@toobaaaapi Thanks, glad you liked my approach. When I wrote that particular phrase you're asking about I was thinking about an environmental consciousness song by Bruce Cockburn called "When a Tree Fall in the Forest" which included a line about animal extinctions "tearing holes in the spirit world" - I thought that was an interesting and poetic way to think about all this.
Concensus among African Lions in the Transafrican Wild Life Preserve is as follows;
Yep...though...we are aware of the over stated impact of our actions on universal awareness, the so called "hole" problem, well, god dammit, nothing beats the flavor of newly downed Zebra.
Further, we are not giving that up for any of that fangled Synth-Prot crap they've been trying to feed us.

I must defend Rob here! On the journey to understanding, it should be fine to include some humour and puppets. Re God, the truth has to be that knowone knows. Extremists exist on both sides. Its when they push their beliefs on others, with anger, ridicule, sometimes violence, that is not loving, nor helpful. By default (check this in dictionary), we are all born athiest. With science, Math, and good education, including knowledge on all Religions, that one should make up one's own mind. Matt
So many countries (including my own) force a religion on children, when they should instead teach them to make up their own mind. The end result in my country is a mass of babbling Christians who have either never read the Bible, think that Christianity is the only way to be a good person, and/or can't back up any o their beliefs with anything (e.g. I know someone who is "Christian" but doesn't believe that the Bible is right and doesn't believe in Jesus!
Rob i'm unsubbing. I watched your vids believing that you had some great ideas that could truly explain our universe. But now it seems that you are using what you told us to insult what you agree with. Tell me if this is true or not.
HI PivotKC, Believe it or not, the ideas in this video are logically connected to my other videos, I just chose a crazier looking format to present them this one and only time. We've all been trained to reject discussions about entanglement and non-locality having anything to do with our participation in the universe we see around us. Here's some other videos: God or the Multiverse? watch?v=IJ1fwxqqLQI Daily Parrying watch?v=s5HyTz9xaBc God 2.0 watch?v=V-Y4xseftgQ Thanks for writing, Rob
I imagine that the future will be more like star trek and humans will have been completely assimilated by the Borg (corporations). There will be no need for corporate advertising. People will simply be compelled through signals in their cybernetic implants to consume whatever the corporation desires. Basicly becoming a society of remote control slaves. Any thought crimes will be immediately detected by the twitter implant in the skull, the drone will be deactivated, and its implants recycled.
HAHAHA ... that was great Rob. More like this please!
It's great to see you putting your revolutionary theories to their logical philosophical conclusions. Humour (as Bill Hicks proved) is an excellent way to communicate ideas. I'd love to live in that enlightened future. I have faith that the human spirit will prevail and it will come to pass eventually. Namaste.
This is actually very funny, and a lighter look at thungs. It must be fun or there is nothing else much to laugh about. Rob's cool as he shows here he does not take himself that seriously. But he is intelligent obviously.
I have to admit I suffer from carnivore guilt. Then again, life feeds on life. The history of the planet is everything eating each other. We didn't set that up...if there is some sort of 'spiritual force'..god, what have you..IT DID! ..and I really appreciate my position at the top of the food chain.
As for the Athiestic 'old guard'; I would rather hang out with them any day. They're less likely to skin you alive for having a different point of view. Now can we go back to physics?
"[Atheists] are less likely to skin you alive for having a different point of view"
Really? Not being funny here but have you even seen the nasty childish "pwnage" that atheists regularly get up to on YouTube? Just saying. The vast majority of theists are moderate, unlike the majority of rabid atheists. I'm an agnostic pantheist btw =P
I'm with you on the carnivore guilt though *blush*
you know why? Because we are constantly being persecuted and ridiculed by you ignorant god worshiping primitives who cant pull their heads out of their asses long enough to see the world for what it is.
I was just saying that we are constantly being pushed by theist. I live in Ohio, where I am surrounded by christians who insult me every day. Im only 15 years old and I get cursed at even when I dont start anything. You just offended me when you said that because I know it not to be true. The only people I have to relate to here is my dad who is a agnostic and two of my friends who I haven't talked to all summer.
I sympathise greatly with the plight of atheists in the US (it's not so rough here in the UK) but please bear in mind that acting as badly as the dogmatic theists do will not help anyone in the long run. Thanks for having the courage to reply more calmly, that took guts. Please remember that not all theists are brain dead worshippers of an invisible sky daddy and that they are people too. It'll be hard but you'll be the better person for it. Peace dude. Namaste.
Yeah ... nutters ... meet 'em everywhere. Nevertheless we evidently do not suffer from theistic bigotry to anything like the extent that Americans do. I suspect we have just as many intolerant and hypocritical atheistic bigots though ...
Yeah. I would even say that Atheists who claim to "know" that there isn't a god are worse than Theists who claim to "know" that there is a god because you can never really know that something doesn't exist, but you can know if something does, so saying you know something doesn't exist is really stupid!
I myself am an agnostic atheist - I don't know if there is a god, but I don't believe there is one. Not-knowing not-believing.
However I lean towards "pantheism" precisely because of some of the concepts that Rob is putting across in his more serious videos. If we assume that time is an illusion then the logical extended conclusion must be that everything is therefore "one". That includes my consciousness, your consciousness ... all consciousness throughout the 'verse ... ever. Rationality demands I stop there though. A judgemental god that answers prayers? Not so much. XD
LOL ... can I use that? Seriously though, personally I don't believe there is any objective purpose to the universe, or "life" for that matter. I believe that there just is what there is. In common parlance I guess that means I just believe that "shit happens". hehe
I subscribed because I enjoyed listening to your views on dimensions. They were interesting, educational and informative. Recently however they've just become weak. This video in particular is just patronising. I didn't sub to watch sock puppets deliver dubious social commentary. 1 star unsubbed.
What a bit of sychronicity! I just read an article on reuters about growing meat in a lab from animal stem cells, and here is a video on it. I'm all for it since it would significantly reduce environmental destruction.
I don't know if listening to the 'consensus' is right in every instance. There has been a consensus over wars and oppressions of groups over the years that I can think of.
I gotta say, I started watch because I enjoyed hearing Richard talk about his ideas about dimensionality. The idea of dimensionality being a set of variables that describe the maximum possible set of universes (of our kind anyway) seemed interesting.
This recent foray into a strange milieu of relativist ethics and dimensional spirit holes and anti-atheism just seems I don't know. I feel like someone is somehow insulting my intelligence with unsubstantiated speculation.
I agree. I began watching because I was interested in the dimensions and wanted to try to understand the concept. I do believe he is insulting our intelligence, with this video in particular.
Understanding our connectedness is not nonsense, it's about quantum mechanics and the non-local nature of our universe.
Yes, this video promotes an extreme view but by the time it's being presented by hand puppets I think it's pretty darn clear we're getting into one of the more fanciful parts of "imagining" how our reality is created. Clicking on the links at the end of the video takes you to lots of other videos that treat these ideas more seriously.
Okay, I'll tell the crazy bunny to cool it on the anti-atheism. Other videos which deal with this subject of how we've all been trained to reject discussions about connectedness, entanglement and non-locality having anything to do with our participation in the universe we see around us include
Not ridiculous, but physically impossible, to say the least. Just the laws of conservation of energy and matter alone break apart the presupposition of life existing in some way after the death of an organism.
