals decide to tie the knot!
There are more important issues our country is facing. Leaving divisive issues such as this one to the states is really the most sensible solution. Every state has a different opinion of gay marriage. In the south we tend to oppose it while other places embrace it. Allow the states to reflect the views of their citizens.
Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
@NationalPro Man wrote the bible, man sins. Sixty plus books missing from the bible because the powers that were made so, and used whatever they wanted in the bible to gain more power. God loves everyone, and I say that verse is complete horse shit. I'm in the least bit homosexual, but I don't think God hates them or is sending them too hell for being gay. He loves them just like he does me and you. Fuck off with your hate.
OMG! That is the first response I have ever heard on that subject that made total sense! Straight to the point and simple. This man can not be taken down. He has a true belief in the freedom of americans and the constitution. He does not falter. No matter your views on gay marriage, IT IS NOT for the government to decide!
@famileri Homophobic and racist. How would you feel if you were black or gay? Constantly getting bashed by people like you. Unfortunately? My Ass. You spelt Unfortunately wrong anyway.
@TheErichAlex If I was boen Black I would live with it. But I couldnt be born gay because you are not gay from birth. You have something wrong with your mind and you choose to be gay. you black poofta !

@classicguy2011 dude, Primary's in florida are in a couple of days. All these video are making me not vote for ron paul. People like you are also making me not vote for ron Paul.
Im either voting For Ron Paul Or Rick Santorum.
Cause Ron Paul is for Legalizing Weed and Gay Marriage which i dont like. Rick Santorum is not.
Choices choices. Who should i vote for. I should vote for santorum sense you called me ignorant
@luisrock2008 Ignorance is simply a lack of knowledge man, no need to make your presidential vote decision based off of what I said lol. I'm sure the legalization of gay marriage or weed doesn't affect you, therefore your lack of understanding how these issues affect others is ignorant.
@classicguy2011 So Ron Paul doesnt think marriage is between a man and a women. Cause primaries are coming up and i need to be informed on these 4 candidates so i can vote. Im either voting for Ron Paul or Rick Santorum.
But rick santorum is against gay marriage and weed. My kind of guy. Who should i vote for i dont want to be ignorant I need to be informed
@luisrock2008 Ron Paul doesn't want to legalize gay marriage or weed, he just wants to leave that decision up to individual states. But can I ask you a question? Why are you so oppose to the legalization of gay marriage? I understand that weed is a health hazard (although cigarettes and alcohol are as well), how does gay marriage affect you?
@classicguy2011 Im against Gay Marriage because if my state legalizes gay marriage more gays are going to come to my state and my children are going to see the gay stuff they do and might follow.
Child see child do.
Anyways. Sense he is not for legalization of weed or gay marriage he has my vote.
Ron Paul 2012
FL PRIMARY SOON (WOOT) IM VOTING FOR RON PAUL IN THESE PRIMARIES. WOOT.
@luisrock2008 Oh no, you have kids???? That's very unfortunate. Homosexuality is not a learned behavior, but I'm sure you'd never get it so I'll stop before I get ahead of myself.
@classicguy2011 Thats it smart mouth, Im voting for Rick Santorum now. You will see voteon tv, you will see. Cause im pretty sure you called me dumb, for supporting Ron Paul.
So am i dumb now for voting for Rick Santorum. Jerk.
@luisrock2008 I think it's apparent that you aren't "dumb" because you are voting for Rick Santorum, but basing your vote off of someone from the internet that you don't even know. Please, educate yourself buddy.
@classicguy2011 Oh, Well i was going to vote for Ron Paul because he was all over the internet, and he did very well on the last debate. But in that case
@luisrock2008 People are born gay, or lesbian; so if your kids become gay, they've been like that; and you shouldn't care whether they were or weren't, you love your kids unconditionally or you probably shouldn't have them in the first place. /Fallacious argument destroyed
Multiple American Medical, Sociological, Psychological organizations have done studies and agree with this fact.
Americans are idiotic sheep. Mentioning an worthless debate if two sissies getting married. Obuma signed NDAA bill to enforced Martial Law. Damn fools! There WAY more imporant things to worry of: Food Shortages, Currency of money is valueless as toilet paper, govt corruption. Fags/lesbos getting married is pettyness
@UltraDOG17 i agree with what you said.. but don't ever use offensive names for a group of people. life is short.. too short to be hateful towards others.
Religion? of the three candidates whom "god" told to run (bachmann, cain, perry), 0 are still in the race. So i think God forgot to tell people who to vote for.
when i see two dudes together it bothers me and makes my spine shiver but i still think that gays should be able to get married its there choice i dont care what they do.
@Xiethetuber Being called a fag isn't nearly as bad as being denied equal rights.
You can call Bill Cosby the n-word, and you're still worth only one thousandth of Cosby's fortune. You're not fit to shine Cosby's Italian leather shoes.
Only those truly inferior (like you) are afraid of equality. Guess what? It's coming anyway. Get some advice from your grand daddy, to see how he handled the end of segregation. I bet he survived it. You can safely toss out those white hooded sheets, too!
I agree that the government shouldn't try to regulate marriage, or recognize it by affording married couples special privileges to them. It's unfair to unmarried people (regardless of sexual orientation). If marriage wasn't legally recognized, gay marriage is not an issue. I know this isn't exactly what he said, but his point is similar. There is no reason to impose a constitutional ban. I would argue that that would violate separation of church and state.
@jakolu: I agree. Want to know one of the best perks of being a Bisexual Trans? Winning the marriage war either way. I live and present as a woman. If they go by my assigned sex, then they're promoting Gay marriage. If they go by my new sex, then they're promoting Trans marriage.
