Genesis/Mega Drive was the pinnacle of Sega's success, but DKC hurt it so bad that it lost the console war, and it's next two consoles failed miserably. Donkey Kong was Nintendo's "ace in the hole".

Hell yeah..I remember once that heavy drum beat rhythm picked up it gave me goosebumps with anticipation for this title, a truly defining moment of the Super Nintendo era. Think I will shed out 800 Wii Points to get this on the Virtual Console finally...been thinking about it, seeing this just pushed that urge to the limit. Cheers!

It's a shame Nintendo own the Donkey Kong License because if they didn't maybe rare could do a remake of DKC 1 2 and 3 with better 3D like graphics but keeping it a side scroller (like Street Fighter IV is 3D but keeps the 2D element)

No it's not a shame. Nintendo invented Donkey Kong so naturally they own the licence. Besides Rare these days sucks hard, key members left the company for new challenges years ago and Rare hasn't done anything great in nearly 10 years. Dude out of all of them this console war was legendary.
