There have been a few cases of burglary where offenders get off free and the home owner ends up in jail because of "intend to use a deadly weapon" or use of "excessive force".

It's a good law which has seen positive outcomes but it can equally be used by criminals.

We had the same problem in Vancouver in the mid to late 90s with an influx of Hondurans and Somalians seeking refugee status fleeing due to "political reasons".