Good times are to be had asking them who they want me to marry. ^_^
A NON ISSUE FOR ALL AMERICANS. OUR FREEDOM COMES FIRST...WHICH THE REPU-PUKAN AND THE DEMO-SHIT ARE TAKING AWAY FROM ALL AMERICANS. EITHER RON PAUL OR SLAVERY, AMERICANS MAKE YOUR CHOICE NOW.
IF YOU ARE A RON PAUL SUPPORTER ATTENTION!!! ON 4TH OF JULY WE SHOULD ALL MARCH TO OUR CITY HALLS DOWNTOWNS OF OUR CITYS AND TOWNS LIKE THE MARCHES THAT MEXICANS HAD FOR IMMIGRITAION!! REMEBER HOW MUCH PUBLICITY THEY GOT?! IF MAINSTREAM MEDIA WANTS TO DENY HIM OF PUBLICITY AND TV TIME WE SHOULD GIVE IT TO HIM WITH A PEACEFUL MARCH AND A REMINDER OF WHAT MADE THIS COUNTRY GREAT THE FREEEDOM TO DI THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE,,, VIVA RON PAUL AND THE REVOLUTION!!!!
Marriage seems like it would be more of a burden anyway. If people want to get married it should be their choice even though it might not be a very smart one. I always think back to the old "ball n chain" scenario and know that if I ever get tied down, it's going to be close to that in both the literal and figurative sense.
Besides, what defines love? It's not some piece of paper legally binding two individuals, it's matters of the heart that it ultimately comes down to
i can only see one flaw with ron paul and that is his age. he's just to old dammit. i still support and plan on voting for him but seriously his age is the only negative. hopefully his son will run for president in 8 years after ron paul finishes his term
He wasn't saying in general marriage is a religious act. If you listen closely he says that HE views it as a religious act. He is not forcing his views on the public, merely stating his own personal beliefs. Ron Paul is a very conservative, Christian man. However, he recognizes that it is his personal choice, his freedom. And the government has no right to take that away from him, just as in gay marriage.
Marriage is defined as between a man and a woman. Those of us whom cherish marriage for what it truely is dont want it shared with homosexual couples.
@awatkins249108 no, you're an idiot. Im married and this is the country that I would like to raise my kids in. A God fearing, arms bearing, free nation where we are not being oppressed by the government, which is what this country was built and founded on. And if anybody doesnt like it then move to canada or suck it the fuck up. Why are you so stupid?
@goodinsrt8 I could care less about your pussy ass bitch ass marriage with your fucked up punk ass children and you bull shit beliefs. THIS IS AMERICA, people have the freedom to do whatever they believe in, who are you to decide? they are harming NO ONE. why don't you, your family, and your kids jump off the fucking cliff because this is america, and you way isn't the only way.
@awatkins249108 The majority are unfortunaly people like you(ignorant). They know nothing about history and values. You can't even carry on an inteligent conversation, saying that my kids should jump off a cliff? You are a coward and a sad human being who hides behind the keyboard and has never and will never contribute to this country.
@goodinsrt8 its because when you are an oppressed people, youll understand how it feels, and as a gay American, i feel total lack of respect for anyone who is against gay marriage.
you better fucking capitalize the A in America bitch. why dont you gtfo with your shit, your just a sad little faggot who loves cock so much. yeah, your not fooling anyone over the internet, with my supperior ki sensing abilities i can sense your faggotry through my pc monitor. go shove that shit stained dildo back up your ass and ask your Canadian man lover for some more cock to suck.
@kingofthe40oz Is this a joke? Do people like you really still exist? I thought barbarians were wiped out after humans began building civilizations....
@kingofthe40oz So wait, your claim to be American, and yet you are against letting homosexuals have the freedom to be married? Who the fuck raised you?
@goodinsrt8 that goes for you too, and yes, your children should jump off a cliff, because if i were to be raised by someone like you, thats exactly what i would do. What kind of American doesn't believe that others shouldn't have your freedoms because they are different than you, you sir are fucked up. kill yourself.
@awatkins249108 Go back to school and read how this country was formed. Here, ill even give you a study guide: What group of people built this country, why they built this country, and how they built this country. Now go study those three things and report back to me when you have learned the material, remember to study hard because you will be graded.
@goodinsrt8 You are the epitome of a close-minded, ignorant, selfish, hypocritical, sorry excuse for a human being. I can't believe people actually think like this. I could not care less about who built what or why. What this country is or should be is the land of the free, you can not possibly hope to deny people their freedoms forever can you? If you do, you are just as stupid as the fucking racists who didn't want people like me drinking from the same fountain as them. You disgust me.
@awatkins249108 if you could care less about American history then you should not be allowed to vote. Voting should be reserved for people like Senator Paul and myself who have served and care about this country.
@goodinsrt8 I love how you completely ignore all my other points that I have made. You read what i have said, and you decided the best way to keep this argument going is by twisting my words by saying i could "care less about American history". Thats your best shot? Just stop, your done. (now referring back to gay marriage) Please, go back to elementary school and learn the difference between right and wrong. Or be my guest and pull another bullshit response out of your ass.
@awatkins249108 you said yourself that you dont care about American history. I did learn the difference between right and wrong, you should. How were you did your mother get pregnant? with another woman? Did you dad have sex with another man? Please tell me.
