In fact plenty of writing on Marx is not per se on his political program, but on his economic, societal, sociological ideas. In fact Marx is seen as one of the founders of modern sociology, describing society in terms of factors that influence its dynamics. But all too often Marxism is just a conflated term, mixing the political Marx with the analytical or philosophical one and doing that to people who discuss those aspects as if they discuss political theory.

Marx and Bakunin had lots of synnergies, but politically Marx won and Bakunin lost. Marx influence indeed turned out to be vastly greater than Bakunin's on the actual political dynamics. Now I happen to think that Bakunin's critique of authoritarian socialism was spot on, but that doesn't change anything. But Marxism has come to stand for many things that Bakunin too agreed to, such as the class model of stratification, Marx economic analysis etc.

I am a left anarchist, but it must be admitted that.their has been far more Marxist scholarship written than Anarchist scholarship. This perhaps results from the Marxian theoretical models to explain historical change and it's capacity to offer explanations for capitalism and its crises. Anarchist theory doesn't possesses the doctrines of historical determinism that generate a comparable degree of scholarship.

I actually disagree. Proudhon had his entire philosophy of progress, his own critique of capitalism etc. Plenty to discuss there. In fact much discussion does take place on the issue, its just not in academic circles. And thats Proudhon alone, I'm being generous enough to group "anarchist theory" together but even amongst anarchists theres huge disagreement. For instance the natural state of man, Kropotkin and Bakunin disagreed on that.

Well yes, but Marx has had a very significant impact upon world history. People have killed and been killed in VERY large numbers on account of what he wrote. Adam Smith on the other hand? As for the anarchists, they've made a lot of noise but, it seems to me, had very little impact.

From your video It could be seen that 47 seconds were dedicated to showing Adam Smith and Keanes, put together, and the rest of it - 1 min. 12 seconds - to works by Marx and about Marx. I'd say there is some bias, whether the university's or yours... lol

i didnt group adam smith with keynes. there was a lot more Keynes than hayek or smith put together. I put hayek and smith together because that would make the freemarket group appear even bigger. so i was trying to be as fair as possible. I also rushed over althusser.

This no bias is as it should be, because students should be able to read differing economic views, which would give them a good general knowledge, which would make them useful members of society.
