fact is that damon CHOSE to get close to elena knowing she was in a relationship with his brother and knowing how much stefan loves elena.. He CHOSE to chase after her despite the fact that he hated stefan for doing the same with katherine.. Damon loved katherine and hated stefan for coming between them yet he chooses to do the same thing to stefan.. So yes he had a choice to let his brother find happiness with the girl he loved or interfere and he CHOSE to interfere

She didn't have to have all these intimate moments with him in S1 and S2 but she did. No one has ever forced Elena to be Damon's connection to humanity -but she is. And that is ALL Elena's choice. Everything that has happened between Delena is not all Damon's fault. Elena isn't some inanimate object, she has feelings, it isn't all about poor Stefan's happiness!

@graceage14 yes they write what they want, but to a certain point - they DO have to take into account what viewers want for the sake of keeping their ratings high enough to continue to further seasons...they would be foolish *not* to since then that would spell the death of the show otherwise... It's just the nature of things, doesnt mean kevin and plec are bad for doing so, nor does it mean the fans are "bad"..its just the way the world works..