@goodinsrt8 And furthermore, what did gays ever do to you? All you do is put us down. How do you feel about yourself? Are you proud that you are the evil that will destroy this country that was built on freedom? Are you proud that an entire culture of people are scared shitless about living in this country? Do you think it is a CHOICE to live in complete and utter FEAR and DISCRIMINATION by a country that is supposed to represent free will?
@loreizzle395 What entire culture of people are scared, im lost on that one? And I believe that gays and lesbians should have rights, but not the same rights as a married couple. And this country was built on freedom from the catholic church buy protestants, dont get it twisted. And as to how do I feel about myself, I feel proud that I actually payed attention to the history books.
@loreizzle395 because you are immoral and unpatriotic. Go to work, make money, live happy lives but stay out of the progression of this particular country before it all ends up like california.
Ron Paul was really off the mark on this one. Marriage has nothing to do with religion, people have secular weddings every single day.
I do agree that the state shouldn't be involved in marriage. If you want to get married, go say some vows to one another, throw some confetti, and call each other husband and wife (or husband and husband) -- nobody else needs to recognize your marriage other than you two.
But as long as the state is involved, we shouldn't discriminate. Legalize it.
@USAEVANTOLICO ron paul is a libertarian, which basically means that he follows mostly conservative policies when it comes to the economy and more liberal policies when it comes to individual liberties.
@USAEVANTOLICO libertarians and liberals hold completely different ideologies. libertarians believe the government should stay away from the economy, for example, while liberals would like to see it more involved. libertarians also push states' rights with regards to education, while liberals do not. those are just a few of the many differences between the parties.
everything else you said is wrong as well, but thats another topic for another day
@USAEVANTOLICO i think youre missing the point im trying to get at. ron paul cannot be considered what we think of as liberal, nor can he be considered what we think of as conservative. many people see politics as only a spectrum with a left and right, but you can also picture it as a grid with an x and y axis: issues involving civil liberties going left and right, and issues involving economics going up and down. ron paul would not fall into the same quadrant as either democrats or republicans
@timmay301 If you're an atheist then you shouldn't want to get married, just like you shouldn't want to celebrate Christmas. These are religious ideas...
@wwerulestna well, i want to get married, because there are certain arrangements. like when i die i want my wife to get my stuff. And i like celebrating xmas even though i think jesus was just a carpenter who talked a lot. So atheists enjoy xmas and marriage too..
@timmay301 It's called a will...and Christmas is a religious holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus, so you celebrating it makes no sense and is completely hypocritical and selfish.
@wwerulestna there's more to it than that. My parents are atheists, and every christmas, the family would get together, celebrate, the children some of them would believe in Santa, we'd all have a good time. That's hypocritical because we don't believe in God? Selfish? Who are we hurting?
@timmay301 imo marriage for atheists is more of a symbolic gesture of love, i think an atheist marriage can be even more meaningful than a religious marriage in the way that the couple doesn't stay together because of some divine influence, but because of their affection towards each other. not that i think religious marriages are weak, in fact i think religion can make marriage stronger, but i cant help but wonder if some people stay together because of the bible, and not love.
@timmay301 by going to the courthouse and signing on the dotted line just like a gay person can (or should be able to). For most people however marriage IS a religious ceremony, as evidenced by the fact that it is a priest, rabbi or what have you that imparts a blessing and pronounces the happy couple man and wife...so if your religion wont marry you because you are gay that is an issue between you and that religion...the govt has no business dictating it.
@katastrofikRQ the government should give us equality of rights.. there are lots of good things about the government, and ron paul is also part of the government. so don't hate on it too much. i think marriage should be available to all, and the gov't should see to it that we all have this freedom.
@timmay301 ron paul is stating the he believes it is a religious ceremony, but im positive atheists have been and are married (they didnt have a religious aspect to their wedding which is perfectly fine) so u dont have anything to worry about :)
@acali24 no, it should be a legal act, because in some circumstances it's very important to be married. Like for instance to obtain a permit to stay in a country for you and your family.
@timmay301 How does an atheist get married? However the fuck you want to. You don't need the blessing of the state or some pastor to get married. Have a ceremony.
@timmay301 actually, i am an athiest as well, this question has came up in my thoughts before. I believe that you can be married without ceremony, by only signing papers. I'm not too sure on that issue, but there should be a way to get married without ceremony.
@timmay301 historically marriage has been tied with some religions, so that's why people would say that. Don't know if that helps, but that's the best answer I could think of
@dustyroot same as any Christian, really. Why the hell wouldn't I be able to celebrate someone's marriage, or even their religion. If they are happy with it? Christmas has been commercialized and economized since before i was born. There's nothing religious about it. Go look in a Target store before Christmas. It's all about money, not religion. Look at the hollywood movies. For me Christmas is just a fun day when i get to see my family. Why wouldn't I be able to enjoy myself?
you'd have to be a fucking idiot to think that "God" will be mad if society allows a gay couple to get married and raise a family. The state as well as any religious organization should not have a say as to whether two adults should be allowed to marry one another regardless of sexual orientation. Ron Paul 2012
