  • Great tones. I've seen you play through this rig several times on the Melissa tours. Always sounds great.

  • BADASS ! as it gets , marshall is done for lol ! Very cool have to have it !

  • Amazing amp. Does just about every tone I'd use in recordings or live. Very cool. Wonder if the price is as cool though...

  • how did you pushed your amp at 2:40 ? .. does the PT100 has a boost switch or manually increased the volume?

  • @MrNebelful I just bumped up the preamp gain a bit. There's also a boost switch. The tone you are referring to has the boost in and gain probably was on 5 or so

  • @sinasl1 Thanks man .. awesome amp. got a chance to try it !! cheers !

  • Pete - You say that prior to this head, you used multiple amps and switched between them. What where those amps?

  • Hi Pete,

At 7:49 you mention that the tube boost is switched in. Where is the switch for this? Is the tube boost the same thing as Ch. 3? Or is there a boost that engages for Ch.2/Ch.3? I'm trying to figure out the layout of the amp. Thanks!

  • Can someone please tell me which songs are the one @ 5:25 and 9:30?

I know the last one is Van Halen but the first one still can't remember

For the life of me I can't remember.... Oh Dear.... lol!

  • @Mastersonics The VH song is "Someone get me a Doctor". I think the other song is an early Aerosmith song.

  • @Mastersonics The one at 5:25 is shake a leg by AC/DC.

  • @bigman12583 Thanks...!

  • Incrivel o som desse amp, eu tenho um pedal CAE e ja acho otimo o som dele, o som desse amp ficou demais com essa mistura de fender e marshall, parabens ficou otimo o video - muito rock pra vc

  • @superbeavo... trolling much?

  • @superbeavo all I can is say is I hope your playing is much better than your judge of talent. If you cannot tell by this clip and Pete's others how good he is then you my friend have a strange sense of what talent is.

  • great amp and great demo but it doesn't quite nail the john sykes tone and that tone is part of the reason that album was killer...

  • great amp and great demo but it doesn't quite nail the john sykes tone and that tone which is part of the reason that album was killer...

  • Pete, Love your sig amp. Really like the sound of your '59 LP with the BB's 1 and 2. Just watched a clip of your solo with M. Etheridge in B/W. Same guitar, different pickups. Xroads? So, for the same tunes in this vid which would you prefer? And would they handle the tunes done with the Habenero. Gotta switch out my BB pros. They don't do those tones well. Not articulate and smooth enough.

  • great sounding amp and fucking epic King's X riff man love that band

  • Tone monster!!!

  • ..i's Dave Friedman Marsha amp on the floor? GREAT AMP

  • pete you are a great guitarist, I wanted to ask you if you use any noise gate?

when you play with LP black, listening to a lot of noise .. as you remove when you play live? I hope your answer thanks

  • ACM-1-PT

  • I'm very interested in seeing your take on "Somebody" by Fernando Miyata from the end of this video. Can you do a video of your flavor of the song? The 10 seconds of the song with a tease. haha

  • anything against fender or is it just a price thing?

  • that thing sounds sweet

  • Pete, what speaker do you have in your Bogner 1x12? thanks!

  • Holy shit, dude. Was that your take on Use Somebody at the end of the video by Fernando Miyata. This is one badass amp, beats the hell outa my Line 6. Ima be pissed if its cheaper too.

  • @axeguitar1 definintly not cheeper

  • pete can you please tell me the color and the wood combination of your suhr strat.

  • Hey Peter, you rock bro! What year is that Marshall head in the bottom right corner of the video?

  • What would be the 3 amps u would select if u were stander on a island w electric(excluding the shur CAA 100) plus a details on there purpose.

Oh and the fastest land animal?

    Thank u.

  • Oh that's why. Lol u have a custom mod that does it all .. So versatility is the reason this amp would be with u on the island. Makes sense.

So again what would be "the amp" or let's say if u could have 3.. And there purpose.

    This REALLY helps us dude!!!

  • Hi Pete,

I'm already a CAA user (Standard and Classic Plus) and I'm considering to get a PT50.

I was wandering if there's any tone difference between the PT100 and the PT50 due the different power section...I could aspect little less low end response, I'm wrong?

Thanks for the very extensive demo here...and see you on HRI!

    Dave

  • Sounds like what i want,good demo

  • Good demo, Great range with no mods, I like that feedback control feature.

Looks like a Marsha or a Naked on the floor behind you. Dave makes amazing stuff.

  • peter when using the attenuator and the effects loop are you turning the power amp level all the way up ?

  • @bradly373 no, I usually run the loop master on 2-3 and the amp channel masters are on 4-5. That's loud at that point!

  • Have you ever let the Axe-FX and the PT-100 have a fight? I'd be interested in the differences. Can you model the PT100 sounds using an AXE-FX

  • Hi Pete..are all these clips recorded through the Scumback speakers?..they sound awesome!..

