Chase bank handled my credit card account for years. I was an on-time payer and had a sweet 5.25% interest rate. In the Spring of 2009 I got laid off from my work and for the first time ever I had to make a 50% payment to them. I called ahead of time and explained that this single payment would be overdue but all would be handled the folowing month. Not only did they charge me the late fee, they raised my interest rate to 29.99%. DO NOT EVER USE THIS BANK!!!!

i have chase bank for my mortgage, they certainly suck. i want to refinance. i didnt realize how bad they really are. i have to have flood insurance, the bank agreed to $78,000 worth of flood insurance upon closing. a month after the closing i got a letter saying that i didnt have enough. i had to increase it to 111,000 since they stuck flood gap on my mortgage. recently they took 2 months worth of payments on my checking account. im still trying to get the second payment removed

Here's the deal Chase employess cannot give out their standard id's due fraudulent attempts to get customer information. And agreed customer services over the phone is not the est. However, you should have just gone into a ranch or called a local branch. The call centers are not the best, but the bankers are always happy to help resolve your issue or call with you. Its always better to be in front of a live person rather than over the phone.

AND before you click the GREEN button to submit, it gives you a confirmation screen. when you hit submit....thats when its recorded. chase will not MAGICALLY make up stuff. i know it may be hard to believe, but if chase were to screw you over intentionally, im sure they wouldnt have done it through a bill PAYMENT.

lol so what happened to the check? if the check was sent to the wrong payee (system error or not) verizon still had possession of the funds. if their name wasnt printed on the check, they couldnt cash it and would return to sender which would void the check and refund the money back into your account. or a stop payment could have easilly been placed. if they did cash the check, and notified you that you shouldnt have paid that, it would be their responsibility to refund it to you. ;)

Frankly, your story is not believable. If you had the proof that it was a bankj error, you could have gone into a branch and worked it out with the manager. Or, if you didn't receive satisfaction, you could have contacted your state banking commissioner. In any event, at Chase, its the exact opposite, they won't give you the last name, but they do give you the employee ID number. The people who would believe you are other dorks who are careless or run up bills they can't pay.

wow banks suck! i had the same issues with wells fargo...and they charged me and signed me up for identity theft (25.00 month) which i never even signed up for.

since then i have gone to a credit union. i highly recommend them theres no comparison between a bank and a credit union and they dont even really charge you overdraft fees.!

Wow, seriously. I work at a bank and have heard of this type of thing happening for large amounts of money. There are federal rules and regulations that banks must follow when dealing with theses types of transactions. Your transaction falls under the guidelines of "Reg. E." If you request in person to file a "Reg. E" claim the bank MUST comply/respond/open inquiry into the matter within 24 hours of claim. If the bank fails to do so (and they won't fail on a reg E claim) they are in violation.

I totally believe you on this experience. I am finding Chase to be a very "funny" bank in not a good way. When I made deposits to WaMu at the branch, all of my funds were available. With Chase, that is not the case even when my deposit is all cash. If 1/2 of the Chase account holders switched to a local bank, then Chase might change their act.