@shivom90 ummm religiously yeah "GOD" would be angry... So either I am an idiot, or...... You have never read the bible.. And if I am an idiot, then my bible must be gibberish. If my bible is gibberish then, all Christians are wrong. And if all Christians are wrong, then I might as well change my religion! and if I do that, I might as well be atheist for a while. If I am Atheist for a while then I would have no real Morals, if I have no real morals then I can punch you in the face!.
@cheezitsruleyrg Without feeling bad about it. Without anyone of my friends judging me because you know, they would be Atheist too because they read the same bible as I do. If we found out it was wrong, and you are right!, then hmmmmmmm your getting punched in the face!.
Why do you need to take your morals from the bible, and what makes them "real"? What are "real" morals? Why do you discredit atheists and how they live their life (their moral code)?
@Sanhlam If you honestly want to live life feeling pretty and thinking it's all cool to have basic human morals without what gave them to you. Basing it off of a basic matter of being human, then you need to realize if you don't believe in God, then you believe in Death. If you believe in death then you believe you will never be existing outside of this world when your body dies. When you are rotting in the ground. Where will you be? does that not scare you worst than hell?
Have you ever died? Have you ever witnessed what is after death? because if you haven't then you should not speak. If you have, then tell me the story because I would love to know. Every man has a story. What is yours? If you think that death is the end, then I would be shitting my pants. That my friend is a worst thought than doing something bad and ending up in hell. At least with hell, you can still be alive.
I live by the moral to do as how you would want to be treated and not to hurt anyone in anyway way. I think that's enough to live by. I honestly believe that nothing will happen after. Yes it did scare me before, but it is something I accepted. I would rather accept the fact that this is my only life, than to believe that there is a second chance of existence or be scared of how I live my life. The side effect of it makes me cherish my life more as well.
I have not died or witness it, but I doubt you have either, so your point is not very strong. I find you fear death more than I do. You fear not existing so you gravitate towards a safety net known as your religion. I am not trying to persuade you to becoming an atheist but you have to understand that there are people who don't need a "safety net" or rules that limit their life and they also don't like it when other people tell them they have no morals.
@cheezitsruleyrg Why do you need a book to tell you to be good to people around you? That's pure and simply an intellectual crutch. It doesn't take a 2,000 year old book written by bronze age sheep herders to logically understand morality...
@cheezitsruleyrg haha why should organized, man-made religion dictate your morals? is it too hard to just naturally want to be a good person who contributes to society in a positive way? let's not get ahead of ourselves here; the idea of "God" was created by organized religion to make people believe that if they act "out of order" then a greater, non-human entity will punish them for eternity! They are using that same belief-system by imposing on peoples' basic rights to marry those they love.
@cheezitsruleyrg you could have "no real morals." or you could do good things because you honestly care about others, not because you think you will be rewarded
who cares who marries who as long as both people are happy i would just leave it upto u n the other person involved, its nt like it wldnt b hard enough to deal with bein a married couple in some of the other people in societys eyes, let people choose who they want to marry nt hav it arranged to a man has to marry a women or not at all and vise versa
I like his stance and response here, especially being republican; however, the matter of marriage becomes a government issue when married folk get tax breaks for doing it.That being said, if two people of the same sex want to marry I don't see how it would be constitutional or keeping with the philosophy of a "free" nation to tell people they can't marry someone they love. Now if it ever comes to people marrying inanimate objects or other creatures it becomes a different issue.
I recomend this article for those interested in Ron Pauls view of gay marriage. Spaces at dashes to allow post. charlotteconservative. com / index.php / 2011/05/ron-paul-and-gay-marriage/
Ron Paul changed me.... I used to be adamantly against gay marriage, and supported laws against it..... I still think it is disgusting, I don't support it, and I don't endorse it.... But why the fuck should the government be legislating what goes on in the bedrooms of our own homes? It is absolutely none of their business, and it's time we put an end to the government thinking they can control every aspect of our lives.
@jcaled24 The world needs more people like you. People that can look past their personal feelings and save liberty for everyone. Save Liberty. Ron Paul 2012.
@looneybird54 Its not me... It's Ron Paul. I would probably have never changed if I wouldn't have listened to his message. Once I did I realized what a beautiful message it is indeed.... changed me, my family, and hopefully America forever. :)
best answer. he states his opinion and then basicly says it is not up to the states nor the gov to tell you can or can not marry and to make it [gay/lesbian or mutiple spouse marriage] agaist the law is completely unconstitutional.
This is why extreme conservatives dont like ron paul. im not saying anything about the average conservative, but extreme conservatives dont like ron paul for this reason
R's love talking about how much they hate government, except of course when it comes to gays and invading other countries so a few rich guys can get richer. Motherfukkking hypocrites. Jesus was a commie - you'd know that if you read the bible instead of just thumping on it and trying to cram it down everyones throat.
@MCSCommander No, gays are humans. If you were an actual Christian you would've actually listened to what that nice Jesus fellow said about striving to love other people despite their traits rather than rejecting them.

