I'm usually a fan of even some of the commonly listed worst gimmicks and I always try to find the best in them and usually can. This Mantaur, though, I cannot find one good quality about the character. Completely awful

He wasn't awful, but if he'd been something "normal", like Mean Mike in black trunks or Hulk Hallick in a yellow singlet, he'd be about as memorable as Buck Quartermaine, Dave Wagner or Bruiser Mastino. This gimmick rocked, even if it was corny. Kinda like KISS.
Quartermain has one hell of a mullet, you gotta give him that. The mall rats must have been all over him back then. Mantaur though - the guy fucking MOOED in the ring! And he actually used a decent suplex! But the gimmick sucked, no one said HE sucked. It's not like he was Mighty Joe Thunder or anything. Wrestlecrap lists him as one the worst GIMMICKS ever, not the worst wrestlers ever, so I hope that makes some of the YouTubers happy.

Don't forget, the WWF wanted Stone Cold to use the name "Chilly McFreeze" at one time also. About the Minotaur reference: a guy named Steve DiSalvo (who was "Sadistic Steve" in WWF at about the same time Mantaur was there) worked in WCW as the Minotaur. He was also in AWA as a big roided-out Native American before that.
