  • @taxi7676 the guy in the train with the camera inboard died

  • they didn't die.

  • If the driver of the camera train had of floored it for like the minute before the crash then this whole disaster could have been avoided!

  • @workshop77777 YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT, OMG. ITS TRAIN FOOL, NOT A CAR, YOU MAY NOT GET THAT CONCEPT BECAUSE YOU ARE STUPID AS HELL

  • @Bmants I am sorry English is not my first language, I apologise for the offence I caused, I have not the experience to drive a train.

  • did the train drivers died?

  • Don't you just hate it when people post comments twice

  • @Mrxbladezz yes

  • Don't you just hate it when people post comments twice

  • @Mrxbladezz yes

  • @Mrxbladezz No.

  • i hacked my comment so u cant like it

  • well son of a bitch!!!!....were fucked lol

  • @sburry1000 Thanks for leaving a short comment which i have time to read lol

  • @gregboyds Which conductor on which train are you talking about? The conductor on the train with the camera had about 2 seconds warning. The conductor on the train without the camera was "probably" hoping they could stop up until a few seconds before the collision.

  • So much force

  • @Wharfratt5 oh ok

  • how was that guy not freaking out and yelling

  • @coHon96 Maybe they were. But there is no mic in the locomotive cab.

  • jumppppppppppppp

  • eject! eject! eject! :P

  • where and when the heck is this?!!!!!

  • @gsarci2011 BNSF, Stockton Subdivision, milepost 1024.5. Kismet, (Madera County), California. June 14,2006.

  • 240p...we meet again

  • aww i wanted to see the hole thing and after wtf

  • There was another video with this exact same footage and, unlike this video, it had about 8 times more dislikes than likes...

  • If you 'Google': HQ-2006-48, you can read the actual FRA / NTSB Accident Investigation Report on this collision for yourself. Most modern mainline freight & passenger locomotives are equipped with video cameras - such as in this case - for investigation & litigation purposes. (By the way, the screen turned blue because the collision - which occurred at a relative closing speed of 60 MPH - took out the camera. However, there are other sites where this video is posted where the sound continues.

  • Let me save you precious youtube time, you are looking for 0:42. You're welcome.

  • "the combined 60mph collision took out the camera"

This is a common misconception. If you collide similar objects at 30 km/h, each object will energywise experience a similar collision as with a solid wall at 30 km/h. If both had experienced a 60 km/h collision, we would have created energy out of nothing, which we know for sure is not possible.

  • there you go unstoppable!!!!

  • @niselat dumb ass

  • @harritaco you can see it is going to miss just before the screen mysteriously turns blue. and why were they videoing unless they were setting this up? you're a sheeplike idiot

  • Comment removed

  • @wavehopper100 yeah I can take any news story and work up a fake video around it. but, okay, let's say you are right. where's the video from the other train?

  • @niselat If you don't believe that locomotives are equipped with cameras than just drive around a crossing gate (assuming you own a car) and get struck by a train. And when the railroad hauls your sorry ass to court to sue you for all costs incurred by your carelessness and presents the video showing you driving around the gates as evidence, than don't tell me that I didn't warn you! Have a nice life!

  • @Wharfratt5 where's the video from the other train? there is none and that's proof this is a faked up video

  • @niselat Oh wait. No way. No way. Are you really stating that because a video from the other train is not posted on YouTube that the entire incident was faked?

    Seriously?

I have come across some amazingly ignorant assumptions on YouTube but this one is priceless.

  • @Boss302fan that guy up there said all locomotives have video cams. I am sure the NTSB would have the footage so where can I see it? YouTube is not the whole world

  • @niselat Read my comment carefully. It states: "Most modern mainline freight & passenger locomotives are equipped with video cameras". I NEVER stated 'all'. Also do you remember being told that cameras are only a recent feature of locomotives and that at the time of this accident many were still not equipped. Also the absence of the video on 'YouTube' is not proof that the video doesn't exist. It just means that it isn't on 'YouTube'. As before, your 'reasoning' is still flawed!

  • @niselat All locomotives do not have video cams. Most mainline locomotives do however. The NTSB may have footage. They may not. Not all equipment of this nature survives collisions. And the NTSB does not always release all footage. Much depends on pending legal actions, pending investigations, quality of the footage, etc. From what I have been told (may not be true) the original release of the footage you see here was "leaked" and not officially made available.

  • @wavehopper100 Thanks hopper. If I had read more of their posts I would have reached the same conclusion.

Question. Do you think they're just out trolling....or are they really that stupid?

Be safe man. Scary road crossing incident right in front of me today. In an instant lives can change.

  • @Boss302fan I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt and never ass/u/me that they are as stupid as they sometimes appear to be. But, sometimes I wonder!