i dont have a religion, do i get to get married??
sek3ymisek3ymi 21 hours ago
@sek3ymisek3ymi yes, because in religious terms marriage is between a man and a woman, whatever your beliefs are
i really dont understand why gays would want to get married under a religious ceremony, when that same religion calls them abominations.
you dont hear about gays clammoring to stomp on a glass and shout "mazel tov" (jewish marriage ceremony)
Rhuarc224 20 hours ago
@sek3ymisek3ymi im not totally religious (i would consider myself as more of an agnostic-christian), but i dont see why gays are so intent on imposing on the christian religious ceremony.
Rhuarc224 20 hours ago
@Rhuarc224 gay people want the right to marry the one they love for the legal reasons it has nothing to do with religion. ron paul is a fool
sek3ymisek3ymi 20 hours ago
@sek3ymisek3ymi So you are saying that no gays want to get married for love but strictly for legal reasons? Perhaps you don't have any "life partner" that loves you. And if it has nothing to do with religion, why then do they have gay (non-Christian)priests perform the ceremony? Besides you're missing the point, Dr.Paul implied the government should have no say so over who can get married and should stay out of it. You are a fool.
psovegeta 19 hours ago
@psovegeta no gays want the rights of married couples, they are already in love. they want the right to visit each other when sick and the normal rights held by a married couple, its more of a legal issue then religious. people can be married by a judge or a priest who cares...ron paul has his head up his ass on most issues, he doesnt care about freedom or civil rights, he just doesnt want the federal government telling anybody what to do. while that sounds nice, its stupid.
sek3ymisek3ymi 19 hours ago

