Pyro was horrible back then

Short range, only 150 DPS, afterburn was kinda powerful, as only medics and water could extinguish it, but any class could shoot him down away from his crappy range without problems

Now he have

138 DPS, afterburn is a joke now, airblast (one of the most powerful and versatile abilities in the game), flaregun for mid/long range damage, detonator for advanced mobility (not much though), axetinguisher for high burst damage, Third Degree for the best taunt ever

Pyro was the only class that sucked badly back then, until they introduced airblast, because his DPS was horrible, every single class could beat him in a 1vs1 if they stayed out of his range, now he have the tools to avoid being damaged so easily and kill most classes in a single hit

If you play a full Space Pyro, it's almost same as the old days (as in this video) with a funny twist. Soldiers hard counter you again, but it's fun to run through 4 enemies in a row after the phlog taunt.

Not really viable since the lost of airblast is crippling, but so much fun.

I'm ok at Pyro. I use him mainly in places which are open, but with a lot of obstacles that block the line of sight. (Gravelpit for instance) I use the Postal Pummeler (a melee weapon which does exactly the same as the axtinguisher, but I use it for humour purposes) and the Flare Gun. I try to use the airblasts when I can, but I just can't get the timing down. I often play defensive, protecting engies untill they get their defenses on or burning incoming enemies.

Tips would be very nice. :D

The Demoman can also kill the pyro. What happened was the Pyro was burning me as Demoman I kept hitting him /her with a sword and decapitated him/her. I would have died form burning but luckily I found a small Med-kit to extinguish me.

@Miguelzor100 It's a bug in the game, very noticeble, and annoying. To me it's a major bug and should be fixed as soon as possible, you've just have to deal with it until then, or play something else while we all wait for an update.

especially in confined spaces. where you can pin a lone enemy to the corner of a wall and blaze him. he'll leave some damage but wont do enough as you have him done and he cant do anything

@hypercannon1 Airblast reflects projectiles and they become minicrits, if you're skilled enough you're practically immune to Soldier's rockets (and sentries), it also reflects jarate, milk, stickies, arrows, granade pipes and flares

Aside from that the Airblast is a damn good tool to control the movements of your opponents, as you can nail them against walls, or the ground,or keep your distance, very useful specially against Scouts who jump a lot and deal 100+ damage at close range

If you ask me, the pyro is a combination of all 3 sets of classes, offence, defence, and support.

Offence: He takes out enemies faster than most classes.

Deffence: He's good at taking out spys, scouts, and snipers.

Support: He can swithc tatics at any given moment.

It really isn't even the same game anymore. Its all about slow paced deathmatch style battles instead of face paced capture the flag. Offensive capabilities were nerfed, in turn promoting turtling. Advanced movement techniques were removed reducing the games depth. weapons removed reducing depth, ect...
