It's a feckin' JOINT filled with WEED.

  • @TimAlkad No, it's not.

  • @Ugotevryfkinnamtaken

    Yes, Yes it is.

  • Reminds me of the Jam Song "Thick as Thieves"

  • The cigarette was naked OK?

  • that blond boy is soooo cute :')

  • Really thought this vid would have 10 times as many as views, hopefully its cos everybodys bought it already

  • pete had a priviledged upbringing tbh, don't know if he is trying to relate the video with his life as a kid.

  • You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out, spliff or cigarette... its blurred because they're about six...

  • its a spliff? not cigarette?

  • great song, shit vid

  • its a cig, you can see the orange coloured filter

  • where is this shot? anyone?

  • @MrLorenzotebano Thamesmead, South East London. Same place that Clockwork Orange and Misfits was filmed. Its a hell hole.

  • i tought they met when they were teens

  • You guys do realise it's not a cigarette right?

  • @TimAlkad

It is a cigarette, England has really strict laws on cigarette advertising, and underage smoking.

  • @thrills120

I live in England. It's not hat strict. It's a spliff. Can you guys not tell that? And the tightness of advertising only came into play in late '07.

  • check out our songs for new indie :D

  • That last line is sooo True... we'll never know.

  • Como los amo

  • this video is amazing! reminds me of me and my mate haha!

  • That last shot is so beautiful but so sad. This song is like a requiem for a best friendship, but it's so much more than that... just beautiful.

  • 0:25 haha just had that for me tea

  • I don't want this song to end

  • Libertines and British culture is the best!

  • who directed this video?

  • i just hate the bunny part :(

    PRETTY AWESOME :D

  • best video ever, so awesome

  • Why is the cigarette blurred out? ಠ_ಠ

  • @MrBlonde221 advertising kids smoking, pretty fucking obvious

  • @isaacgant yeah but I mean who doesn't know is a fucking cigarette??

  • @MrBlonde221 you phethead

  • @MrBlonde221 theres no cigarette...

  • @MrBlonde221 It's illegal for kids to smoke, and the FCC are a bunch of censoring pansies.

  • @Whisper0ak is it?

  • @MrBlonde221

because it's a child so they have to blur it out so that way it "won't" and they can't be blamed for promoting tobacco use in children

  • The bit at the end is AWESOME!!!

  • la petite mort - china town. great undiscovered band.

  • this video is so appropriate for the song. this song pretty much epitomises carl and pete perfectly.

  • like it

  • can't help but associate Pete to the short-haired boy and Carl to the other one :-). anyway, brilliant song, will always glad to listen to it !

  • alguna otra razon por la que adore la musica IN-D

  • god this is how i grew up on a estate , some of things i used to get up to lol good times ... cheers for the memory's guys !

  • How does this song not have 1million views? I've watched this on loop more times than I can count... the view counter is definitely broken. Get with it youtube :P

  • I love this song to the grave

  • @LillyCandyCane LO MEJORRRRRR SEEHHHHHHHH LOS LIBERTINES!!!! XDDDDDDDDD

  • @yanteroses :) I don't understand but okay

  • @LillyCandyCane siii es que hablo español pes.. pero bueno comparto lo mismo son los mejores ..Xddd

  • WTF whit the cigarrete? :S

  • This video reminds me of me and my bro growing up and getting up to all sorts of stuff ! Great video and fantastic song.

  • I hated the Libertines at first but they've definitely grown on me like a fungal infection. Still don't agree with my mates assertion that they are better than The Clash but I suppose there's no accounting for taste haha.

  • @jimmyhayers copy paste

  • Good Track

  • @INDIEE17 fair enough, but your not gonna get much sympathy by commenting on a libertines video..

  • I missed these at leeds, not cause i was watching someone else but because i chose not too. I thought that i would regret it seen as this is probably the first time ive given them a chance but wow im glad i chose to not see these, not my kinder music at all. just my opinion tbh. blink were the best at leeds for me.

  • @INDIEE17 yea u like shit music i can just tell 'that by your name INDIEE

  • @INDIEE17 Who asked ya?

  • @INDIEE17 You've enlightened us all....

  • @INDIEE17 well thanks for that, im sure everyone feels enlightened by your fucking pointless comment.

  • add me on twitter @alekcolt

  • it makes me think about the time I spend with my best friends

  • Pete and Carl hate this video

  • I can always relate too this song and video..

    Such a good track

  • i wish i was a cool as these kids when i was younger

  • @ThomasStillbranch That's not being cool... rather the video shows how care-free we are as children... and having a cig is definitely not cool imo.

  • @SilentAssassin333 My care-free was playing pokemon and eating snack cakes. These young men are running a muck through the city.

  • @ThomasStillbranch lol! My care-free time was when I used to cycle around our town and go exploring places! :)

  • YEAH

  • well will they realise that they r only average without each other, could b legends if they stayed 2gether!

  • Its class!!!

  • there last song before they split up... the song really explains the wole situation between carl and pete... libnertines are simply genius

  • so sad

  • Little Pete and Carl :)

  • This song makes me so sad. I always have to think about my childhood and all those promises you made with lovers and friends,…

…now you see that it wasn't forever, unfortunately.

  • @Zoopersaz im 20 and myn will be forever.. unluckyyy

  • @bendgreat1 what'll be forever?

  • i'm american, but this song still brings about memories and sings to my days of youth and debauchery. the libertines are without equal.

  • are the two boys meant to represent Peter & Carl? I like that.