GoodChristianMorals 18 hours ago
@Rhuarc224 Especially considering that people of religions other than Christianity are allowed marriage. With the same title, benefits, and respect of any other marriage. Also, I feel that it is fair to point out that there ARE gay Christians.
GoodChristianMorals 18 hours ago
@Rhuarc224 As well as Christian churches that are fully supportive of gay people.

Legalize it.

why is marriage a religious ceremony? i'm an atheist - how can i get married??
timmay301 3 days ago 18
@timmay301 If you're an atheist then you shouldn't want to get married, just like you shouldn't want to celebrate Christmas. These are religious ideas...
wwerulestna 2 days ago
@wwerulestna well, i want to get married, because there are certain arrangements. like when i die i want my wife to get my stuff. And i like celebrating xmas even though i think jesus was just a carpenter who talked a lot. So atheists enjoy xmas and marriage too..
timmay301 2 days ago
@timmay301 It's called a will...and Christmas is a religious holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus, so you celebrating it makes no sense and is completely hypocritical and selfish.
wwerulestna 2 days ago
@wwerulestna there's more to it than that. My parents are atheists, and every christmas, the family would get together, celebrate, the children some of them would believe in Santa, we'd all have a good time. That's hypocritical because we don't believe in God? Selfish? Who are we hurting?
timmay301 2 days ago
@timmay301 imo marriage for atheists is more of a symbolic gesture of love, i think an atheist marriage can be even more meaningful than a religious marriage in the way that the couple doesn't stay together because of some divine influence, but because of their affection towards each other. not that i think religious marriages are weak, in fact i think religion can make marriage stronger, but i cant help but wonder if some people stay together because of the bible, and not love.
whatwayzup 2 days ago
@timmay301 by going to the courthouse and signing on the dotted line just like a gay person can (or should be able to). For most people however marriage IS a religious ceremony, as evidenced by the fact that it is a priest, rabbi or what have you that imparts a blessing and pronounces the happy couple man and wife...so if your religion wont marry you because you are gay that is an issue between you and that religion...the govt has no business dictating it.
katastrofikRQ 2 days ago
@katastrofikRQ the government should give us equality of rights.. there are lots of good things about the government, and ron paul is also part of the government. so don't hate on it too much. i think marriage should be available to all, and the gov't should see to it that we all have this freedom.