  • If you A/B the clean channel of this amp with, say, a Fender Bassman, how would the two compare? I'm sort of looking for a simple EL34 amp with a great clean and a really powerful but not too compressed lead. Is that possible? Can this amp do that?

  • Jeez that amp is golden

  • Nice demo Pete! Lots of nice tones in that amp. I'd love it if you did a nice demo of the Marsha head. There just aren't enough good clips/videos of that amp.

  • Pete, your demos are top notch brutha. Love it. I'm a fan but I'm even more of a fan after watching this vid. Anyone that plays a King's X riff in an amp, guitar, pedal, etc demo video is more than alright with me. Thanks.

    - Bill

  • what song is at 4:37

  • @Taygoo15 Same Old Song And Dance by Aerosmith

  • Absolutely killer amp, Pete! Congrats man!!

  • what type of tubes come stock in this amp from suhr ? I would like to know the manufacturer if anyone knows. Pete you play great and are way too kind for taking the time to give us these great vids !! Ps.. thanks for the Eruption vid too !!

  • @jem7772 it's JJ el34's and 1 jj 12ax7 in the 1st slot and the rest of the 12ax7's are chinese.

  • @sinasl1 thanks for the reply Pete. So the jj in v1 and the rest chinese, does that include chinese for the phase inverter & effects loop also or a couple of jj in there ? Thanks man, youre the Best !!!!

  • @sinasl1 Hi! I have this head too! Really Great Stuff!! I wonder if you cant tell me what kind of JJ is in V1 ?

Is it a gold or normal one? Ecc83s or Ecc803s?

    Thx.

  • Great amp! I got mine yesterday!

  • 1 of the coolest classic rock tone!!! evrrr!!!

  • How does it compare to the Bogner 20th Anniversary Ecstacy? I really like the versatility of my Egnater Mod 50.

  • what kind of pickups in the black les paul

  • @bailey12444 It's a WB Hapanero you are hearing in the black LP

  • one of the best guitar clips on the Tube...I think I heard a whole new Vertical Horizon album at 3:02...Pete, you've really given me serious thought about this incredibly versatile amp..thanks

  • I love what I'm hearing. Our local dealer is supposed to be getting one of these, soon. I can't wait. Peter, could you tell me what the footswitch for this amp is like? What are the controls? Thanks!

  • Hey. I own one of these bad boys. Holy bejeezus it is absolutely amazing. Such a wide range of tones!! Check out my channel...I am using this amp in them. As far as the foot switch goes, there are only 2 buttons. One switches from Channel 1 (clean/crunch) to Channel 2 (overdrive). The other one switches from Channel 2 to Channel 3 (Boost). The foot switch is incredibly easy to use.

  • @MrLespaul22 Thanks. I was afraid it might be so. Although I understand the concept of the amp, I was hoping the footswitch had 3 buttons for the first, second and third channel each separately. Thanks once again.

  • Ohh well you really don't need 3 switches at all. You can go to any channel of the amp. On the original OD100, there were only 2 channels. Pete worked w/John Suhr to create the third channel so there could be a boost channel. The only way you can really see if you like this amp is to try one out.

  • @MrLespaul22 Yeah, I understand what you're saying, it was just a thought. Doesn't really matter anyway, it's just a footswitch. I'll be trying one of these in February as soon as it ships!

  • niice!! you will not be disappointed at all.

  • Let me tell you guys, I tried this amp head yesterday, It blew my mind. Honestly the best tone I have ever heard in my life from an amp. When you strum soft it's clean (on gain channel), when you strum hard it gives a the gain. Really dynamic. Really great engineering feat here. I loveeee it, too bad it was pretty expensive but it is probably well worth it. Peter Thorn! Best amp model ever.

  • Hi Charles,

In this video, I am just plugged straight into the head, I'm using the Faustine attenuator to knock off a bit of volume (and also to reduce the 100w output a bit because I'm plugged into a 1-12" and don't want to blow the speaker), then straight into the Scumback M75 loaded cab. No pedals! No eq or anything added it's just mics on the cab straight into mic pre/ my interface, recorded right into imovie on a mac.

  • Hi Pete, I need to buy a 1x12 cabinet and I was thinking about a Bogner Shiva 1x12, the cube or a Suhr 1x12. I play mostly 70's (Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple, etc) and 80's (Whitesnake, Ozzy, Van Halen, etc). Whic one would you recommend? Thanks, Arthur

  • Hi Pete

Could you explain your signal flow please include the pedals and FX you are using?

    Incredible tone

I'm thinking of buying one but need to know a little more on the pedal switching and your signal flow.

    thanks

    Charles

  • Hi.

    Nice amp!

Tell me please the differents between

the pt ant the od 100sh+

    Which amp has more gain?

