@tweetyaja Other way around actually. The IBM System/360 came out in 1964, and forty-one years later the Xbox 360 came out. Guess which system will still be talked about in another forty or so years?
I was an IBM 360 operator! WOW! Did we feel like we were on the cutting edge! (Of course there was no 360 software at the time...so, we had to run it in 1401 emulation!)
@btown2011 It was noisy. It could be kind of creepy on night shift operations when you think you are alone and can't hear someone open the computer room door, walk up to your console, and scare the hoohah out of you.
@serverdude1 Being an operator could give you kind of a feeling of power at times. You might not have thought it was so much fun when you had to learn IBM JCL just to run the jobs, handle punch cards, tapes, etc. And when things went wrong, and they did sometimes, it took a lot more than a simple reboot to fix them. Great stuff for its day but it would be cool like driving a team of horses is compared to driving a car.
It was a huge step in time. Small, great nmonics, efficient mathematic operations, simple using and huge random access memory. Perfetly for larger and more complicatet operations. just to imagine, a normal full adder circut needs already about 7 logical switches. A full subtract circut even more.... By the way, The Bongo Song from Safri Duo fits perfectly on this video !

Though it is in the past, watching this video has the effect on me like watching a science-fiction movie.

Wouldn't it have been better with the original soundtrack intact?