@acali24 no, it should be a legal act, because in some circumstances it's very important to be married. Like for instance to obtain a permit to stay in a country for you and your family.
timmay301 2 days ago
@timmay301 So you want to get married for the sole purpose of your wife owning 50% of your belongings ???
acali24 2 days ago
@acali24 id like to avoid that part of it actually :D
timmay301 2 days ago
@timmay301 How does an atheist get married? However the fuck you want to. You don't need the blessing of the state or some pastor to get married. Have a ceremony.
datalorez 2 days ago
@timmay301 actually, i am an athiest as well, this question has came up in my thoughts before. I believe that you can be married without ceremony, by only signing papers. I'm not too sure on that issue, but there should be a way to get married without ceremony.

@timmay301
cultural ceremony would be better put?
zenokro 2 days ago
@timmay301 historically marriage has been tied with some religions, so that's why people would say that. Don't know if that helps, but that's the best answer I could think of

@timmay301 : Ever been to a christmas party of bought someone a wedding gift or a gift for xmas? How could you do these things if you are an atheist?
dustyroot 2 days ago
@dustyroot same as any Christian, really. Why the hell wouldn't I be able to celebrate someone's marriage, or even their religion. If they are happy with it? Christmas has been commercialized and economized since before i was born. There's nothing religious about it. Go look in a Target store before Christmas. It's all about money, not religion. Look at the hollywood movies. For me Christmas is just a fun day when i get to see my family. Why wouldn't I be able to enjoy myself?
timmay301 2 days ago
@timmay301 well said. i have yet to see any signs of religion in christmas anymore. it's all about spending loads of money to buy crap for people.