    Many thanks

  • @SuperSoula The "SH" is only an option you can have on the clean channel of any OD100. It's a darker sound with earlier breakup in the gain. The + might stand for the OD100Standard+. The + has been added when an update of the OD100 was improving the gain section, before it use to be called only OD100STRD with a less high gain sound or more "crunchy". I tried the old one, it wasn't my cup of tea I went to the SE+. More darker, metal, compressed. STRD+,SE+, PT100 are equal on gain. I'll PM you.

  • The TC Electronic Nova system videos demos taken at SAE, what pickups are on that Suhr telecaster? They sound great! Especially when coil taped like you did around 8:00 on that video. I got a Suhr Modern, I would like to have those pickups that are in your guitar on my modern :-)

  • Hi Pete, awesome review! Could you please describe difference in gain/tone/voice of PT-100 and Marsha 100?

  • If I got that amp, I don't think I could possibly need any other amp. Ever.

  • best demo ive seen ever

  • thanks for the great demo, pete. how would the PT-50 sound different from the PT-100, aside from having a bit less clean headroom? I'm in need of something for home recording and small gigs. I could go with a Badger, but I like the idea of having multiple channels versus boost/distrotion pedals. Any advice you can give would be appreciated! Thanks again for a through demo!

  • ya I'd get a 50- you'll never need the volume/headroom of the PT100 for small clubs and recording. The 50 will be plenty!

  • what egnater modules do you keep in the m4? when you're using them you can't use effects in your loop, correct?

  • I use the M4 with a switching system- i use a w/d/w rig so I'm not using any effects in the loop but by incorporating an external switcher, you could easily switch the M4 and an external effects unit in line into the loop, no problem. It's not really easy, but you could set up a cool rig using a RJM or GCX loop switcher. I use Dave Friedman at Rack Systems in North Hollywood to do all this type of work- he built the rack you see the head sitting on in the vid.

  • sos muy buen guitarrista tenes mucha onda!!!!!te felicito!!!!un abrazo de argentina!!!te mando un video de mi banda asi si tenes ganas lo ves un abrazo!!!

  • Du må snakke engelsk her ikke sant?

  • Neida, men ingen forstår det om du snakker norsk. Med få unntak riktignok :)

  • I HAVE TO HAVE A PT100! I have a Badger 30 now. You use the scumback, many people use the scumback on the Suhr Badger 30 ... What difference is it with this one m74 compared to the Celestion V30?

  • Hi, the M75 is woodier, more "vintage" sounding, not as upper-mid cutting as a V30. V30's are cool too, I just love the Greenback sound.

  • Oh natural........

Thanks for all your posts. Inspiring to watch. umm, when you need a drummer that can get behind anything, lemme know.

  • magical 64

  • bscfo, I'm playing reasonably loud on this demo, I am using my Faustine attenuator to shave off 4 db or so.

The thing in the rack is an Egnater M4 preamp... I use it with a switcher into the PT100 head (via the efx loop return) when I want to get alternate sounds Eg. a Voxy clean or crunch.

  • Sounds great Pete, nice work on that amp. How loud are you for the demos? What is that effect in your rack with all the white knobs?

  • Hey pete, what brand power tubes are you using in this head? thanks

  • Comment removed

  • Rebrand JJ power (EL34) and preamp. The V2 (12AX7) is chinese though.

  • Hi

A friend of mine plays the amp with a 4x12with Greenbacks.

Fantastic. Best rocksound , i´ve ever played and heard.

You can´t go wrong with the greenbacks, if you play a 4x12.

  • Hi me again

I just wonder how it sound and responds with greenbacks speakers?

    Is it a good match?

  • Can you demonstrate the NFB control only please?

I am very interested in this amp!!!

    It sounds fantastic!!!

  • The Marsha is sitting right there in the behind you!!!!!!! Please do a demo video. There is very little info on that amp and no videos that I know of.

  • great sounds!! love it

  • Great job...thanks!

  • Thanks for a terrific and informative demo, Pete... I was recently auditioning for a band using the PT-100 thru a V30 loaded cab, and the Suhr Modern w/ Aldrich p/u's, and the other guitar player asked if I had a chorus pedal on it, the clean was so 3-dimensional. I'm tempted to investigate the Scumbacks, after hearing your vid.

  • The Scumbacks are great! 2 M75's might be nice blended with 2 V30s....

  • Great demo, Pete! Your hair's getting longer, too! Rawk on!! :)

  • very impressive, the van halen tone is pretty much dead one, but i want to hear the brown sound from VH1...

  • That's a BMF amp !!!!!!

    Really nice

  • are you using and attenautor

  • What that riff at 9.32

  • Somebody Get Me a Doctor, Van Halen II, track 3.

How could anybody not know classic van halen?