Thanks! You be safe too! The CPR used to print right on the front of their timetables: "Life Is Fragile...Handle With Care." You and I know that much better than most! Take care!

  • Comment removed

  • @niselat You are basing your argument on the premise that it is fake because the video from the other train has yet to show up on 'YouTube' (Doh!). Your reasoning is therefore faulty and you have already lost! Accept defeat graciously!:D

Enter 'Headon Train Collision' by 'mustang6603' to view actual photos of the collision - including photos of the locomotives. You will then understand the seriousness of this accident. 'Google': HQ-2006-48 for the FRA / NTSB Accident Investigation Report.

  • @wavehopper100 you are basing your opinion on a YouTube video. and we all know YouTube is the one source of all truth and knowledge. yeah and I can show you an *actual* video of Hitler commenting on Justin Beiber. The NTSB would have released the video from the other train

  • the report said the conductor of the oncoming train had cocaine in his bloodstream. wtf

  • @ccrimsonfox Not to condone his use of cocaine - quite the opposite, but the FRA report also states: "The conductor of the eastbound train's use of cocaine may have contributed to the cause of the accident. However, the toxicological results do not allow a conclusion concerning either possible impairment or when the drug was taken."

There were 2 other crew members in that cab, who tested negative for drug use, & who also failed to obey a stop signal; which was the "probable cause" of this.

  • too bad the camera stopped working when the train hit the.... train?

  • Railways to overcome signaling result in such accidents. A shame that the greed of profits, some railway companies forget that their drivers are human beings. I am engineer of the Carajás Railroad, here in Brazil, and our railroad, has one of the safest rail systems existing in the world today.

  • @fernando1cunha If you are indeed an engineer then you would understand that there is nothing wrong with the signaling here. The engineer in the on-coming train ignored multiple signals and caused this accident. This accident was completely the fault of the "driver" and the crew on his train.

I've railroaded in Brazil. Principally the grain lines running into the interior. Your operations are safe, but no safer than those in the US, Canada and Mexico.

  • @LocomotiveEngineer2 What is the NTSB ID for this crash?

  • hihi Im here 4u

  • TUCK AND ROLL................

  • Damn when it said train hits other train, I thought it would be your mom jumping in front of a train.

  • this reminds me of the movie unstoppable, if you haven't you should watch it :D

  • @MediaMocker watch it for fun. But don't leave the movie concluding that what you are seeing is in any way 'realistic'

  • jump out jump out!! at 0:42

  • The train with the video on board obviously tried swerving to avoid the other train but just didnt have enough time. very sad.

  • @yynnmmbb The train didn't exactly swerve! But, they had previously been lined into the siding by the dispatcher and almost made it. (At least with the lead locomotive.) A couple more seconds and they would have made it.

  • @yynnmmbb: A train "swerved'?

That is far and away the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

  • Comment removed

  • @LocomotiveEngineer2: Granted I live in a coal town and have been around trains my whole life, I can't grasp how the hell someone would think that a train swerved.

  • Now it would of been better if the video continued

  • @RealSouljaYuye Unfortunately the 60mph head-on collision took out the camera. Go figure! However, there are other sites out there where the sound continues after the collision. You may want to check those ones out.

  • A retired RR engineer told me there's no such thing as an "accident" on a railroad, that the railroad will ALWAYS find some one at fault regardless of what happens. True or false?

  • Comment removed

  • @carborundable Typical union response. The truth is....people screw up and make mistakes. And the truth is, railroads operate outside in all sort of weather and changing conditions. They do so over thousands of miles of terrain hauling very heavy loads. Things will at times go wrong. I've investigated dozens and dozens of "incidents". Human error caused many. And in other cases nature took its toll. In the case of this accident it was 100 percent human error.

  • Its like " yes! i will make it!!" and then you remember your train is a mile long

  • @TheTEAMBUTLER good atleast one person who got positive result of this happening, the same happend with me, only i dont know how can come down now, whar are you doing for the solution.

  • @puketinho i flicked my bean to help myself

  • FRA reports aren't always correct. You know these class1 railroads have great lawyers, and lots of cash. Where's the video of the train at fault? Where are the drug test results? Hmmmm???? Train ran a red block. Crew is at fault no matter what. Both engineer, and conductor can put train in emergency. They were just not paying attenchion......

  • @kngaheartss This train crew DID place the train into emergency braking. (In the video you can clearly see the smoke coming off the brake shoes.) If you haven't already, read the FRA accident report for all the details. It is correct, and it does determine cause/blame for this incident. (Keep in mind, it is NOT the mandate of the FRA to handout discipline. That is the role of the railroad(s). They carry out their own seperate investigation to determine cause/discipline.)

