KeepItGreen, the Tomcat is a superb aircraft in terms of handling, but a little underpowered. the A-10 is also underpowered, and has a slow-ish rate of pitch up/down, something like 17 degrees a second, but she rolls better than almost anything around.
@mystinger72 Erm I think your mistaken friend. The F-14 tomcat had superb power to weight ratios and could out class migs in intercept scenarios. the ONLY reason for its retirement was its operating costs and inability to be a multirole.
@SR71pilot2007 well bro the tomcat is an interceptor it was made to handle in super sonic speeds and in very low speed also for carrier approach but the a10 is a ground attack low flying aircraft they have alot of gauges because it has turbines not afterburning engines it has alot of gauges for oil pressure hydrolics etc etc the tomcat was made with a two seat crew but besides basic aircraft instrument pannels it had alot of radar controls and weapons system. hope that answered your question.
@SR71pilot2007 There are not remotely comparable. The A-10 was designed as a sub-sonic, heavily armored, slow, maneuverable tank buster to counter the Eastern Bloc threat in Europe. The F-14 was designed as a supersonic fleet defense interceptor with long range multi-mode radar, look down, shoot down capability.
The F-14 Was a strong and powerful airplane that could take a punch. It has been in many movies.

It was called the "bombcat" because it was refitted for air to ground roles as well as air superiority.
