1. How do i select a bone and then apply weight paint it, Because right now, i go to my armature in object mode, select 1 bone and go to my object but it deselects my bone.
2. how do i fully remove all the heat of 1 bone, because i have some details in my object that are pretty hard to reach by hand but i don't want them to move with my bone so i want to start over with painting.
3. is there a way to see the vertices while weight painting?
@fullgrown31 Sorry, but that character is being used in my upcoming IOS/Android game. I keep saying I am going to do it, but I promise that soon I will be posting some of the basic models, scenes and other files to help people get started. i am just so swamped with projects that my website is the last thing I have had time to work on.
@bugzilla2001 hey! i know ur making a game with unity and among other things, but can i ask, which is better, or more powerful, like which can handle more polygons, scripts, and logic bricks, blender or unity? and can you make games like, rune factory frontier, monster hunter, and other jrpgs with low graphics(since i'm asian). im sorry for asking too much. but it would help if you reply.
@lazicful Well, Multires is used mostly for sculpting and texture painting. Look for tutorials on baking normals to get the detail from your multires object onto a lowres object. I have only used these rigging techniques with the Subsurf Modifier.
I was wondering if you would like to weight paint my model? Im making a game and the only part im having trouble with is weight painting. I know how to do it, but it always looks like crap when I try to do it. If you would like to just let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.
When I partially paint an area, like having it light blue or green, it still affects it as though it's fully painted and doesn't blend smoothly and get's some really ugly effects :|
The framerate is off for this video so when you're talking sometimes the cursor isn't moving. So I get confused as to where you are clicking. I don't suppose you could post a redo with better framerate so that we noobs can tell where you're clicking.
yea but how do you select the armature you want to change the bone heat to when in the weight paint mode. because when im in the weight paint mode and try to select a armature it just goes back to object mode
This one is not as good as your other two rigging tutorials. Maybe it is just bandwidth slowdown on my internet connection, but the mesh never animated. Sometimes when you were talking about selecting something in the weight paint panel the cursor did not move.
there are afew things you missed with weight painting... one is the "F" key which turns on "masking" which stops overspray. go into edit mode, hide things that you don't want to see while your weight painting and select the areas you want to be able to paint on then when in weight paint mode press "F" and it will make it so that your selections are highlighted and the hidden stuff disappears. you will need to turn it off when you want to select a bone tho. This makes it WAY more accurate.
but you should really fix the audio to make it stereo. If you use virtualdub (free software) to compress your videos just go to "audio>full procesing mode" and "audio>conversion> and select stereo under channels" - that should fix the audio in video such as yours. Then just choose compression of audio (i suggest mp3) and choose compression for video (h264 or xvid at 2-3k bitrate), save as avi and upload to youtube (will be HD) :)
Wow. I was just working on the rigging tutorial today, and realized that I needed weight painting. And zip-a-dee-do-dah, you just put this up yesterday.
You know, since you have armor on that model you can just go through and separate those object from the mesh (Ctrl+P) and then parent them to the bones.
Yes. You can do that as well. I personally prefer to have everything in one model if possible. For me it is easier to manage. Again, just a personal preference there. Also, I did that to illustrate the manually assigning of weights.
That appears when you parent bones that are not physically touching each other. It provides a useful visual cue. I don't see any option to turn this off in the current version of Blender.
um, my bones move out of synch. Do you know what's wrong?

@gunhugger16 Sounds like you messed something up in your Blender User Preferences. Probably have the Emulate Numberpad option checked.

You have to have the armature already in Pose mode before you start doing this. Sorry if I forgot to mention that.
