  • my mind), so when I see this portfolio I get scared as I don't have that much experience in art, I have some anatomy drawings I've made, but nothing else :/ I thought foundation courses are for people who have no experience but it seems like I made a mistake thinking that. So what do you reckon I should do?

  • Hopefully you would answer my question, I'm seeing this portfolio and I get quite scared because well - I'm in grade 12 and only realized last summer that I want to study CGI and 3D Animation/Modelling. To get accepted to these courses I need experience in art and so this is why I'm aiming to apply to some foundation courses in art. The problem is that even though I do like art I never took Art at school because I never thought I'll need it (wanted to study Medicine until I drastically change...

  • So scared for uni after this!!! Hahahaaa

  • nice peace of art works! impressive imagination!

  • It was interesting that you decided that she was a graphic designer rather than a fine artist just by looking at her work, it would be a great help to me if you could spare 10mins and have a look at my youtube videos of my artwork and let me know what you think I should be 'doing'. At present I simply sell commissioned pieces of art, but if there was something else you think I should be doing with my skill it would be incredibly helpful to know. I also have a website creakycastle .co .uk

  • That's quite interesting, you didn't seem to like all of the work yet you still let her in, she should have been advised not to include the life drawings really, but no doubt a teacher of some kind told her she should. Had I known it was that easy to get into university I would never have felt so intimidated and applied. Instead I went my own way and i'm not thousands of pounds in debt.

  • To Revrocks. What a vile thing to say about a young peprsons artwork. You must give me your name and if you ever apply to my course I will be sure to file your application in the bin.

  • @revorocks123 As I have just said what a vile thing to say about a young persons artwork. this is the problem with the internet and posting things at random in that petty idiots like you feel they can say anything. I wonder if you have ever done anything meaningful with your life? I doubt it.

  • @foundationstudies hi, im currently an art student studying in London so sorry for the outburst, im quite a competitive person. i didnt mean to cause this much offence, but then again, you cant go through life assuming that everyones opinions will be the same, especially in the art world, which as you know is a very verbal place. i would hope that someone on a foundation course would be mature to realise art critisim is highly subject and not everyone will agree on what is good and what is bad

  • Dear Vizardvin, come and join the real world where people expect and receive constructive criticism

  • @foundationstudies I feel that this is not constructive criticism as the whole thing seemed to be about her work being bad or wrong or the fact that she is not right for this course. I'd like to add my personal opinion that this work is amazing and it was more like talking about her behind her back to the rest of the world.

  • Now I know that I should step up on my work!!! Thanks for posting!!

  • Really useful...But yeah, some of the criticism is quite harsh & bitchy

  • what a bitch!...

  • I am glad that I didn't take this course, because this man does appear to have a clue about what he's looking at.

  • thanks! really helpful :)

getting my portfolio together for foundation at the moment and this has offered a load of good tips (y)

  • thanks for the video but next time if you could, could you possibly get closer to the work or try to look down at the work, as it is sometimes it is hard to see the different materials thanx but a great video and v. interesting

  • I thought we could only put up to 25 pieces in? That looks like a lot of work in there.

  • @pseudonamed I think it depends on your definition of "piece" some people refer to the collected frescoes in one italian church, chapel or cathedral as a piece.

  • tutor it qiut mild

  • ty for the vid. i just hope they like mine.

  • Thank you for this video. It's really helped me understand what lecturers have been saying about portfolios this year. :)

    Cheers.

  • Thank you for the video it is really great and it helps allot me.
