i feel this is a little biased. one thing, the driver on the lamborghini seem to suck balls at driving. not saying i can do any btter at all, but get a better driver. the bike driver seemed to be very skilled at driving his bike. also this is a bike vs a car. highly biased against the car. no car in the world will ever beat a bike.
i can't understand why all the english people are sure that the "busa" is the fastest bike in the world.ok,is the faster bike but just on a straight road.take a look at the weight:busa 243kg;ducati 1198 just 169kg.take a look at the hp:busa has 197 hp,1198 has170 hp.now the weight/power ratio is 1.2 for the busa and 0.9 for the ducati.how is it possible that a busa can be faster than a ducati???
ha um no, i dont care if u like ducati more, the fact is-1300cc vs. 1000cc, ducati miiiight have a chance on the circut course depending... but the hayabusa is the fastest production bike on the planet thus far... ducati is coming out with a 1199r, we'll see then
The Busa, k1200 and Zx14 are too heavy to be competitive on a track, on the track looks like the 1000s will dominate. 600s can beat 1000s in smaller tracks too.
daveyshrike ofcourse a awd (gallardo/wrx) will have an advantage over bikes in wet and low tracktion enviorments if it's twistie. but I can't think of any real world condition where a car would win in a straght line.
I want to see someone compare euro to jap bikes. MV or duke yamaha and honda. Is it worth paying twice as much?
These bikes would be much much slower on the track - they are built for straight lines and top speeds not nimbleness. I agree that any of the 1 liter I4s can beat the vanilla 999 on the track, and I don't think many can disagree with that. I would have liked to have seen the 'S' or 'R' version of the 999 or the GSXR-750 which in most all tests beats the liter bikes on the track significantly. But I don't race so the Duc gets my pick any day of the week.
But in the wet, on a looser surface, on a bumpy real-world road, with a 'normal' person in control a fast car will always be at an advantage over a bike. Disagree? I'll see you out there on the slurry-covered back roads of mid Wales in icy December. Impreza or Ducati under these real-world conditions?
Obvios that 999 won...it's much more light and in curves will win for the better acceleration...but on a long straight Gallardo would win...and please after saying a jap bike will smoke Ducati...plz.....watch superbike...asshole (I have an Mv Agusta F4s 4 cylinders but Ducati is a good bike as well)
the ducati 999 is a v-twin. if it were a japanese inline-four like a kawasaki zx-10R or a suzuki GSX-R1000 it would have smoked the ducati 999, and in turn smoke the lambo. i have an Aprilia RSV Mille 1000, so im not dinging the v-twin. they're still better than inline 4's, in my opinion.
