Their writing system is much more expressive than any western form. Not only the meaning of the words is to be considered, also the characters that which it derived from does matter as well. Unfortunately, complexity of Japanese language also made it not so adaptive like it is in English. Instead of introducing new Kanjii to form a new word, Japanese devised a katakana, which allows English words used in Japanese. This is why you see us Japanese use many family English words in our conversation.

@tkoizumi It seems like there has been a great deal of usage of English words to describe Japanese things in recent years, though (especially if you consider that Hello Morning is Haro Moni/Haro Moningu instead of...maybe Ohayo Asa? my Japanese is wretched). Also, if I'm thinking correctly, a lot of katakana ends up being used in advertisements, since it's considered more dynamic.
