In retrospect, Korea is considered a third world country; how starcraft became professional there like we have football is because of the low economy and lack of athletic sports that could be aired in the korean country. Starcraft just happened to be the game of choice because of the skill and expertise required to micromanage, think, react, and defeat your opponent. It's like chess on another broader plane of existance. If your a SC Progamer living in South Korea, your like another Tom Brady.

If they are getting addicted to games, skipping school, and throwing away their future, then that's sad. But Boxer earns $300,000 U.S. a year just playing starcraft. He has tons of fans, tons of money, a DVD set featuring his plays, and voted the greatest professional gamer of all time. This is his job and he has succeeded. Sure, playing starcraft doesn't serve any "greater good," but does that mean Tiger Woods is lame for wasting his life trying to hit golf balls into holes?
