i didn't like cameron diaz's acting bcuz she just seemed like a heartless mother in the movie & if u read the book, somehow she's more motherly.like in the movie wen they were gonna go out as a family & kate didnt want 2 bcuz she felt ugly, her mom waznt like,"just get ur ass out of the house" she waz more understanding.
i thought the film was OK, but it really didn't do the book justice. For one they missed out Julia, who was for me massively important in developing campbell alexander as a character. and the ending was quite anticlimatic as the book had the twist of anna dying instead which was less obvious and very cleverly written.
I appreciated the film, but I was disappointed in the ending. It veered so sharply away from the twist at the end of the novel, I felt sort of let down. Overall, though, had I not read the book- I would say this movie is an outstanding drama. Taken apart from the original material, it is a solid piece of work and well worth watching. Thank you for the review too, it's good to know people still enjoy movies that make them think and question.
You're review of this movie was spot on Manny. I loved this movie so much it had me in tears too. It is one of those movies you never forget and want to share with others. Very good performances too by all the cast. Mabuhay!!!
Nothing against the actors because they did do an awesome job but I just can't get past that part! Even Jodi Piccoult said she was unhappy with the movie ending but had no control! I honestly cried more in the book than the movie!
throughout the movie these girls who had obviously not read the book were bawling their eyes out...I was thinking why are they crying...Kate doesn't die!!! I get that books are different than movies but the book had an epilogue that essentially made the entire book and the movie completely left that out! For me that was just too much (I have read many books and never disliked their movies but this one just went too far)...
the happiest part (but so happy it was sad and i cried like a baby) was when kate went to the dance thing with taylor. and when everyone was like you look so pretty and she did she was amazing im tearing up just writing this..
I saw this movie with my older sister in the theater, i didn't think i'd cry, i never cry during movies. But as we watched it we both realized this movie was every i and my grandma are going/went through. basically. I'm a very sick kid. i'm 16, and i have a ton of medical problems. my grandmother had cancer. i know what the people are going through in this movie. Me and my sister were balling out eyes out. It was a very very good movie.
@GoldenCurtOffice the title of the book came from jesse tho wen he zaid something like "wat,am i my sister's keeper now?" so i thought he waz her keeper
Okay, if you read the book and compared the book to the movie, then most would say the movie was not that good. But if you judge the movie on its own then its real good. I read the book and I personally like the book way better.
The performances are strong across-the-board. Cameron Diaz, best known for appearing in romantic comedies and lighthearted fare, shows dramatic chops in taking on a role that requires range and depth.Perhaps the most memorable sample of acting comes from Joan Cusack, who provides a heartbreaking interpretation of a bereaved judge. The pain in her eyes, which occasionally pool with tears, cannot fail to move. If there's an Oscar nomination lurking in this film, it should go to Cusack.
I read the book. I end up crying at the ending. i hadn't expected that it was Anna who will die in a car accident. the scene at the hospital when they were about to pull off the life support, all the while it was katie her parents were saving all the photos and making a good memory-- when it was Anna who is going to die first. i love the author for such a moving story.
I saw the movie last night. I cried so much, because my best friend had Luekaemia and it reminded me so much of her. She's alright now, but it still made me think of her. It's such a beautiful movie, and I loved it.
People who say it's just beggin you to cry should keep their comments to them selves. They just wouldn't know, and sound really stupid, I bet they don't have a sibling or child that has a life threatening illness, so untill u have experienced it you should keep your mouths shut
people who are saying OMG THE BOOK IS SO MUCH BETTER!!! need to get over it.. most books that go into movie the book is better.. But this is a beautiful movie with amazing actors!!! get over the fact that the book might be better and just injoy the movie!!!!
still have trouble seeing the mothers point of view on kidney donation....if something goes wrong during the trasnplant both girls could die? what if anna's other kidney fails later on? what if the kidney donation works but kate dies from the cancer anyways? and how far is mom willing to go with this donation stuff? kidney, lung, liver heart? i mean seriously.
the chick with lucimia dies. actualy i like when they end mvies diffrently from the books b/c then its not so predictable............something i wish harry potter 6 should have learned from
*spoiler* In the book Katie didn't convice Anna to sue her parents, she did that on her own will, then Anna wins the case and Campbell is driving her home on a rainy night and they get in a car crash, Campbell and Judge live but Anna goes braindead, Katie gets Anna's kidney but Anna dies, in the epilogue Katie's talking about how the tranplant almost failed but didn't she hadn't relapsed since she keeps anna in her which makes her "her sister's keeper"
hey girl. may i just correct that in the book, it was Katie who urged Anna to sue their parents. Katie had accepted that she's dying. She doesn't want Anna to suffer like she had been.
yeah i havent seen it but most of the reviews seem to say it would be good if not for direction that tries to get you to cry every two seconds, and a few say it kinda avoids some medical issues they could have gotten deeper into.
theyre not begging u to cry u idiot. its just that most people with hearts cry with situations dealing with death. its a sad situation but the creators of the movie handled it beautifully
oh no...the ending of the film is different from the book, so I don't want to spoil it to those who haven't seen the film yet...and I actually like the film's ending better...email me later :)

Anna is a lot more mature in the book, they make her seem more like a child in the movie which for me was a little disappointing

Hey baby, what's your sign?
Cancer.
Oh, you're a Cancer?
No, I'm a Leo, but I have cancer.
I like wanted to kill myself when Kate dies. It's the worst part in the movie me and my best friend Dominique cried for ages after.. =[

I cried. Balled. As did my dad. Haha lol.
I read the book and loved it, they changed the ending in the movie, but surprisingly this new ending is quite fitting.

In the movie anna is kate's "keeper" but in the book is kate who is annas siseter's keeper since anna dies and kate literally had anna inside of her.
