This version seems different from its SNES counterpart. I had that one (yay non-regionlocked SNES) and a lot of the bosses were different.

i readed alot about it on wikipedia and it say's that had advanced graphics for it,s time and even polygons in some levels,it also say's that it has a sa1 chip,either i tout this game had a voice chip for those voice samples according to wikipedia,but whatever ,m readingg everything again i can,t find any ebydence about that voice chip anymore, ,m i confused or misleaded.

i think this level's bosses are based on taisen puzzle dama.

This kinda bothered me too but it's mainly true for this level, the others look more "traditional" (if you can call them that), except one level that is basically a Xexex (little known shmup by Konami) parody. Maybe this level is also a parody of some other obcsure game/whatever.

Rxsecretplot nailed it; this level is supposed to parody Konami's Taisen Puzzle-Dama, an ongoing battle puzzle series akin to Puyo Puyo. The three bosses fought here all appear as characters you go up against in the first Taisen Puzzle-Dama.

It's interesting to note that their animations here match those found in the Puzzle-Dama (i.e. when losing, when attacking with puzzle pieces, when defeated), complete with the "seal of approval" at the end. ^_^

Some kid gave me this game telling me it didnt work. I dont know how he got his hands on it but I happened to have a chipped PS1 at the time.

It became one of my favorite PS1 games. I WISH I could play it again..

You kidding, Penclaw (penguin with bucket on head) is absolutely hilarious and definitely fits this game. The dog is pretty funny the way he yelps, and the last boss wearing a wig on his head, funny as well.

This is on difficulty level 4, which is the default.
