@InvincibleNumanist they didn't come first on the series of tubes. (yeah, fuck tim berners-lee and the packet-switching he rode in on!) gtfo my youtube, you effeminate wanker. keep up the good videos, tho.
so It wasn't just me when I saw the marxist and Keynsian shit outnumber the more Anarchist and classical shit over at my community college at Lake Jackson TX, or CSU fort collins?
In fact plenty of writing on Marx is not per se on his political program, but on his economic, societal, sociological ideas. In fact Marx is seen as one of the founders of modern sociology, describing society in terms of factors that influence its dynamics. But all too often Marxism is just a conflated term, mixing the political Marx with the analytical or philosophical one and doing that to people who discuss those aspects as if they discuss political theory.
this is true. I think most of these books though were about his economics and political theory. Not philosophy. To be fair this really was a bit of a NickBravo type video to make but meh what the hell.
@InvincibleNumanist I don't mind too much. I am a little worried by the sort of ill-founded anti-academic and anti-intellectual streams of thought I see quite a bit off. I don't mind people discussing academia etc but it'd be helpful to be more accurate because there are plenty of people who just look for confirmation that academia is full of raging leftists, multiculturalist, relativist, PC feminist marxists commie nazis who secretly plan to take over the planet.
@DanishGreatDane Yeah you claim victimhood. Of course. It's not like you spread shitty ideas, no, it's everybody out there to witchhunt you. You really are that special. Anti-zebra is anti-pedestrian crossing, because of course those pedestrian crossings are stepped on every day! Save the real victims here!
Marx and Bakunin had lots of synnergies, but politically Marx won and Bakunin lost. Marx influence indeed turned out to be vastly greater than Bakunin's on the actual political dynamics. Now I happen to think that Bakunin's critique of authoritarian socialism was spot on, but that doesn't change anything. But Marxism has come to stand for many things that Bakunin too agreed to, such as the class model of stratification, Marx economic analysis etc.
I am a left anarchist, but it must be admitted that.their has been far more Marxist scholarship written than Anarchist scholarship. This perhaps results from the Marxian theoretical models to explain historical change and it's capacity to offer explanations for capitalism and its crises. Anarchist theory doesn't possesses the doctrines of historical determinism that generate a comparable degree of scholarship.
I actually disagree. Proudhon had his entire philosophy of progress, his own critique of capitalism etc. Plenty to discuss there. In fact much discussion does take place on the issue, its just not in academic circles. And thats Proudhon alone, I'm being generous enough to group "anarchist theory" together but even amongst anarchists theres huge disagreement. For instance the natural state of man, Kropotkin and Bakunin disagreed on that.
Well yes, but Marx has had a very significant impact upon world history. People have killed and been killed in VERY large numbers on account of what he wrote. Adam Smith on the other hand? As for the anarchists, they've made a lot of noise but, it seems to me, had very little impact.
@atticana true, but these were pro marx books for the most part. "the black book of communism" or "the open society and its enemies" wasnt among those books.
@atticana Fuck no! We killed lots of people. Don't make us kill you ;)
And if you do make us kill you, we will grant you the feel of rightiousness. Because in the moment of killng you, we will say: "We kill you in the name of Marx". :D
From your video It could be seen that 47 seconds were dedicated to showing Adam Smith and Keanes, put together, and the rest of it - 1 min. 12 seconds - to works by Marx and about Marx. I'd say there is some bias, whether the university's or yours... lol
i didnt group adam smith with keynes. there was a lot more Keynes than hayek or smith put together. I put hayek and smith together because that would make the freemarket group appear even bigger. so i was trying to be as fair as possible. I also rushed over althusser.
And I didn't say you put Adam Smith and Keynes together...
This no bias is as it should be, because students should be able to read differing economic views, which would give them a good general knowledge, which would make them useful members of society.
Shit I know we have tons of Marxist stuff in our library, but I don't know about Anarchist theories. I think I'll do an experiment and see if we have every single one you had in this video and compare the two.
I found the same problem at my local University. There were more books about the New York Yankees than all other baseball teams combined. Librarian tried some cock n bull story about more books having been written about the Yankees. :p
I'm donating my old copy of "The Ego and It's Own" to my local library, if I come back there in say 20 years and see that one person has taken the book out I'd be happy. xD
The bias in and of itself isn't bad. It's just bad how the most available and propagated ideology is incorrect and destructive.

@socrates856 Marxism is not "anti-white" or "anti-nationalist" ideology... it just that Black and Brown Nationalists are using Marxist theory.
They just hijacked his ideas, and there are too many useful white idiots tolerating black racism, black nationalism and black violence