  • Bravo

Finally someone had the sense to do a demo if their amp with a real mic instead of a 50 cent camera mic

Nice Marshall sound. This is should be a note anyone who things they need a D pedal. Pure Amp sound is harder to play but sounds a thousand times better.

  • Very cool demo...really dig the King X in there.. Thanks Peter

  • Hi man! I see you in Personal Fest in Argentina with Chris Cornell, i love your tone, you rock dude, let me congrats, (sorry for me english, really sucks). I musician too, i like the very loud sound, here in Argentina we don´t have the oportunity of test a lot of amps, pedals and guitars and i have a question for you. When the show with Cornell starts with "Let me drown" the sound kick my brain.. what are u using? i remember a Gibson Explorer, what picks you have in that? Thanks you master!! =)

  • sounds awesome! do you have the amp plugged into your computer? or is it straight recording from the amp to the mic?

  • Very impressive, Amp sounds amazing!

  • wow, one of the best amp demos I have watched recently, great playing!!

  • I think I'm in love with channel 2. The "Shook me all night long" and "Woman From Tokyo" tone where superb, as it was the tone you use with Chris, wich I was fortunate to hear here in Chile at Cornell/Patton concert. Breathtaking!

Great idea to have an onboard boost, so you don't have to use the classic "tubescreamer" for tighter sounds.

I think the high gain though it's not so great as the channel 2, but it's a matter of taste. I would prefer an Engl or a Mesa for that.

    Great demo, rock on!

  • wow great playing pete!! i love your tone with this head.

  • Great sounding amp. Your a great guitarist too.

  • Man this is awesome you should do a few hendrix lessons. Great playing!

  • Can you do a video where you demo every guitar you own? That would be swell.

  • How much is the amp, head n all. What white snake song is that

  • Still of the Night

  • Love the sound !!! What else besides the amp and of course you great technique are we hearing !!! Effects etc ?? You re the goods Man, way cool !!!

  • no effects, just guitar-amp-cab-mic

  • hey AWSOME MAN COMPLETELY AWSOME. could you tell me what type of pedals you are using. Much obliged thanks AWSOME MAN!!!!!!!!

  • At the start of the vid it says "no effects used"

  • Kickass review Pete..good job man!!!

  • Hey Pete! Great playing, great tones from the PT100. Hard to believe all this sound from a 1x12 cab...dry! I have Scumbacks myself and love them. What is on the footswitch for this head button wise? Thanks for sharing your talent andfor showing this great Suhr/CAA PT100 head. Looking into one of these myself after seeing and hearing this.

  • Absolutely kick ass!

  • Nice tones Pete. I especially liked the VH and Aerosmith/Led Zep tones you were doing. Those really sounded spot on. I know your a Gsystem user and was wondering if you have used this along with the Gsys at all? I currently own a Gsys and am trying to search for another head that plays nicely with the G. Hope all is well!

  • Sounds killer! Is that a Friedman Marsha I see on the floor? Again, great playing and tone Pete!

  • Thanks Pete for another great video!

I picked up the Suhr Badger 18 because of your demo and now Suhr/CAA PT100 is on my radar to get.

But i will go for the Suhr/CAA PT50 instead.

  • Killer Pete! Excellent playing, and a beautiful sounding amp. Very versatile getting Fender clean AND what sounds like authentic vintage Marshall sag! BUT, it does cost $3,300!

  • very fucking nice

  • :) :) :)

  • This amp is badass (you have KILLER chops too), now im not sure if i want an egnater mod 50... what tonal differences do you perceive, if any, between the pt100 and 50?

  • I think Pete's demos are the best I've seen on YouTube, very thorough and interesting to watch.

  • I enjoyed Dogman very much!

  • Man is this an actual Pete Thorn signature?? I can´t find it on the Suhr homepage??

  • Forgot to say, awesome playing and demoing as usual. This is how all gear demos should be like.

  • Yessir. they have it on their amp pricelist, somewhere on their website...

  • Excellency.

  • whats the name of the band your in

  • I play with Chris Cornell, and Don Henley.

  • It sounds like a bunch of different amps through the same speaker. Truly an awesome amp!

    Good job Pete!

  • amazingly versatile amp, John Suhr is simply a master craftsman. Pity by the time these reach the uk they will probably double in price, still worth it though! ;-)

  • Damn Pete! great sounding amp, when will this be out?

  • Nice! Can you get it in a 50 watt version?

  • yessir

  • Great amp! Wow.

  • WOMAN FROM TOKYO!!! love you even more now pete! hahaha

  • Wow, very nice amp. How much do one of those things run?

  • aaw perfect sounds

  • Cool amp, great demo!!

  • Very Nice,,Amp is another great one, im selling my JCM 800 soon I'll give the PT 100 a look, also the guitars are nice. and dude update your website at least the one you show on your profile page, last update looks like from Jan 08.. : )

  • I know I know.. too much to do, not enough hours in the day