  • @crazyellie123 No, pete and carl met in there late teens

  • @yetimichael Actually, Pete's older sister was at university and carl was one of her mates, pete went to visit her one day and met carl there. They then met up together every once in a while and carl taught him to play guitar, they formed the band once pete learned to play guitar. =]

  • @TheWestbo Long story short they met in there teens lmao

  • @yetimichael

I'm aware of that, trust me.

But the boys seem quite similar to Pete and Carl. Like kid versions.

  • They can show two boys poking a dead animal with a stick, but they cant show a cigarette.

  • england right there.

  • This.is.England.

  • 3 minutes and 24 seconds of my childhood there!!

  • This song/album was released the same year shameless came on. listened to a lot of libertines and shameless that year (2004). this song always reminds me of shameless, especially the video.

  • haha like how the cigarette is blurred out. like no one can connect the dots on that one.

  • @HurfDurfAlive i think they are pretending to smoke the cig...

  • @afghankushh yeah, but that has nothing to do with anything, i just think it's funny that they had to censor it.

  • @HurfDurfAlive its blurred so noone can see its not actually lit... you dumb bitch lawl

  • @spencerlaneisacunt Well no shit. It just seems unnecessary. I guess I just find censorship stupid. Especially things like cigarettes like that's just something that I wouldn't think would be typically censored.

  • @HurfDurfAlive Nah I think it was more of a joint

  • @nyboy101

its a cigarette, watch the uncensored version bro

  • @HurfDurfAlive

might not even be a cigarette..

  • @JackFernDrumming might be a spliff...if so, good lads ;)

  • @HurfDurfAlive what cigarette?

  • @themadmike1993 man i was being ironic ;)

  • @MarianoJurda the one at 0:46? They just get younger and younger these smoking youths..

  • two eleven year old boys getting high lmfao

  • @GabbanaStylez from a cigarette?

  • The best song of our generation, perhaps our lives.

  • Reminds of my childhood, except there were three of us.Then along came a sh**e invention called marraige.

  • this has to be one of the best songs in last 5 years!

  • was a really good preformance at leed fest 2010 !!

    leeds 2010 was awsome !

  • i loved this at Leeds, and yes there were pits for libs

  • Reminds me of my childhood! XD

  • as if they blur out the ciggarette. It's fucking stupid. Love the libs though!

  • best band i have ever seen live, they really made leeds festival for me, and this song was brilliant too.

  • me and my friend both got hurt at leeds festival:

my friend got a bruise when the crowd ran towards the libertines' stage at leeds fes. i slipped on a bottle at the end :(

  • @MrSpidersplicer i was suprised how settled the crowd was, it was an amazing atmosphere, without mosh pits, i thought it was brilliant!

  • I saw this on saturday, still breathtaking

  • so glad there back together, leeds fest, comeback tour, fantastic, this song made it <3 LOVE YOU PETE !!

  • @ChesterJester1 They were top at leeds fest, loved them!

  • Watching them at reading playing this song now, Petes looking chubby, must be off the drugs for once.

  • They just played together, so maybe they'll be getting back together. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

  • love it =] n the pic of pete n carl at end =]

  • LOVE this song!

  • BTW, did I mention that I'm actually quite good-looking, as well?

    No?

    Well, it's true.

  • I hate the smiths. I agree though that with more bass, y'know a bit more ooomph, they'd be awesome, like a new Jam. Pete has a great voice. And who the hell needs IQ? It's rock and fucking roll!

  • PART 1. You may or may not have alluded in an earlier comment that Pete, Carl or possibly other members of the Libertines have a low IQ. Pete was for one academically successful, achieving 11 grade A* GCSEs, at Nicholas Chamberlaine Comprehensive School in Bedworth

  • and four passes at A Level, two at grade A. At the age of 16, he won a poetry competition and embarked on a tour of Russia organised by the British Council. Your comment was vaque and could have been interpreted countless ways so I apologise if this is of no relevance. I only say it in the very small chance it is relevant.

  • @fukthecorrupt he achieved 11 GCSEs but not all at A*, and he also attained 4 A Levels, 2 of which were grade A. Not that it makes much difference, your point still stands. Academically, judging purely on merit, he's not an idiot.

  • Also, personally I think Morrissey was a kind of genius, as many people are and many are not. Anyway I can't define genius and even a dictionary would only define it in a relative way so technically no one is a genius or a fool because it is only a concept and doesn't exist, I think I think.

  • They are good on thier own... but they were amazing together!

  • total shite garbage

  • Well, my point exactly. More or less. I think I said it more eloquently, is what I'm saying.

  • why does rough trade upload these now?

  • It's a bit like The Smiths but with like minus ten IQ points and no real balls being played through a really shitty transistor radio with no bass. Apart from that it's not so bad, I guess.

  • You're soooo eloquent

  • Thanks so much. Nice of you to say so. I'm quite good-looking, as well, actually.

  • I'll agree with you on that...if you're comparing yourself to your fellow warthogs....

  • Damn, you really know how to hurt a fellow, don't you!

    What a brilliant put-down.

You've humiliated me with your dazzling wit, you cad!!!

(Others might think that your remark would embarass a seven-year old, but I know true satirical genius when its rapier cuts me to the quick!)

  • Even though I am actually quite good-looking. As well as eloquent, of course.

  • They're most definitely not getting back together. Carl Barat has Dirty Pretty Things and Pete Doherty has Babyshambles. They're friends again but they're not going to get back together for The Libertines...there'd be no point anyway.

  • @jayobear theyre back together =D

  • they better!

  • no they aint !!

  • Yep, they're getting back together indeed :)

  • these boys getting back together or what?