you'd have to be a fucking idiot to think that "God" will be mad if society allows a gay couple to get married and raise a family. The state as well as any religious organization should not have a say as to whether two adults should be allowed to marry one another regardless of sexual orientation. Ron Paul 2012
shivom90 3 days ago
@shivom90 ummm religiously yeah "GOD" would be angry... So either I am an idiot, or...... You have never read the bible.. And if I am an idiot, then my bible must be gibberish. If my bible is gibberish then, all Christians are wrong. And if all Christians are wrong, then I might as well change my religion! and if I do that, I might as well be atheist for a while. If I am Atheist for a while then I would have no real Morals, if I have no real morals then I can punch you in the face!.
cheezitsruleyrg 3 days ago
@cheezitsruleyrg Without feeling bad about it. Without anyone of my friends judging me because you know, they would be Atheist too because they read the same bible as I do. If we found out it was wrong, and you are right!, then hmmmmmmm your getting punched in the face!.
cheezitsruleyrg 3 days ago
@cheezitsruleyrg
Why do you need to take your morals from the bible, and what makes them "real"? What are "real" morals? Why do you discredit atheists and how they live their life (their moral code)?
Sanhlami 3 days ago
@Sanhlam If you honestly want to live life feeling pretty and thinking it's all cool to have basic human morals without what gave them to you. Basing it off of a basic matter of being human, then you need to realize if you don't believe in God, then you believe in Death. If you believe in death then you believe you will never be existing outside of this world when your body dies. When you are rotting in the ground. Where will you be? does that not scare you worst than hell?
cheezitsruleyrg 17 hours ago
Have you ever died? Have you ever witnessed what is after death? because if you haven't then you should not speak. If you have, then tell me the story because I would love to know. Every man has a story. What is yours? If you think that death is the end, then I would be shitting my pants. That my friend is a worst thought than doing something bad and ending up in hell. At least with hell, you can still be alive.
cheezitsruleyrg 17 hours ago
@cheezitsruleyrg
Sanhlami 17 hours ago
@cheezitsruleyrg I
I have not died or witness it, but I doubt you have either, so your point is not very strong.

Magnificoooooo 3 days ago
@cheezitsruleyrg haha why should organized, man-made religion dictate your morals? is it too hard to just naturally want to be a good person who contributes to society in a positive way? let's not get ahead of ourselves here; the idea of "God" was created by organized religion to make people believe that if they act "out of order" then a greater, non-human entity will punish them for eternity! They are using that same belief-system by imposing on peoples' basic rights to marry those they love.
shivom90 3 days ago
@cheezitsruleyrg you could have "no real morals." or you could do good things because you honestly care about others, not because you think you will be rewarded

who cares who marries who as long as both people are happy i would just leave it upto u n the other person involved, its nt like it wldnt b hard enough to deal with bein a married couple in some of the other people in societys eyes, let people choose who they want to marry nt hav it arranged to a man has to marry a women or not at all and vise versa

The last true democratic-republican. Yes. There use to be a time where both parties agreed that there should be a limit to the federal government.
ahjapink 3 days ago
I like his stance and response here, especially being republican; however, the matter of marriage becomes a government issue when married folk get tax breaks for doing it.That being said, if two people of the same sex want to marry I don't see how it would be constitutional or keeping with the philosophy of a "free" nation to tell people they can't marry someone they love. Now if it ever comes to people marrying inanimate objects or other creatures it becomes a different issue.

@looneybird54 Its not me... It's Ron Paul. I would probably have never changed if I wouldn't have listened to his message. Once I did I realized what a beautiful message it is indeed.... changed me, my family, and hopefully America forever. :)
jcaled24 2 days ago
@jcaled24 Well if anyone every argues gay marriage with you, you only have to say one thing.
"Why are you mad at gays? Shouldn't you be mad at straight couples having gay children?"

@TwigzofNowhere Hahahahahaahaha that's hilarious!
jcaled24 2 days ago
best answer. he states his opinion and then basicly says it is not up to the states nor the gov to tell you can or can not marry and to make it [gay/lesbian or mutiple spouse marriage] agaist the law is completely unconstitutional.

R's love talking about how much they hate government, except of course when it comes to gays and invading other countries so a few rich guys can get richer. Motherfukkking hypocrites. Jesus was a commie - you'd know that if you read the bible instead of just thumping on it and trying to cram it down everyones throat.