  • Comment removed

  • @kngaheartss It's true railroads have great lawyers and lots of cash. They need both as in North America in court trials the general public looks at a train accident as a means of obtaining millions. Even though most accidents are clearly not due to railroad fault it often takes 'a great attorney' to convince a jury. I've been on the stand in over 20 incidents and speak from first hand experience. The crew in the opposing train was at fault. Drug tests were part of the investication.

  • only a smart person would notice that the video changes from 0:06 to 0:10

  • @CapDesignz What does that have to do with anything?

  • at 0:08 looks like the picture changed

  • Comment removed

  • Well that shows you that the americans have not worked out signaling yet.

  • @1985landrover There was nothing wrong with the signaling system. it worked perfectly. Unfortunatley in territories such as this one throughout the world you are ultimately dependent on individuals to do what the signals tell them to do. In this case an individual ignored the signals. This isn't an "American" thing. People are stupid and careless all over. Even in the UK

  • Comment removed

  • I just read the accident report... Apparently the eastbound train (the other train) ran a stop signal. It said that the conductor's use of cocaine likely contributed to the mistake. (Hope he got fired)! Damages for equipment and tracks totaled well over $5 million. Crew suffered sprains, fractures and internal injuries, but no life threatening injuries.

  • @crushnkill Actually, the FRA report stated: "The conductor (on Train #1) use of cocaine may have contributed to the cause of the accident. However, the toxicological results do not allow a conclusion concerning either possible impairment or when the drug was taken."

"The FRA determined the probable cause as the failure of Train #1 to comply with automatic block or interlocking signal displaying a stop indication."

Rule 'G' (drug & alcohol use) violations are usually dismissable offences.

  • Holy cr*p, i don`t know anything about the theory, but IMO it looked like what happened is the best that could. I mean instead of head on collision, they went away from each other just a second before, sliding off on each other... really no idea, just a thought from viewing

  • Person jumps out of oncoming train at 0:43

  • @TodBertuzzi44 No flies on you!

  • @Randolph6957 not all survied, 3 died in this train wreck. This vid is used by UP for what not to dos, the op of the train that is coming head on was asleep, or so they thought later on found out he was drunk and high both driving a train.

  • @acloyd If you read the FRA / NTSB accident report; 'Google' HQ-2006-48, you will find that no one was killed. All 5 crew members on both trains survived the collision. It does not come to the same conclusions as you have; ie: no one was 'drunk'. Please read the report to find out what really happened.

  • @acloyd I work for UP. Yes we and other railroads use the video for a 'shock treatment' in certain classes. However there was no proof that alcohol or any other narcotics played a part in this incident. Just curious as to why you would make this up?

  • Comment removed

  • @acloyd Hello In America You Dont Drive a Train.............

  • @nslakedivision, wow get life instead of reading in old post, your prob unemployed and Im pay for your worthless ass

  • @acloyd wow Rocket Scientist! Why dont you get a life and go back to school. so you can get a real job like working for a big time railroad so you can keep getting that Meth for your system. Go Blow off......

  • @nslakedivision I guess you work for the railroad lol. I already graduated from college, trust me I have a great job as for the drug joke your crack at me..... never have tried the stuff. Sorry you swung for the fence on that one and well you miss the ball. Im married Im not gay like you must be talking about guys blowing other guys I don't swing that way, you can try it on yourself.

  • This is a game?

  • @CourtsBieber1 No, this is actual video taken from a railroad installed camera of a collision between 2 BNSF freight trains.

  • Maybe The Reason Of The Accident Was A Brake Failure?

  • @TrainGuy33 Rather than speculate, read the accident report: HQ-2006-48. (The brakes on the train that 'ran' the stop signal were operating correctly. You can see the smoke coming from the brake shoes.)

  • NO, NOO, NOOOOOOOObam

  • NOTHER TRAIN!!!

  • @LocomotiveEngineer2 Thank you very much. Not trying to ruin your comment, just trying to make it clearer. There is a lot of people that mistakenly belives that a head-on colision is like hitting a wall at the sum of speeds. But as you said is much more important the other object's speed and weight; the sum of speeds only affects to the time of reaction and to the space to brake. If it was not clear at my first comment I'm really sorry, but english is not my natural language. Best wishes.

  • @GroovyDrifter Not a problem! I understood what you were attempting to clarify - unlike some others. The 'relative closing speed' of the 2 trains was 60 mph which directly affected the space and time to brake. Sometimes you just run out of space to express it properly! I appreciated your input!

  • If you look very closely at about 0:43, you can see a guy from the other train jump and roll in the dirt. (A maneuver better known as "GTFO")
